Petrucci flow

By teo from APPLE VALLEY, CA

Not too big not too small just perfect size and thickness , they glide off the strings very smooth with the beveled edges. They are a lot bigger than the jazz 3 and I like that a lot better for grip reasons . Perfect for speed or anything really overall great pick.

THESE ARE NICE PICKS

By Walt from AZ
Music Background: Professional Musician

I am not a speed picker. After reading the countless great reviews I gave them a try. I have used the Jazz 3 XL for a long time. These are the same size except the point is not as pointed. The edges are rounded nicely. I personally like the 2 mm thickness. They sound bold and are easier to hold. I tried the Flow 4.2 mm picks but found them too thick for my likes and did not care for the sound. These are a happy middle not to thick and not too thin. Some pickers say the logo wears off. Not important to me.

Slippery

By Mike

Design almost immediately comes off. Picks tend slip around between your fingers. V-picks work much better. Gravity too.

Shred like JP Instantly! (Ok, maybe not quite)

By Brian from DUBLIN, OH
Music Background: Rock, prog, world fusion guitarist: gigging for 30 years but not a pro.

I've been playing guitar for 30 years (yikes), I'm certainly NOT a virtuoso. I prefer heavy picks and have *loved* the black Petrucci signature Dunlop Jazz III's for the last couple years.

Buying some patch cables and such, I saw that JP had a new signature pick. The promo video is so dull it's funny (how much can you say about a guitar pick?) and he was nerding out about the "smooth bevels" and natural release of the strings. Yeah right John, I doubt I'm precise enough to feel the benefit. And $/pick seems steep. But what the heck -- I have a day job. I ordered a pack.

What do you know? These things are awesome! Somehow I'm just magically more accurate with fast alternate picking and string transitions -- especially on my Carvin 8-string with the flat-as-a-pancake fretboard radius. I blame the bevels. But whatever it is, they feel great. "Flow" seems like the right name.

Caveats: These picks are noticeably heavier than others and don't flex AT ALL. They seem a bit darker sounding and less "clicky" than my other picks too, which makes sense.

Overall, a really great addition to the arsenal. They look cool and feel very high quality. Give 'em a try!

Feels great

By Sweetwater Customer

I've been a blue chip pick user since picking up the guitar. I bought these because I'm looking for an alternative to my blue chips. I lost one of my treasured blue chips at a guitar store recently. I don't want to carry them around in my pocket anymore. My go to Blue chip pick is the CT 55 a triangular beveled edge so this one is a little smaller and took a little getting used to but I really do love it. I'm going to order the triangular John Petrucci but these are nice and smooth and comfortable.

Dumblap

The logo gold wore off after 15 minutes! UGH... for design 1 star but great hard rounded pick for Blues Lead work.

Great picks!

By Douglas S. from Gulfport, MS

I have tried many picks and this is one of the most comfortable and acurate picks. The pick glides across the strings and just feels right!

Free Your Right Hand!

By Don D. from COOLIDGE, AZ
Music Background: Recording Musician

Since 1987 I have played guitar. All the while using every pick under the sun. This pick is the first pick that feels like a broken in pick right from the start. My right hand hasn't had to work this easy in years! Great amount of attack with balanced tone. I couldn't have imagined I would fall in love with play more than I already have!

BEST PICK EVER!!

By Owen M. from Pennsylvania
Music Background: Guitarist for 5 years

I am begging you to please buy this pick. After I started using it, I swear to you that my playing improved. Its the perfect size, there's no letters of anything poking out of it and the point of it is the perfect shape. And unlike any jazz III picks I've used, there is no resistance when picking fast(arpeggios, tremolo picking, alternate picking, sweep picking, etc.). After using this pick, using other thin picks like Fender or Dunlop is just uncomfortable. John Petrucci's other small black pick is also very nice if you are going for a jazz III style, but this one is far superior in my opinion. Also this pick looks freaking awesome. The logo does eventually fade off if you play a bunch, but who cares, this pick is amazing. Anyways that's my review. Have a nice rest of your day random person reading this. :)

Very good pick for the money!

By Nick from CT

I usually use Blue Chip Picks which are incredible but cost around $40 for one pick after tax and shipping. When I loose one of those picks it drives me a bit crazy because they are so good and then I need to order more. These flow picks are about 90 percent as good and have a very similar feel. Lead playing is effortless a d they have a nice even tone and clean note release. They are a bit bright when coming off the string which is the only thing I don't care for compared to the Blue Chip ones which are a bit darker and give you more tonal control on the front and back of each note. Otherwise they are pretty darn close and cost 1/30th of the price per pick....which is great. I recommend for anyone who likes smooth tone, ease of speed and comfort. These are not just shred picks for mindless noodlers or You Tube ops cat guys who try to copy John's playing. These are very nice all around picks and sound great for jazz as well. Very nice picks! I will be buying more, even though the shiny graphics on them are a bit gaudy.

The Perfect Pick

By Brian from Memphis, TN

I've been playing guitar for almost 34 years, and I've always used medium fender of all shapes, even the big triangle fender picks. I'd had a few of the Dunlop Jazz 3 picks over the years, but never liked them. This pick however has a totally different feel. I tried it and loved it. It feels great in your fingers and the pick attack is so accurate and sounds loud and wonderful. I had bought a 3 pack of these about a month ago, and I liked these so much that ordered 2 dozen last night. They feel and play so good. I would have never thought that I would be playing with this heavy of a guitar pick. I highly recommend you give these a try.

Made me better

By Isaiah from Kansas
Music Background: Professional lead guitarist

All I can say is wow... From the moment I tried these, I was in love. I used the 1.0 flow picks and they were good and the best pick I had found; but these picks were the next level. From speed picking to sweep picking to strumming and riffing, they are the answer. It glides, it feels like butter, it attacks, its precise like crazy. I can"t say enough bout them. They allowed me to lighten up on my picking and my licks and runs became easier with less tension. BUY THESE PICKS

Great Shredder Picks!

By Jeffrey H. from Tulsa, OK

These picks are fantastic. After Toni hooked me up with the Andy James Dunlop Flow picks, she recommended I try these out...and I did and love them! They are thick like the AJ picks (2.0mm) and have the beveled edge which is great for solos and alternate picking. They really help get a great tone for rhythms and leads. I highly recommend them. They are the same shape as the AJ picks but slightly smaller (in width and length). I like both and go back and forth. One other difference is that these are solid but the AJ picks look solid black but are actually translucent blue when you hold them up to the light. I might like that aspect a little more but it is cosmetic and does not alter the performance. You cannot go wrong with either of these picks...and I have noticed an improvement in my picking technique. It's about feel and function but you should find what works best for you. But I really like how responsive these are! Call Toni and she will set you up with these picks. She is a wealth of knowledge and always makes time for my questions and NEVER tries to push me in any direction. She always tries to find out what you want and make recommendations accordingly. Sweetwater is the best!

I'm A Better Player Now

By Danny C. from Iowa

I always just went with "give me a pick and I can do my thing". I've even tried other 2.0mm picks before. But the curve of the edge on these makes them far and away better than anything else. I play technical melodic stuff (think Chon, Polyphia, A Lot Like Birds), and it is way easier with these picks. Even my 6 string sweeping has improved.

Best picks I've ever used

By Timothy K. from Omaha, NE

Been playing for 30 years and these are the best picks that I've used to date. Feel good in the hand, easy to grip, last a long time and glide easily over the strings. Good tone on all of my electric guitars. Highly recommended.

Look no further. You've just found the best pick in the world.

By Jae L. from New York, NY
Music Background: Playing guitar for 18 years

If you are looking for precision, comfortability and a proper grip, you've just found it.
As a long time user of the Dunlop JP (black with jp shield) pick, I thought that was the best pick until I picked these up. For those who are familiar with the black JP shield pick, this pick is thicker and larger. As large as the Jazz III XL's but slightly larger. Very slightly. The larger size does NOT cause any problems unless you're a child guitar player. In fact, it just gives you more control. The 2mm thickness is quite nice. I can't go back to any other pick now. The angles on the pick glides off the strings like butter, improving your accuracy and speed. Its also great for strumming believe it or not.
I mean, JP uses it. That should be convincing enough for all you skeptical buyers.
Get it!

BEST PICK EVER!

By Michael from Idaho
Music Background: Playing guitar for 11 years

My whole life I have used basic cheap guitar picks and about 3 months ago I decided to try something nice so I bought a dragons heart guitar pick and give it a shot and while I wanted to love it I simply could not. The shape did not work for me and the pick material has zero grip for me and slides out of my fingers. Recently I saw the promotional video for these john petrucci picks and i new i had to try them. I received these almost 2 weeks ago now and they are honestly the greatest guitar picks I have ever tried. The grip is absolutely perfect, i can play for hours and it stays still. The shape is also really nice and it fits perfect between my fingers. The pictures do not do the pick any justice it is so beautiful in person. I do not write reviews often but I have to for this pick because it is seriously perfect I will be buying more.

They're Good!

By Bobby L. from Asheville NC
Music Background: Experienced Pro

These picks feel comfortable in my hand.. I feel like I can pick a bit quicker.. they glide off the strings really smoothly.. they're easy to hold on to.. I don't notice much if any tone difference.. I've been using the Dunlop Ultex Jazz III and the JP Signature Jazz III.. these picks are definitely bigger and thicker.. the logo is wearing off but that's no biggie.. I like them a lot and will buy more.
