Gretsch G5022CWFE Rancher Falcon Jumbo Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar - White Reviews
If you're tired of "me-too" acoustic-electric guitars that all look the same, Sweetwater would like to show you something in white. Finished in an eye-popping gloss white with gold accents, the G5022CWFE Rancher Falcon is big on wow factor. Rocking an arched-back jumbo cutaway body with a solid spruce top and maple back and sides, this flattop's also big on tone. And when you plug in onstage, the onboard Fishman electronics amplify that great sound perfectly. If "different" is what you want, the Gretsch G5022CWFE Rancher Falcon is what you need.

Beautiful Guitar
I paid for setup service on this guitar before it was shipped to me - totally worth it. It plays great and looks even better than the pictures. I'm very happy with this new addition to my collection!
Acoustic white falcon
Sounds great right out of box. Beautiful guitar you will be proud of.
Great Guitar
I bought the guitar from an older gentleman who was trying to raise money for a kidney transplant. I have a lot of guitars, this isn't my favorite but it's close to it. It is a very beautiful guitar. It sounds very beautiful with or without an amp. I can't believe how inexpensive it is. Trust me you can't go wrong with this guitar. It's feel while playing is nice it fits well into your hands. The electronics sound really good. I'm playing mine through a Marshall acoustic amp. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this guitar.
Falcon yeah!
What a beautiful piece. Fit and finish are terrific. Very comfortable slim neck. Plays more like an electric. Nothing like that iconic Gretsch Falcon headstock! Thrilled to have it as part of my collection. Thanks to Sweetwater and Corey Elliott for the exceptional service I always receive.
Plays and Sounds sooooo Fine...
I normally don't buy any instrument before I set down and play it first.. I've been re-searching this guitar for most of a year. I've been an active player, singer and song writer for over 50 years.. When re-searching I was looking at active musicians that utilized this particular guitar when gigging. To my surprise I found quite a few.. Never saw one bad review, and farther more nothing under 5 stars... ever! I've played Martins, Taylors, Breedlove's, Seagulls, Tacoma's or anything that tickles my fancy when in a music shop.. I could never understand why some high end luthiers could charge so much for inferior sounding guitars.. With pick in hand I can stroll down a line of acoustic guitars with a slight strum across the strings and tell you if it was worth the asking price... Ask some of my students who have invited me to come along with them to pick out their first guitar. They still play them... and better than High paid baseball players who are good at 400... I'm batting a 1000
But enough of my experiences and my hats off to the Gretsch G5022CWFE Rancher Falcon... As my years advance I started looking for a guitar that would not only fit my needs for sound, weather for acoustic or electric or clean or dirty... I needed a instrument that could do all that and still have mercy on my aging fingers and hand... And I found it with this guitar and that's fore-sure! As I said before I looked at active musicians who utilized this instrument.
I read one review that described this guitar as "It plays like butter" and another review that said "it sound goods and full even unplugged". I re-searched again and again, about driving my bride of 47 years a little nuts!... But she loves me.. So sight unseen I called Sweetwater talked with Eric a sales rep, who quickly became a friend... Professional from top to bottom, with knowledge and respect for a friend not just a customer... I will utilize Sweetwater in the future for all my musical fixes,.. I mean needs.. LOL... Someone once asked me "How many guitars do you have?" I respond. With Sweetwater a phone call away the sky the limit..
PS I play all my guitars and other stringed instruments, one at a time... How Sweeeeeeetwater...

Thank you Sweetwater!
I've always loved the look of the Gretsch White Falcon electric but was in the market for a budget range but good sounding+playing acoustic at my local GS when I happened upon a used one that played like butter! It was literally the best playing acoustic guitar I could ever remember playing and by far the best of the dozen or so I played of the rack that afternoon. Unfortunately it had not been taken care of and I take good care of mine- So, I contacted Ryan Murray my Sweetwater Rep over many years and many satisfied purchases. I told him about my experience and asked him if he could have his team find me one and set it up to the secifications I wanted which was basically a jumbo acoustic guitar that played like an electric solid body as far as the fretboard action. Ryan did an amazing job of communicating the string gauge and set-up parameters I wanted and the result was the guitar played flawlessly when I finally received it! Very Happy! Besides the set-up I love the big boomy sound of a jumbo guitar and I also like the onboard electronics including the easy tuning feature. I purchased a Gator Hard Case and everything fits nice and tight as I like to store my guitars using Humdipak's when not playing them. I am now ready to sell the two Taylor and one Yamaha acoustics I have had until now, knowing that I will be perfectly happy with just this one! Thanks again to the entire Sweetwater Team!
I love it!
I have to admit, the white guitar with gold accents wasn't quite my style, or so I thought... I was just gonna get some strings, and one thing led to another. I played several guitars, including a very nice Martin for $1500, then another one for $2800. I was literally walking out the guitar shop "for acoustics" door and then I saw this one. I was amazed at the sound, the feel and the "playability" of this guitar. The price was excellent, and they threw in a nice case!. What a deal! I was not dissatisfied. I like the way the tuner automatically shuts off the plugged output when you turn it on. Nice touch when you are playing live. All of this, and more...And of course, that "Gretsch Sound". You will not be disappointed!
Wow
Like many of the other reviewers, I am amazed at the quality, sound, and beauty of this instrument. The Indonesian fit and finish is immaculate. Fret ends are near perfect. The set-up and play-ability are as good as it gets. It plays as well as USA Taylors, Gibsons, and Martins which cost four times more. The neck is comfortable; it feels like an electric guitar.
If that were not enough, there is the sound; it has its own voice, different than other brands. I can only call it "Gretschy".
As always, Sweetwater, Nick Lamendola, Elizabeth Partridge and FAST shipping made the purchase a pleasure.
Amazing!
Gotta say I took a chance with this guitar. It was the beauty of this guitar that drew me in. But once I got it in my hands I was blown away. It plays as beautifully as it looks. The action is perfect and the tone crisp. The only thing that blew me away more is the customer service at Sweetwater. Jed & Aaron made the buying process a pleasure. Plus, before my guitar shipped, I was emailed actual pics of my guitar! Sweetwater is a class act. If you've ever bought from the competition you know it can take at least a week to get your gear. My guitar was in my hands in 2 days. I highly recommend making your purchase here and immediately dump the other guys. Thanks Sweetwater for great service & a great guitar. I'll be calling again soon.
Gretsch did it again
I've been pickin for over half a century and have owned and played Martin, Fender, Gibson, Ovation and several other model acoustic guitars costing much more. This Gretsch Rancher Falcon puts them all down a notch. It's beauty is only matched by its rich deep sound. Bass, treble and midrange all come through with clarity and plenty of volume, with or without amplification. It feels comfortable and plays like an angel. Oh yeah, I recommend this instrument.
Sweetwater is awesome
Absolutely Beautiful sounding guitar the action is like an electric can pick it setup Perfect out of the box I waited to get this thing for a long time finally decided to get it wish i had gotten it sooner think i will get the 12 string next
Amazing guitar
No reviews of this guitar when I got it, so thought I'd give it a shot.
This guitar is phenomenal. It looks gorgeous, feels very comfortable and nice to play, but mostly sounds big and crisp, either plugged in or through the mics, it projects really nice. Incredibly beautiful and unique.
I didn't want yet another acoustic guitar with a clear wood finish, I wanted to be remembered for something else when I were on stage. This guitar is dazzling, the head stock and the golden falcon makes you just want to look at it.
Of course for the price range you can get some other brands that are better known for their acoustic guitars, but they will be entry level. This is a professional, high end guitar, nothing to envy more expensive guitars. Arguably the best guitar of its price range, and one of the very few jumbos available for its price range.
One thing worth mentioning, this guitar is huge. It's gonna fit real closely, even in the recommended cases for it.
Great Instrument
Rancher Falcon plays very nice, it has great tone and sound. I rated it 4 1/2 stars, because I'd like to see better quality strings.
Rancher WF 6-string
Anyone who purchases this guitar will be very pleased. I'm impressed with the price and the sound. I ran it through my Digitech Trio pedal and all I can say is it preformed great !! I like the feel and it was ready to play when I received it. It holds it's tuning very well and it is a beautiful guitar. Nate Baker and the Sweetwater team have never let me down. Thank you Nate & SW
Wonderful
I had another wonderful experience at Sweetwater. I own two other jumbo guitars, a Epiphone and a Takamine. This Gretsch jumbo is outstanding as well. From the playability, tone and White Falcon good looks with a very good price, it is a wonderful choice. For those of you who play on stage and understand about looking and sounding like a pro, this could be the guitar you have been looking for.
Ok but could have been great!
The G5022CWFE acoustic jumbo Gretsch white Falcon, while astetically pleasing to the eye has some draw backs.
Made in Indonesia the Falcon looks gaudy but it's a Gretsch so that's ok! I found no serious flaws in the fit, finish and general playability of the guitar. Somebody out there is setting Gretsch guitars up to good basic general playing specs from the factory. This is a very welcome surprise as several well known guitar makers fail in this critical area.
The major problem in my view is the materials used for its construction.
The bridge appears to be made of hollow "plastic" and not rosewood as suggested in the description. There may be a sliver of rosewood under the saddle but who knows, I'll check that later. The bridge pins are very cheap plastic as well but easy enough to replace.
Perhaps it's not that big of a deal at this price point as a very well known and expensive acoustic for a short period of time also used a plastic bridge in its construction.
The "U" shaped neck is very narrow near the nut and feels a little clunky and thick to my taste but to each his own. The sound of the guitar is ok and about all you could expect from a guitar at this price point but I just can't help but wonder how much different and perhaps better it might have sounded with a good piece of tonal wood for the bridge instead of plastic.
There isn't any bracing used on the inside bottom body of the guitar. It appears Gretsch relies on the small arched back to provide the required strength.
Another expensive manufacture does this as well on some of their guitars, one of which I also own so this probably isn't much of a concern in the near term. After 10-15 years it might show up later as an issue, you never know.
On the other hand I have found that an arched back on another guitar I own has a tendency to enhance "volume" and may help account for this Jumbos projection because the Falcon is relatively loud.
I own several Gretsch guitars besides this one and Gretsch generally makes a great instrument but in my opinion, a few unnecessary corners cut to save a little money here and there ruined what could have been an extremely desirable instrument.
I was going to send the guitar back but I put a new set of strings on her and then for some reason I just couldn't do it.,,, Why is that?
Well hey, she may be a little dirty, nasty girl around the edges but she's still a Gretsch and you just can't help but love her ;)
