Dunlop Tortex Flex Jazz III XL Guitar Picks - .88mm White (12-pack) Reviews
Originally designed to replicate the feel of a tortoiseshell pick, Dunlop’s Tortex line has since outgrown its iconic tortoise mascot, revolutionizing the world of guitar picks for over 40 years. Before Tortex picks came along, guitar players could only choose from a limited selection of plectrums that often came in only three ambiguous sizes: light, medium, and heavy. Jim Dunlop sought to provide a solution in arming players with a complete range of thickness standardized to the 100th of a millimeter, and easily recognizable by Dunlop’s signature color-coded system. Excellent durability, perfect grip, and snappy tone have made Tortex the industry-standard pick for guitar players around the world. Whether you’re a pro or just beginning your musical journey, you can be sure that there’s a Tortex pick for you!

Great pick!
I have been using the Green Tortex picks since 1994 and also using the red Jazz III picks for the last 15 years. These are a comfortable combination of both of those picks, but with a brighter and more dynamic feel. I would say they are bright and quick on the attack, with a crisp and almost hollow tone to them. They are not as durable as the Green Tortex though. If you do a few pick scrapes they will get indentations in them, but not as much as a standard pick would. I think I might go up in thickness on my next set though, the 88 Flex feel thinner than the 88 Tortex. Still a great pick, worth a try.
Finally, the Perfect Pick (for me)
These picks are pretty much exactly what I've been looking for. I've always been torn between the Jazz III (for the tip) and green Tortex (for the perfect thickness and feel) camps, and along the way I've tried a great many different picks of all sizes, shapes, thicknesses, and prices (including several that cost more per pick than these are per pack), and while all have had their advantages and disadvantages, none felt like the perfect one for me. These change that. They're big enough but not too big, thick enough but not too thick, have the Jazz III tip, and they're made out of a material that feels secure but not sticky or covered with bumps for grip (bumpy grip surfaces, or even the raised lettering on Jazz III's, have always irritated my forefinger during long practice sessions).
In short, I am very happy with these, and for the first time in years, I'm not thinking about what kind of pick I'll try next.
Hands Down Favorite Pick!
I've tried out a number of picks and I usually gravitate towards jazz sized picks. Over time I've started to get tired of how small they were but then I tried these picks. They are just slightly bigger but still smaller than traditional picks. They're perfect and the material doesn't slip in your hands (and is actually quite soft to the touch). Will be ordering so many more!
Best picks I've ever played
I have been playing on these for a month and can't put them down. They have all the Tortex feel and sound with a hint of nylon silkiness in the tone and they're lightning fast. They really help to bring out string articulation as well. These are becoming my go to picks. They even come in a goid range of thicknesses. I would definitely recommend anyone trying these out. Shout out to Dunlop for making a great product and thanks SweetWater for making them available. I hope they become a best seller.
