Lakland USA Classic 44-64 Bass Guitar - Lake Placid Blue with Maple Fingerboard Reviews

4-string Electric Bass Guitar with Alder Body, Maple Neck, Maple Fingerboard, and 1 Split-coil Pickup - Lake Placid Blue

Pick up a Lakland USA 44-64 Classic 4-string electric bass guitar and prepare yourself for some classic thump, punch, and drive. You'll love how this electric bass guitar's alder body resonates with an impressively full, rich, balanced tone, with just enough midrange to punch through a busy mix. Of course, the thing that makes the USA 44-64 Classic so popular among Sweetwater's bass players is its amazing custom-wound Lakland NeoPunch P-style Split-coil pickup, which gives you loads of that unmistakable thump that's powered the backline on many main stages for years. The bass comes complete with a graphite-reinforced maple neck and Lakland's innovative dual-access bridge. And the more you play the USA 44-64 Classic, the more likely it is to become one of your favorite electric bass guitars.

Cool as a Moose.

By FlukeBob on January 16, 2019 Music Background: P&W composition and performance

My USA Lakland "P"-style Bass goes way past my expectations. With the strings that came on it, plugged into my Fender Bassman 500 running through a 12" Mesa Subway... it growls like a big bear with gas trying to grunt out a rap tune.

Never had a bass that sounded as throaty as this one… The first time I played it plugged in, I was glad that I installed strap locks beforehand. I was as excited as a kid at Christmas. 8-)

The neck is shaped to suit me better than most "P" basses. It"s thinner than most, although it is just as wide. Still plenty of sturdy maple to transmit gobs of tone to the fabulous split pickup without it feeling like Shrek's baseball bat. No doggone battery; just a wide range of thumpy tone, adjustable from a smooth, deep growl to a snarky snarl - with one tone pot! "HA, HAAAAA - what da-a-ay is it!!?" (I"m as happy as a camel on Wednesday…)

Although I"m still plenty in love with my Fender Elite Jazz Bass, if the Lakland works as well with the PA and an amp simulator DI pedal - as it does with my amp - it"s going to be with me a lot when I"m going out the door with a bass.

As always, Ryan Wiltermood made the purchasing experience as quick and painless as possible - Sweetwater is a great company with sales and customer service departments that are IMO "Best in the Business" and a RARITY these days.

Amazing Bass!!!

By Sweetwater Customer on April 27, 2017

Picked this up as a second to my U.S made Fender Jazz bass and I must say I was totally blown away. The action on this bass is super low and playability is incredible. Has an amazing full and punchy sound. Finding it very hard to put down and go back to my Jazz bass! This is my first Lakland and I would definitely recommend this bass without hesitation.

Great Bass

By Aaron Kreke from IN - Indiana on May 15, 2017 Music Background: All things bass

I tried a dozen p basses searching for the perfect one. Well I think I got what I was looking for with this USA Lakland. It plays great with a super smooth neck. The cut of the neck blew me away. 1.75" nut width can be chunky but this thing plays much faster than an old traditional Fender p bass neck. The pickups sound great, classic punch and low lows.
Very happy with this purchase.
