400-series Guitar with the Sound of Rosewood

This Taylor 414ce-R acoustic-electric guitar is a popular performer that is enhanced with the sound of Indian rosewood. You'll revel in the punch and clarity the rosewood back and sides and Sitka spruce top bring to the 414ce-R. Its Grand Auditorium body is a favorite for its comfortably small dimensions and its ability to pump out power and detail well in excess of its size. Your onstage performances will sound beautiful as well, thanks to the onboard Taylor Expression System 2 electronics. The 414ce-R is one of the most popular performing acoustic guitars for good reason.

Indian rosewood back and sides

The 414ce-R 6-string acoustic-electric is one of Taylor's most affordable guitars built with solid Indian rosewood back and sides. Indian rosewood - considered by Bob Taylor to be one of the greatest tonewoods of all time - effortlessly adds depth to your low frequencies, sparkle to your high end, and a bit of a midrange scoop that aids in note definition.

Expression System 2 electronics, for flawless amplified sound

Traditionally, acoustic-electric guitars have employed piezo transducers under their bridge saddles. But Taylor's Expression System 2 is different. It uses a proprietary pickup behind the saddle. The pickup features three individually calibrated, precisely positioned piezo-electric sensors that respond organically to the instrument's acoustic energy as it's transferred through the saddle. In concert with Taylor's custom-designed, studio-grade preamp, the result is a natural acoustic sound with incredible dynamic range and responsiveness to your pick or finger attack. The Expression System 2 is definitely a favorite around Sweetwater.

Grand Auditorium body

You'll find Taylor Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric guitars on thousands of stages around the world. The 414ce-R boasts this body style to offer the sonic punch and incredible comfort that has made the design so popular. The guitar is effortless to perform with due to its tighter waist and narrower shoulder dimensions. And the guitar still provides the deep bass and strong projection of acoustic guitars that are much larger. If you're looking for a plug-and-play acoustic-electric guitar for your performances, check out this 414ce-R.

Taylor 414ce-R Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

I love it.

I just got this guitar less than four hours ago, I can't put it down. Music is just flowing out of me, I'm playing stuff that just sounds, I don't even know what to say, this is a fantastic instrument. I'm in love. I bought this guitar to write songs, and to perform solo live performances. What can I say, it's amazing. I'm delighted. Step one was to put some Elixir POLYWeb strings on it. This will make it 10 to 30% improvement of the tone of any instrument instantaneously. Having said all this, the guitar I really wanted is the same instrument with the Cedar-top. But I'm not complaining! Great guitar, I love it.

greatest acoustic ever

it sounds perfect ,looks and plays great the action is like a quality electric guitar...... unbelievable better than martins at twice the price

Exactly the sound I've been searching for

I own a 2005 Taylor 410ce with Ovangkol and it is a great guitar. However, I have always wanted a rosewood one and simply couldn't afford an 814ce. Enter the 414ce -R It was like a dream come true. What a fantastic guitar. I understand that Ovangkol and Rosewood are very similar tonally but after playing each back to back I felt that the rosewood out of the box offered something that I had been missing with the 410. I can't wait to hear this thing 5-10 years. I can't say for sure but it would appear that after the revamp of the 800 series Taylor just moved the old 800 series down to the 400 line, took away a few bells and whistles and voila the 400-R was born. It is a wonderful sounding instrument. I play out just about every weekend so I wanted something that I could use in bars, clubs, etc. without freaking out that something may happen to it. Of course everyone's ear and playing style is different so I would encourage you to play both. You may think I'm full of it or you may agree with me 100% but either way Taylor has once again raised the bar on an already incredible instrument.

Awesome instrument

I've played for over 40 years and this guitar is a pure pleasure to experience. I also highly recommend the Taylorsense to go along with it and I hope Taylor will allow sweetwater to carry it in their store in the near future. The instrument is just perfect along with the very knowledgeable and caring sales professionals at sweetwater. Over a 2 hour drive but worth every mile.
