Rickenbacker 360 Thinline Electric Guitar - Fireglo Reviews

Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar with Maple Body and Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard, 2 Hi-gain Single-coil Pickups, and Rick-O-Sound Stereo Output- Fireglo

The Rickenbacker 360 is the deluxe version of the iconic 330. In addition to the 330's jangly maple tones and classic good vibes, the 360 gives you rounded horns, a contoured top edge that rolls into the back binding, and iconic triangle ("shark fin") fingerboard inlays. Though most of these updates are cosmetic, one of the coolest upgrades to the 360 is the Rick-O-Sound stereo output. This sends each of the Hi-gain pickups to its own amplifier, or straight into a recording medium for instant stereo guitars. The Rickenbacker was loved by artists like George Harrison, Peter Buck, and Roger McGuinn for its shimmering chord voicings, and Sweetwater is sure contemporary players will enjoy its top-class tones as well.

Perfect in Every Way

By Sweetwater Customer on March 27, 2023

I just bought a new 360 in Fireglo from Sweetwater. Everything about the guitar and the purchase experience was perfect. I did have a slight freak out when I saw 21 frets versus the 24 I saw on Sweetwater's specs and stock photos. A quick web search soothed the nerves - apparently Rickenbacker made changes this year. I did a Google search on "Rickenbacker 360 21 frets?" And the first hits gave all the details, including an instagram link for Rickenbacker's official site. I attached a photo.

I spend zero time in that part of the fretboard so personally it makes no difference to me but others out there might want to know.

Corbin was super helpful, delivery of the back-ordered instrument exceeded expectations and once shipped it made it here days ahead of schedule.

A Worthwhile Splurge

By Steve from The Lone Star State on November 25, 2022 Music Background: Lifetime Learner

I've wanted a Rickenbacker since the Beatles started playing them. I've accumulated some nice guitars over the years, but never could justify Ric prices for a guitar I'd never been able to try out. Since Sweetwater has such great guitar deals and a generous return policy, I finally took the plunge when Sweetwater Tech Paul Eckert told me there was a Fireglo 360 in stock even though the website showed "More on Order." It's everything I'd hoped and then some. Great workmanship. Great feel. Great sounds. I did replace the R tailpiece with a Winfield trapeze and the Ric bridge with a Mastery. The new tailpiece just simplifies restringing, but the Mastery bridge takes the playability and tone up a notch.

I bought this as an indulgence, as a reward for getting old enough (and lucky enough) to be able to afford a brand new guitar without a test drive. Now that I've got it, love it, and wish I'd gotten one sooner, I also realize that current Gibsons and U.S.A. Fenders are more expensive than the Ric. It's that funny Ric mystique. They are rare in the wild and so their "email for prices" cost secrecy makes them seem way more expensive than they are -- Especially for what you get! It's actually amazing that a handmade U.S.A. guitar can be had for the Sweetwater price.

If you've ever yearned for a Rickenbacker but considered it too pricey, go for it. You'll be glad you did.

360 Fireglo Thinline

Just received a gorgeous guitar from Sweetwater:
Great price, good terms. It's a beauty. Looks great not to mention that good ole Ric sound. When you buy new you know what your getting. Thanks Sweetwater!

Great sound, very versatile.

Better than anything else. You get the brightness without the twang!

Classic Sound

By Dave Cudlip from Illinois on April 17, 2022 Music Background: Bluegrass and Classic rock, Blues and Rockabilly music. Guitar, bass, mandolin, banjo.

Bought the 360 in Fireglo and love it. I did change the pickups to Toaster style and the tailpiece to an Accent style vibrato. The stock pickups will give you the jangle sound that Rickenbacker is famous for but the Toaster pickups dish it out in spades. But that doesn't mean it's a one trick pony. This guitar sounds sweet into an overdriven amp or overdrive pedal. I run mine into a Vox AC15C1 amp with a Jangle Box compressor and a Pro Co Rat overdrive pedal. The guitar is flawless in build and paint finish. Set up was perfect out of the case and played like butter. They are more then just rhythm machines. Soloing on this is no problem. Now I'm wanting a Rickenbacker 620 to go with it.

Amazing guitar!

By Ward Phillips from Dyer, IN on April 14, 2022 Music Background: Experienced amateur. Playing for 40+ years

Goes with my 620, but sounds more jangly, for sure! Great playability. Superior quality and like a work of art. Super light. Thanks to Derek at Sweetwater for all his help, again. Highly recommend!

It's iconic for a reason. Beautiful, resonant, perfectly built

By Joe Griego from Bishop, CA on April 10, 2022

Still made on Main St. in Santa Ana. I had to wait several months for production to catch up, but that's par for the course. Rickenbacker only produces so many of these a year, and this one is now mine. I love the perfectly bookmatched maple back, resonant body, and that classic jangly sound. Using Rick-O-Sound is fun, too. I bought the stereo splitter cable here at Sweetwater, too.

The neck is easy to play, and was set up well from the factory. The rosewood they use for the fretboard is really thick - about three times thicker than the rosewood on my Strat or Tele. It's lighter in color that my Fenders, too - almost as light as pao ferro. It'll probably darken up once I condition it at the first string change with a little F-One oil.

I did remove the bridge cover to enable easier palm muting, but that's no big deal. The guitar was perfectly finished, with a flawless burst (Fireglo), and neck/headstock paint. The RIC case is also solidly built.

If it's not in stock, it'll take a significant wait, but really, it's worth it. It's a great guitar.

Great Addition To My Collection

By Bob from Chicago on August 14, 2020

I have owned plenty of Fenders and Gibsons over the years along with a few Gretschs, Martins, PRSs, a Collings and a Heritage but never a Ric. Wish I hadn't waited so long. Was concerned that the narrower nut width would be a turn off but not so as the neck itself has some substance. Truly unique sound and feel. Sounds great with a little compression and chorus or rotary going through a clean amp.

I wish I had purchased one years ago!

By Randall Rich from Orlando, FL on December 30, 2019 Music Background: Acoustic/Electric/Keyboards 50+ Years

After two days of playing my new Rick 360/Thinline I wish I had bought one years ago. First, quality, fit and finish is excellent, Rickenbacker pays attention to detail and it shows. Next Playability, this is the easiest of all my current guitars (Les Paul, PRS HBII, Strat, Tele, ES-335, ES-275 ..). Very easy on my left hand with the least amount of pressure to play clear chords and notes, very easy to bend strings and add tremolo. I can play riffs up and down the neck moving as fast as any other guitar I have played. As for Sound, Lots of options with the dual pickups which are very clear and jangly. With a little distortion and gain, blues, jazz, and metal all sound great. I should have bought one years ago and I am pretty sure I will get a few more ricks (360/12-String) in the near future. Almost forgot, the case is very good with good fit and finish and secures the 360 just fine. Many thanks to Chris Newman for getting this for me.

Something Special

By Steve Jewett from Harrisburg/Philadelphia on June 12, 2019 Music Background: Full-time musician

The Rickenbacker 360 Deluxe Thinline - Fireglo is the most refreshing guitar in my collection. Although I have a few guitars with humbuckers, I'm a single coil Fender guy at heart.
The Ric keeps me in the single coil realm while adding a little more power in the midrange without losing the sparkling highs.
This guitar behaves a bit like an acoustic, the body vibrates easily and is very lively. It's also a joy to play unplugged.
Due to the sum total of its construction and parts; dual truss rods, low headstock angle, nut material, etc., this guitar maintains its tuning stability remarkably well. When I take it out of the case at a gig to tune it up it's usually in tune already. Guitars that do this always impress me.
The neck pickup has a beefy tone for a single coil - very satisfying. The bridge pickup is penetrating, providing great low note definition for country licks and the two combined give one of the sweetest bell-like tones I've ever heard. Simply angelic.
Now the looks. Under the LED par lights this guitar is certainly the prettiest girl at the dance, hands down. The case is great too with "Samsonite" style latches and a form-fitting interior. On the lighter side as well.
I'm proud to own this guitar.

Incredible Sound!

By Carmine B from Chicago, I’ll. on February 3, 2019 Music Background: Playing since 1967. Still have my Kalamazoo Epiphone Crestwood Custom 332, and still perfect.

Shopped around. Some places had this cheaper, but none had the service, knowledge and 2 year included warranty of SWEETWATER. Kurt Martin walked me through the purchase making everything very comfortable. The guitar came well packed and very fast. Let it sit for a day then opened up. WOW! The finish and details are Breathtaking. The sound is distinct and true. So Easy to play. Set up was perfect right out of the case. I"ve purchased two more guitars from SWEETWATER, and I will be back for more. Thank You.
