Marshall ROAR!

By Mark from Ct on January 20, 2023 Music Background: 30+ years

It's all Marshall !
Sounds like a hot rod JCM 800 on the lead channel. You really don't need an overdrive to play solos. But to get everything matched up volume wise, I found it better to dial the gain back and add an SD1 for solo time.

Some nice crunch and clean tones on the first channel.
Had a easy time dialing it in , even after reading all the reviews saying how hard it was.
For a little combo you can feel the power as much as hear it.
I'm happy!

Never loved a piece of gear more

By Andy from OH on November 18, 2022 Music Background: Part time gigging musician

This amp is all you will ever need. Small enough to play at home but loud yet portable enough to play small clubs without a mic. Anything bigger you'd want to mic up anyway - I've played outdoor gigs with this mic'd and it sounded unreal.

It says a lot that John Frusciante and Slash both play the bigger brother version of this considering how different they are as musicians and in sound. That shows how versatile yet how much mojo these amps have - and the tones of this 20w mini are true enough to the originals. Other Marshalls can get close to this but this is also the only studio mini combo that has a 12 inch speaker, WHY didn't they do that for the plexi and jcm 800... No other brand combo amp will get these tones - I had an Orange 30w tube combo (the stereo one) and it was muddy as hell compared to this.

The only minor gripe is the rhythm clip is not footswitchable. Also the footswitch for the lead channel does not have a light on it. I use that channel as my solo boost (and use the clean w/rhythm clip on for everything else) - sometimes i'll forget to turn it off again and realize halfway through the next song "wow i sound awesome right now" and then realize why - i am over powering the rest of the band!

Still gets 5 stars though because i'd rather have this than any other alternative.

Silver Jubilee

By D from New Orleans on November 16, 2022

Tired of needing dirt pedals? Want to bring the sounds of '87 into your home, studio, or small venue? Want a perfect edge of breakup clean tone? The Silver Jubilee has it all and more. Look, I could go on and on with these questions, but to keep it brief, this amp is just amazing.

Treble 4, Mids 6, Bass 6, Presence 7, roll the tone knob on your guitar down to tame some of the treble boost, switch over to Lead channel and say goodbye to needing overdrive and distortion, if 1987 Sunset Strip style gain is what you're after, you got it. Using those same settings, you'll also notice you have a clean edge of breakup tone that's highly attack responsive and also, as very 80's.

So just slap a delay into the fx loop, put a wah up front and go.

Absolutely killer amp

Excellent!

By Marlin Johnson from Pennsylvania on September 30, 2022

When speaking with the sales engineer Derek I explained how I was looking for that 80's hard rock sound. He mentioned this amp so I took a chance and bought it. What a great decision, my Friedman Cali and Stratocaster sound amazing when plugged into this. Love how you can switch between 5 and 20 amps too. It's a high quality Marshall amp. So happy I spoke with Derek. Got exactly the sound I was looking for.

INSTANTLY RECOGNIZABLE TONE

By K B from Washington State on August 31, 2022

I Dig it!

Smallish in size for such a monster amount of sound. Easy to move around if you need to.

Attenuates down to 5 watts.

I've found that I can run it on the Full Power 20/25 watt setting and just be more concise with my attack and its incredible.

Much bassier and fuller sounding than I expected with a single 12 inch speaker.

I play a ton of GnR thru this amp with a Les Paul Standard and it delivers the sound I'm looking for.

10 thumbs up!

Don’t think twice at the price, just buy it!!!

By Chris H. from Williamson, WV on October 22, 2021 Music Background: Guitarist

If you're into the Stevie Ray Vaughan tone this is the perfect amp for you also has lots of low end grunt and mid range bite to it when you dial back the treble. Mids make a very huge difference just from going to the 1 o clock to the 3 o clock range when adjusted. Pair this with a American professional 2 strat (mine is the roasted pine SSS Model maple neck also worth the checkout) and you've got one of the best tones you'll find. Mine is the Sweetwater limited edition even the 5 watt setting is very very loud and gigable! It's a 10/10 in my opinion and I'll rate it that high even not having a reverb built in… I have the keely pedal with spring, hall and room
Reverb

Old guy likes amp

By Michael J. Mychajluk from Clearwater Florida on September 15, 2020 Music Background: 49 years guitar, 4 years before that accordion, 200-300 gigs under my belt, everything from original hard rock to the Pumpkin Festival, taught guitar privately for a few years..

Briefly 40 solid years plus playing under my belt, doesn't mean I know it all but definitely have owned it all and used it in band situations, going over the slight negatives I've heard about this amp, mind you tone is in the ears of the tweaker so you have to know and be able to find what you're looking for. "Its bright" yes if you push treble high and presence through a new greenback it could be, I found a very useable base sound Treble, Middle, Bass, and Presence all on 3, input gain 5-8 to your taste, going too high on the mids tend to fatten notes but take crunch/edge out of your sound, tweak the high's from here with treble and low's with Bass knob to your taste, low Mids bring back the "lack of Bass Response" people talk about. "Too much compression on the Lead Channel" again could be too much mids but a solo boost should have more gain in the rock/blues world which also means more compression, play with that input gain knob and switch back and forth with the rhythm/lead channel selector till your gain levels are acceptable and balanced to your liking. Through the loop I run a Reverb on all the time and a Delay for longer echos, chorus also when needed, loop sounds great to me. All amps have their own character, consider your musical tastes, research the product with online videos, pay attention to your pickups too, Marshall 800's in general had very interactive tone controls, try keeping eq knobs low and dial in what you need. To me this amp will cover Rock, Blues (my friend came over with a single coil strat dead on Stevie) Hard Rock, Reggae, even Funk, playing with the pickup selector and taps on my PRS guitars tons of tones. Haven't gigged with it yet but do have an audition tonight, enjoy.

Marshall Mini Jube combo 2525C

By Keith V from San Antonio on May 27, 2020

Great-sounding amp. Has that chewy '80s Marshall grind. Sounds good at low volumes, and rips pretty loud at the full (20 watt) setting. UK-built, very sturdy. Glad the designers paired this combo with the Celestion Greenback inside, it is a good match. Only possible concern is that this being a virtually closed-back amp, will there be enough air circulation to keep tubes/electronics cool? Not an issue so far, and haven't seen any other complaints online, so maybe there is no reason for concern.
Very happy with purchase.

Great Marshall Amp

By Dan Muers from York,Pennsylvania on February 8, 2020 Music Background: 37yrs playing local musician

You can't go wrong with this amp.My two main guitars are a strat and a Flying V.With the strat I use a dod overdrive on the clean channel with the Rhythm clip pulled, killer tone. With the "V"
I use the dod as a boost only through the dirty channel with theRhythm clip pulled, professional tone is all I can say.If your thinking of buying this amp don't listen to any negative reviews about this amp anyone who complains doesn't like Marshall tone. All Marshall and made in the uk! The 20 watt/5Watt feature is great especially when trying to keep stage volume down.It also comes with tung sol el 34b tubes! Thanks to Marshall,Sweet water&my wife my amp needs have been fulfilled.

7 Star Amp

By Patrick Gragera from San Francisco Bay Area, CA on August 1, 2019 Music Background: Home Recording, Guitarist, Bassist, Music Historian, and Gear Junkie.

For seven years, I've been looking for an amplifier that would take the sounds I make with my guitar well. Unfortunately, I have not ran into one to my liking. I've previously used a Vox AC30C2, Fender Twin Reverb, and a cheap Marshall combo (can't remember the model) but none of which matched my style. They're either too clean or too dirty, there's no "in-between." One day, I've played a Marshall Silver Jubilee and instantly fell in love with the sound and thought this was THE sound I've been looking for. But it was too big for my setup and too expensive. A friend of mine told me there is a mini version of the amp and I'm glad I took a stab in purchasing this because it sounds exactly like the original version. Don't be fooled by this 5-watt product, it's as loud as any other giant amp. The sound is well-balanced and it cleans up distorted sounds well. This goes to show that big things can come from small packages. I highly recommend this if you plan on recording guitar in a studio or gigging in clubs. Big high-five to Marshall!!!

Great amp!

By Ken from MI on May 19, 2019

I owned many amps and this sounds great right out of the box! Excellent crunch and lead tones. Sounds and looks like real Marshall and has a good feel to it nice and chewy.

Fantastic Amp!

By Bedroom Rockstar from The Matrix on April 27, 2019 Music Background: Midde-aged Gear Junkie

I was having a hard time choosing between the Silver Jubilee mini or the JCM 800 mini head. There are so many positive reviews for both amps I just couldn"t decide. It also didn"t help matters that every time I went to buy one of the heads, they went out of stock before I could press the buy button lol. That being said, I chose to purchase the Silver Jubilee 1x12 combo amp. Within an hour of plugging it in, I fell in love with it! It"s got all the growl and bite you"ll need and also has magnificent tone sculpting capability for anything from rock to classic metal. Put a Tube Screamer in front of it and you"re good to go! It"s a great little amp!

#1 Marshall

By Sweetwater Customer on June 20, 2017

The best Marshall and amp in general that I have ever heard in my life. Considering Marshall hasn't been able to create a decent sounding product in 25 years, it's a blessing that they at least can pull out old schematics and make products available from a time when they actually mattered. If you want the Marshall of all Marshalls, this is the amp.

Instant Sweetspot

By Eric Gross from Rockaway, NJ on June 12, 2017 Music Background: Professional Guitarist/Educator

All these years I've been searching to find the perfect amp that creates just the right amount of stage volume with the exact gain staging that just hits the sweet spot without trying to hard. I was worried that because there isn't a separate gain dial for the lead channel and just a lead volume that I wouldn't get the right amount of drive but its like the amp just reads your mind about where you need to be to rip a great tone for a solo. I use it with a helix for effects, such as rotary, delays and reverbs, and its a whole new ball park for tones. Not much of an investment if you are really looking to step up your tone game.

this marshall a 5 star general

its a mystery why great products from great companies will sometimes just disappear. did not want that to happen here. pricey? yeah....but every watt worth it. with band practice i've been using a blackstar id core 40 and have to crank to be heard. not anymore. this week our bass/drums/guitar setup aggressively loud on my instrumentals and this baby cuts thru like a laser. didn't even approach the top end of the high setting. there's nothing like tube watts! sounds great with a tele or heritage 535 and george L and eventide cords. special thanks to dan overstreet at sweetwater for expediting this.

Little Beast

By Laura C on May 21, 2017 Music Background: Musician and Song writer.

I purchased this amp after much consideration. Tt isn't cheap but it is the real deal. Running on low is great for home use and flipping to full power For gigs provides plenty of volume and really great rock and blues tone. Mine combo has the Greenbacks. It took a few loud sessions to break them in but here 3 months later I'm really happy with this little not so little beast. I haven't had any problems with it. The crunch pull rhythm clip is kind of like a self contained tube screamer and sounds spectacular especially for blues. The clean channel is very sweet. Just run a decent reverb through the effects loop and you're golden. Dustin Keesbury was my salesman and he delivered exactly what I wanted, factory sealed, grade A merchandise with stellar customer service. He was very respectful and didn't try to tell me what I want. I appreciate that and wouldn't hesitate to purchase again n the least. Thank you Dustin. -Laura

Excellent Amp

By Sweetwater Customer from Sugar Land, TX on February 26, 2017 Music Background: Hobbyist, Classic Rock, Alternative Rock, Blues

I don't usually write reviews but if you're struggling like I did to make the investment, I have no regrets. Exceptional tone both clean and dirty in a compact package. I had been looking at this amp for several months but wasn't sure I wanted to make the investment. Purchased it over the holidays and haven't used my other amps since (Fender SuperSonic 22, VOX AC15). I read reviews that were critical of the amp due to lack of reverb or some other issue but no issues whatsoever. At its core this is a fantastic amp. I can easily customize a particular tone I'm looking for by added a pedal or two. Sounds great a both 20 and 5 watt settings.

A M A Z I N G

By KDS from Salinas, CA on December 22, 2016

If you were looking for the perfect studio amp this is it. I have searched for roughly 25 years to recreate a balanced, harmonic, saturated tube tone at a private volume. This is it. Finally. I think the under rated secret weapon on this might be the closed back enclosure. If you are looking and thinking about it - you are wasting time - because you just need to click purchase NOW!

Vicious

By Darrin from Jonesboro, AR on November 19, 2016

I played the 1x12 just to see what the talk was about. Well, 2 seconds into it, I figured it out. This little monster is a beast. No question about it, it is a pitbull and a cobra in a beautiful case, Crushing is the only way to describe the punch. Like Mr. T in Rocky III punch your lungs out and looks gorgeous.

Best Blues tone I have ever heard.

By John on September 16, 2016 Music Background: Lead Guitarist

Extremely versatile. Warm and thick overdrive channel, to a soft and sweet clean channel. I will definitely be using this amp at gigs. Don't be fooled by the 20 watts, this amp is LOUD. For me, it was worth every dollar!

Great little amp

By Michael from California on October 4, 2022 Music Background: Bassist

This little amp is not that little. It would be a great amp to use in small to even medium venues. This amp has a great sound and the setting possibilities make it a versatile. If you have grumpy neighbors, the 5 watt setting is likely to keep them at bay.

UPDATE

By WILD BILL 212 from N E USA/S E ASIA on January 9, 2019 Music Background: GIBSON PLAYER

I was having trouble STACKING DISTORTION PEDALS with this AMP and I could not figure out why ! So, I just played through the AMP and it sounded GREAT. So, I figured out that playing thru the AMP w/STACKED PEDALS with the RYTHM CLIP pulled out/"ON"/Engaged is like trying to use my old Solid-State Fender STUDIO 85 AMP's Distortion Channel while using a DISTORTION PEDAL too, IT JUST SOUNDS TERRIBLE and can not be done.

So, now that I have figured out that to use this AMP WITH PEDALS the RYTHM CLIP can not be engaged/MUST BE OFF/PUSHED 'IN', and it is IMPORTANT to know this because I was unable to get the AMP to sound anywhere near good enough and thought about returning it until I figured this out....NOW, running the AMP as clean as it can run and then STACKING the DIRT PEDALS gets the AMP soundin' better than ever....I'm still dialing in some TONES but the biggest draw-back has been overcome and now setting a good MID-RANGE tone is all that is left......

"THE SOUND OF THE 80's"

By Gaco71 from Knoxville, TN on February 25, 2017

I would just like to say that I was a teenager during the 80's and I was into bands like Motley Crue, Kiss, and Ratt. I was a huge Dokken fan, and later on I loved G'n'R, Metallica and Megadeth. My first amp was a peavy back stage plus (and it sucked)! I begged my Dad for a Marshall...and after a while he gave me the $ to buy a used Marshall JMP mk2 50w (heavenly sound), but I still didn't sound like George Lynch!!! Over the years i have bought a lot of amps that everyone was talking about being "The In Sound". I gigged with a Mesa Triple Rec all during the 2000's with pedals running thru the clean channel. I've owned a couple Dr. Z's which are great, but (still not quiet the tone I was after.) I bought a Marshall DSL 40, was a little closer, but( still not the sound I was looking for.) Then I bought a great little amp...a Mesa V-25,a very versatile recording amp, but (still after a while just not "The Sound".) Recently I got the "GAS" for a new amp...I wanted a Friedman amp! I searched all over the web for sound clips and videos...but in the end I decided to give the Marshall Mini Jubilee 2525c a shot. I am very happy that I bought the little Marshall. It purrs, and growls and is just awesome. I think that if you have some of the same influences and expectations as me, then you'll really dig the Marshall mini Jubilee for jamming at home or recording thru the direct out, or even gigging (it is LOUD!) If you hear a Marshall tone in your brain...just buy this mini Jubilee!!!

Marshall 2525C Mini Silver Jubilee

By Sweetwater Customer on January 2, 2024 Music Background: 40 plus years musician

I've had this amp for approximately 4 years now and have learned how to coax it's true tremendous sound qualities based on other reviews. Without going into a ton of detail which many past reviewers have broken down terrifically, I will state what has worked for for me in a live band setting (Note: Amp is always mic'd live, so no issues with volume).

Clean Channel-I use a separate EQ pedal (Earth Quaker-Tone Job and/or Boss GEB-7),-Gets the sparkly cleans and volume difference needed to compensate between the amps switchable channels.

Clean Channel-(Pulled)-Same as above and sometimes do not use any external EQ pedal-Depends on what sound I am truly looking for.

Gain Channel-No EQ pedals needed to enhance the lead sound (But then again, may use one just to stomp on for a different texture).

That's about it, I run straight into the amp with any pedal configuration and bypass the effects loop, although I have tried both, and to my ears, either way sounds excellent with minimal sound differences.

AN EXCELLENT BRITISH MADE AMP, NEED NOT SAY MORE !

ROCKIN' AMP...interesting !!!

By WILD BILL 212 from N E USA/S E ASIA on December 15, 2018 Music Background: LIFELONG GIBSON PLAYER

This AMP is truly expensive for a 20 WATT AMP,as there are many CHEAPER alternatives. but YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR (if your LUCKY these days) and this AMP, while a bit pricey, IT IS WORTH IT.

I purchsed the MARSHALL DSL40C and never really liked it (upgraded speaker and all) and I bought the 'ORIGIN 50' to sit next to it and play in a STEREO RIG, BUT the 'ORIGIN 50' blew up less than a month after purchase, so back it went.I realized that I wasn't getting anywhere buying S E ASIAN MARSHALL's so I bought the MARSHALL MINI SILVER 'JUBILEE' 2525C and I am glad I did......IT IS A REAL MARSHALL, MADE IN ENGLAND and the TONE is what I have been looking for.... for a LONG time.

I wanted a "REAL" MARSHALL, before I gave up and went back to FENDER AMPS (or tried ORANGE) as I had problems with the DSL40C ( the Pre-Amp BLEW UP 6 months in,was fixed on a WARRANTEED REPAIR) and the 'ORIGIN 50" blew up in less than a month! AND, GEEZ LOUISE !, IT TURNS OUT the MARSHALL DSL40C had the speaker cable going into the wrong OUT-PUT, the 8 OHM OUT-PUT instead of the 16 OHM OUT-PUT... since I switched the speaker cable to the correct OUT-PUT I have a new appreciation for the MARSHALL DSL40C, I DO ! BUT, I still wanted a 'REAL'MARSHALL...and now I have it and I am GLAD I went for it.

THE TONE IS THAT AC/DC "IF YOU WANT BLOOD" LIVE TONE in both the Clean and DIRTY Channels, I am still learning how to use the 'Rythm Clip' but right now just using the LEAD CHANNEL and setting the tone and getting it right where I want it and then setting the DSL40C (in Half Power Mode) Volume to match it....so now my 2 COMBO AMP STEREO RIG is CERTIFIABLY 'BAD TO THE BONE', and seriously... for $... it really should be....

As usual Patrick @ SWEETWATER delivered the 'CLASS A' Merchandise with outstanding service that has made me a permanent SWEETWATER CUSTOMER !

GIBSON's THRU MARSHALL AMPS CAN NOT BE BEAT !!

Wishful thinking.......

By AKL from MN - Minnesota on March 14, 2018 Music Background: Hobbyist

I normally want to play through an amp with one of my guitars before deciding to buy. I took a chance with the Mini Jube combo....out of my comfort zone. I'm returning it. I was very disappointed with the sound. Harsh with no clarity and definition. Maybe the speaker needs to break-in, I don't know, but I'm not waiting for that. The build quality is fantastic.....built like a tank. I'll probably get ostracized for saying this, but my Marshall Code sounds decidedly better.....IMO. This is just my experience, I went against my better judgement and purchased with out playing. I would not "not" recommend the Mini Jube. It's just not my cup of tea.

Couldn't make it work

By Steve on May 3, 2017

I bought this as an open-box deal. Great service as usual. I really wanted this and loved what I saw and heard in the vids, especially that rhythm clip sound. But when I got it, wow, I just could not get anything decent dialed in, and after a few days, back it went. Sweetwater was great about the return. It could be me, but as much as I wanted this to be my new go-to, I just couldn't find my sound in there.

Rubbish

By Michal Lašan from Svit on December 5, 2019

Maybe I got a faulty piece, but even then, with good amps, this should not happen.

This amp does not know what clean tone is. When I play 2 or more thick strings, it comes with necessary distortion, even with the lowest possible input gain, thus, I cannot play RHCP - Snow on it without any crunch.

The speaker strangely resonates with the strings, especially when I play two-tone harmony with a thick and a tiny string like RHCP - Scar Tissue verse - at the end of it, the speaker somehow does not like the final harmony and somehow destroys it by putting in another resonating note outside of the harmony, creating out-of-tune catastrophe.

I am returning it and not risking buying it again.
