Sabian 16 inch AA Apollo Hi-hat Cymbals Reviews

16" Hi-hat Pair, B20 Bronze

Choose Sabian's AA Apollo Hi-hats for an articulate sound that is also surprisingly fat. With a thin top over a medium-thin bottom, these hi-hats offer a brilliant combination of grit and shine. These hats are very expressive and easily controllable, making them suitable for a wide range of musical styles.

Really Great Hats

By bg17 from N. TX

So glad I asked my sales engineer about the hats I saw Nick D. play in a couple of videos. I really liked the way they sounded and I wasn't disappointed to hear them in my setup. Nice and articulate, subtle studio-like sound all around.

A special sound

By Sweetwater Customer

As a sound engineer, cheap cymbals are often the bane of my audio existence. Too loud and too clangy. So when it came time to get a pair of hats for my own kit, I spent a fair amount of time listening to and trying different sets.

I'm very glad I went with these. They are quieter than many hats, which I consider to be a good thing. Chick is surprisingly defined and not overpowering--more of a "chunk!" than a "cheep!". And these hats have somehow magically reduced the 1kHz-4kHz clang while leaving a very pleasant-sounding wash--dark, but not over-the-top dry. One review I read described the sound as sonic dirt over glass, and I don't disagree.

I could understand why a pair of 16" "distressed" hi-hats would not be everyone's first choice, but if "sound" means more to you than "volume," I would encourage you to at least give these a listen.
