So smooth

By Josh from NY on October 10, 2023

Plays like a gem, and such a smooth sound and feel. This is my first upgrade from a 'entry level' guitar, and what a difference it makes. Even my kids notice the better sound! And Charlie Kim is great to work with as well!

A Left-Handed Guitarist's Dream.

By Jason Hedgepeth from San Antonio, TX on September 8, 2023

The Left-Handed Taylor 214ce is a remarkable acoustic guitar that embodies quality, craftsmanship, and sheer musicality. As a left-handed guitarist, finding a premium instrument can be a challenge, but the 214ce is a game-changer.

The comfortable neck profile and ebony fretboard make it a joy to play, whether strumming chords or fingerpicking intricate melodies. The Taylor Expression System 2 electronics ensure that this guitar sounds as magnificent plugged in as it does acoustically, making it a reliable choice for both live performances and studio recordings.

The attention to detail in its construction, from the impeccable fretwork to the smooth finish, is evident. It's a guitar that not only sounds great but also feels great in your hands. The 214ce's classic Grand Auditorium body shape offers excellent projection and a comfortable playing experience.

This guitar isn't just about sound and playability; it's also about aesthetics. The koa back and sides paired with a stunning solid Sitka spruce top give it a timeless and elegant appearance. It's a guitar that you'll be proud to showcase on stage or in your home.

The Taylor 214ce is a guitar that exceeds expectations. It's a testament to Taylor's commitment to quality and innovation, offering left-handed players an instrument that inspires creativity and musical excellence. Whether you're a seasoned musician or a budding guitarist, the 214ce is a fantastic choice that will elevate your musical journey.

Great customer service

By Terry Hall on April 22, 2023

Sweetwater's customer service is great! My sales engineer was very helpful and even sent me the professional photos of my guitar. It shipped out within 24 hours. The 55 point inspection assured I wouldn't get a flawed instrument. Will definitely be a regular customer.

Love this guitar!

By Mike Moore from Reno, NV on June 11, 2022

They say the thing that tells you if you have the right guitar is when you can't wait to get your hands on it again. I have had my Taylor now for 7 months and can't wait until I can play it again. With Elixir strings, the 214CE is one sweet sounding acoustic. I've had other acoustics in the past but could never find the right tone nor did I enjoy playing them that much. Besides sounding great, the neck plays flawlessly and was expertly setup by Sweetwater. The value for the money is really high but what really matters is the joy I get from playing it.

My first / last? acoustic

I just unpacked my new Taylor 214. Flawless in appearance. Even better sounding. I'm a beginner again so this will be a joy to learn on. It sounds great through my BOSS acoustic live amp. Shout out to Jacob my sales engineer. He is always helpful and prompt with phone calls or emails. I will always purchase from Sweetwater.

Fantastic Guitar!

By Shawn from Colorado on November 28, 2020 Music Background: Beginner

My Taylor 214 arrived last week and I could not be happier! Absolutely beautiful guitar with great sound right out of the box. I have a Martin, and this guitar blows the Martin away! If you have any reservations about ordering a guitar online, don't! It arrived in perfect condition with how well it was packed and protected for shipping. Before ordering I spent time talking with Joe, My tech rep, and he answered every question I had, especially reassuring me about shipping. THANK YOU Joe, and THANK YOU Sweetwater!!

Excellent Choice

By Dennis from Burke, VA on February 1, 2018

The fit and finish of Taylor guitars is always top notch. Put that together with great sound either acoustic or plugged-in and you've got a winner. Nice slim neck and very playable - this guitar was a great choice for me.

Speechless

By John Stephens from Montgomery, AL on December 19, 2017 Music Background: Worship Leader, Sound Engineer, Wedding Singer, Bar Musician, Vocalist

I was in desperate need of a performance guitar and this is hands down the best price that you can get one. I was a little skeptic of the wood and how it would sound but this was definitely the right decision, and no video or other player will do this guitar justice unless you pick it up and hear it for yourself. Its play-ability is so natural and comfortable that it was hard to put this guitar down, and that made my fiancé very jealous because I really could not put this guitar down (nor did I want to). The Expression Systems 2 pick-ups are incredible, I really can't say anything bad about them and when I play on my acoustic amp I don't want to add any effects or anything to them to help contribute to the sound (That's with Low/Mid/High in a neutral position btw). I know that there are better guitars out there, but for the price it doesn't get any better than this. This will more than do for an needs you might have, and its made my Yamaha and my Fender wonderful pieces of wall art because of this guitar! Also, the wonderful staff at Sweetwater not only had this guitar ready to play because of their extensive inspection, but they also made the fear of purchasing this online completely disappear.

Love it !!

The whole experience from start to finish was as seamless as one could hope for. The guitar is as pretty as the pictures.

Love Sweetwater

By Paul from Florida on September 20, 2019

I had never purchased a guitar on line, but Sweetwater and Matt Zuleger have made the experience wonderful. Even when I had an issue with the instrument, Sweetwater and Matt have worked it out wonderfully....I am very pleased with this place and personnel and would recommend them to my musical friends...Keep up the great work

Great guitar!

By Jack Moncayo from mansfield, OH USA on March 16, 2013 Music Background: Live musician

I love this guitar! I ordered it and my sales rep called and said it was back ordered, but somehow it came to my house within 3 days! When i first started playing it I was blown away. It has a great almost twangy tone if you play hard enough. This is my first performance level acoustic guitar and I've already used it for a bar gig and it was outstanding. I am very satisfied with this guitar and do not see myself upgrading to a more expensive acoustic anytime soon. Taylor really delivers! The only thing is that the craftsmanship isn't perfect as there are some quality issues especially around where the neck connects to the body, and the electronics are on the bright side. However, you can easily dial off the highs.

excellent craftmanship, excellent sound.

By Sweetwater Customer from New York City on December 21, 2012 Music Background: musician

The guitar itself sounds beautiful. It's very bright, which is consistent with the research I found before purchasing the guitar. I was able to play one before buying it and couldn't believe how easy it was to play. I actually sound like a better guitarist with this guitar. The neck is perfectly smooth, and the playability lives up to the taylor brand.

Because the guitar has such a bright sound, the high end is accentuated when it's plugged in and you're using the pickups, so I run it through an EQ pedal for live performances to make it less harsh. That really fixes everything for me.

I've recorded with it quite a bit already through a mic, not direct-in, and it sounds beautiful. ZERO regrets on this purchase.

Good acoustic electric

By Mick Luehrman from Kansas City, Missouri on November 8, 2012 Music Background: pro-musician, singer-songwriter

Bought this model a year ago. Plays like a dream. Action very fast. Precision of the neck allows for action to be set low and not buzz. Ebony fingerboard is luscious--wonderfully silky smooth. It plays more like my electric than other acoustic guitars I have (Martin, Takamine, Alvarez). Great sounding finger style instrument. Not as good for "strumming" with a pick. Can be a bit harsh when plugged in (Fender Acoustasonic). I often end up rolling off almost all of the treble to reduce the harshness when strumming with a pick. I use a 31 band graphic eq and that helps a lot also. I do kind of wish I had stepped up to a higher end model to get the full Taylor Expression system. Thinking it might be less treble-y. On the other hand, I think this treble characteristic is probably part of what makes it sound so good as a finger style guitar. My first Taylor and I must say the craftsmanship on my 214ce is excellent. All in all, I'm quite pleased with the instrument

Great guitar needed work.

By Sweetwater Customer on April 15, 2020

I'm a luthier so I'm lucky. Came needing TLC. Nut needed some work (had to cut fallaway). Relielf had to be set. The issues I had usually come on entry level to medium level instruments. I would bring it in for a set up immediately after receiving it. Plays perfect now.
