Taylor’s good but two is better

By Tim Joyce from Spring House, Pa. on December 11, 2023 Music Background: Lifetime amateur fun loving hell raiser

I have to say this Taylor 214ce K sb is a lot of guitar for the money. Great tone, smooth action and awesome ES2 electronics. I'm playing through a fishman acoustic mini and it sounds bright, crisp and clean. Everyone knows what a great guitar Taylor produces but getting the Mini GS as a bonus is just too much to pass up. I found this beautiful acoustic in the scratch and dent category and I can't find the blemish it's supposed to have. What a magnificent deal. Sweetwater serves up a deep discount and honors the Bogo deal. When you add it all up it's literally two for the price of one. Who doesn't love that deal? I couldn't be happier with the Sweet Sweetwater deal. You can't talk about Sweetwater without mentioning Customer Service. There just isn't any other Music Store online that gets close to the kind of service you get from Sweetwater. The moment you put something in your cart you get the best online shopping experience ever. Period end of conversation. I have to thank Anthony Longano for helping with this purchase and a couple of other guitars that I recently purchased. Love my Pro ll Stratocaster perfectly setup thanks to Anthony's expertise.
Love the two Taylors guitars thanks to Anthony and Joshua Morse. I have a D'Angelico mini in the pipeline and can't wait to feel the setup that Anthony recommended. Get ready Anthony I'm looking for a combo amp.

Wow

A joy to play

By Adam Blodgett from OLYMPIA, WA on September 14, 2023 Music Background: Intermediate

I've had this guitar for two years, I play it everyday, it sounds great and feels great. With low gauge strings I can play a long time without staining my hands.

The sound is lovely. Warm and robust, with the potential for loudness when called for.

And it looks great. I love the sunburst. It's a pleasure to look at, okay, and listen to.

Worth it

By Paul Galloway from Mogadore, OH on March 30, 2023 Music Background: Working musician

I am in love with this guitar. The look, the playability and the sound are all extraordinary. I have a Taylor 110 that I installed a Fishman under saddle pickup that I thought was pretty great. Then I ordered this... A huge difference. The stock electronics sound incredible. If you are on the fence, don't be.

A great guitar.

By Nick from Tennessee on March 18, 2023 Music Background: About 20 years, all kinds of music.

The value: I think this is one of the best guitars in its price range. There are other guitars for sure but this in my opinion is a real winner. It's is my first taylor but it gives me a high opinion of them..I've played some before but this is my first time owning one.

The tone: The taylor "sparkle" is there but there is a great low end to it as well. The eq curve is fairly balanced but it has alot more warmth than what I expected and yet alot of highs too. Very responsive too, You can dig in and the overtones jump out or get that softer sound but it doesn't take much to get the top moving. Some guitars that promise the tone benefits of a solid top seem to still lack that dynamic range. This have more to do with the fact many cheaper guitars with a solid top are finished too heavy and over built; the top is to thick and the bracing is done likewise not to mention heavy polly finish) Not so with this. Tons of resonance here. So what you can expect is a big balanced tone, handles strumming and fingerpicking equally well. The highs are highs the lows are low and the mids are present. The overtones are typical of a good spruce top. I do believe the tone woods chosen for laminate back and sides influence the resonance; warm and sweet is a good description.

The build; I mentioned some of this before. This feels sturdy but not stiff. The execution of the fit and finish is spotless. I can't describe it or put my finger on it. My other guitars are built and finished well but this is somehow different, smother? For example one of my cheaper guitars the underside of the top and bracing feels like they forgot the sanding step. Things like come are a cheaper cost and don't effect appearance but I'm sure they effect sound. It's this attention to detail the taylor shines at. No loose ends. The guitar is the sum of its parts. All to often people focus on the specs on paper but forget how much the specs actually carried out in the build quality matter. Not all spruce top /laminate back and side mahogany neck guitars are equal. Again I say all that to say this is the difference between a cheaper guitar that has these specs vs the 200 series Taylor's.

The set up: it's more than usable. About right where id want it. I don't think I'll be messing with it. I really enjoy it where the action is. And shipping with elixer strings is a real bonus. I plan on just using them until they have no life left.

The case: these are very nice as well. A heavy paded gig bag with a structured layer is really nice, I think any gigging musician would feel confident using this case.

In total it's a great guitar.

Great for the money

By Will Chaney from Nevada City, CA on December 8, 2022

I'd say it outperforms most acoustics in and around the price range. Solid dependable acoustic/electric. Probably only buy if you'll regularly plug in, otherwise just get the version with no electronics as I think the resonance has suffered a bit.

Love it!!

By Sweetwater Customer on November 25, 2022

I'm very happy with the sound of my 214. It has a large enough body that it does a great job of projecting sound but it's shallow enough to be very comfortable to play.

I haven't plugged it in yet because I haven't felt the need to do so, but from what I've heard about the ES-2 pickup system, I'm sure it will be fine.

Just Buy it Already!

By Michael Johnson from LAYTON, UT on September 7, 2022 Music Background: Hobby

I'm more of a beginner guitarist, so I don't have a lot of experience, but I've really loved playing my Orangewood Oliver M ($200 guitar). Then I bought this Taylor 214ce-k almost a year ago, and now sadly that great little Orangewood guitar is probably feeling very neglected. This is the kind of guitar that makes me feel like I should practice more so I can deserve to own it. It's one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen, everything about it is perfect. The sound from it is so pure and so loud, it just makes me want to play it because it sounds so good! It's a lot lighter than my Orangewood and has no back bracing which I was worried about, but it seems to be holding up great. I love that Sweetwater allowed me to choose the exact guitar that I wanted with detailed pictures of it as well, I knew exactly what I was getting. It arrived with high action, but after a setup at a local guitar store the action is perfect and smooth. The soft bag it came with is excellent, but since I have kids, I bought a hard case from Sweetwater and it fits perfectly. I recently took the guitar out and started playing after maybe two weeks just sitting in its case, and I completely forgot to tune it. I honestly wasn't super surprised to find that it was perfectly in tune after sitting for so long. Everything about this guitar is incredible, and I can't recommend it enough

Beautiful look and sound

By Nat on September 1, 2022

I absolutely love this guitar! The sound quality is so clear and striking. The finish on it is stunning, and I am very pleased with my purchase. Also, the intentionality of this company is absolutely amazing! I have been blown away by the service I've received and the community feel of having a personal sales engineer is so unique and awesome about this company. Would 100% buy from this company again!!

Great live sound

By Ren Beazley from Callahan, FL on July 6, 2022 Music Background: Live musician for 15 years. Punk, Rock, Country

Just the sound I'm looking for with my live gigs. I love how you have to do a double take to even realize it's electric because the cable plus in at the strap post and the knobs are almost unnoticeable on the top side. Sound is sweet. Not too tinny and all strings are heard at equal volume

She sounds as good as she looks, and plays easy right out of the box.

Amazing Guitar

By Kenny G from La Jolla, CA on October 22, 2021 Music Background: Experienced Amateur, starting to play gigs

I love my new Taylor, it plays like a dream, sounds amazing and looks great too. Best guitar I have ever owned, really enjoy the sound of the Koa. It really picks up the nuances in playing compared to my cheaper Guild made in China. Its great for fingerpicking or strumming. After dropping the action a little, it plays so easily, I can play for hours. The gig bag is a step up from the older ones too. If you are thinking about a Taylor, the 214 is a great model. I tried all 3, they are all great in their own way.
This was my first order from Sweetwater and my sales rep, Joel Helton went above and beyond to get me this beautiful guitar after I changed my mind at the last minute. Thanks to Sweetwater for the 3 payments.

Great Guitar

By Cheryl Connelly from Mississippi on June 4, 2021 Music Background: None

I purchased this guitar for my husband as a surprise. He absolutely loves it and it comes with a nice guitar case. My go to guy Jerrod DeMott was a great help with all my guitar needs. I myself know absolutely nothing about guitars and accessories for it. Jerrod is very knowledgeable and a great help. If you purchase this guitar you won't be sorry. Sweetwater is a great company.

Amazing acoustic guitar

By Sweetwater Customer on March 8, 2021

This guitar plays like a dream and it sounds amazing. Came absolutely perfectly setup from Sweetwater (during a snowstorm no less) in just a couple days. I can barely put this guitar down since I got it. It has a beautiful, sparkly, bright tone that sounds great whether you're strumming or fingerpicking. Plus the guitar look great and it really stands out.

If you're not sure if you should pull the trigger on this, just do it. Taylor makes an amazing guitar.

Great Sound
Beautiful Finish

Deep rich tone

By Mike from New Bern, NC on March 10, 2023 Music Background: Been making music of some sort for over 60 years.

I was hesitant to buy a guitar that I hadn't put my hands on, or heard, but I was not disappointed with my purchase. It sounds every bit as mellow as I had hoped it would. If I have one complaint it would be that it's a little difficult to keep tuned. I love the feel of the neck and the overall weight of the guitar. I highly recommend this guitar for anyone that's thinking about buying one.

Amazing Martin

Great guitar

By Ray W. from Ellwood City, PA on July 25, 2022 Music Background: Intermediate level hobbyist

The Taylor 214ce-K SB is a very nice instrument. I was looking for a guitar to use in my acoustic trio, one that would allow me to leave my more expensive guitars at home, while still providing an acceptable sound. This guitar provides exactly what I needed. All in all, it's still a great guitar for gigging. My Sweetwater rep, Brandon Eden, took my order at 10:00 A.M., and my guitar was in my hands exactly 24 hours later. You just can't ask for better service than that.
