Taylor 214ce-K Acoustic-electric Guitar - Natural Reviews
The Taylor 214ce-K acoustic-electric guitar is a celebration of innovation. Bob Taylor’s signature Grand Auditorium body shape has the width and depth of a dreadnought, but its tapered waist and graceful contours make it look like a smaller instrument and impart balance and presence to the big sound, making it a favorite of recording engineers. With its slender, fast neck, the 214ce-K plays like a Taylor — which is to say, effortlessly. With its gorgeous koa back and sides, solid Sitka spruce top, and built-in ES2 electronics, the Taylor 214ce-K is your ticket to great things.

Upgrade ++++
I bought this as my latest upgrade for my Worship team equipment. I am impressed! This guitar was love at first strum. I can play light and get a very soft sound or can hit a hard strum and this guitar will just set the house on fire. The dynamic range is incredible. It has the bottom end I was looking for and the high shimmer of the taylor sound along with the midrange I was wanting. Our sound guy gave me the thumbs up......he likes the sound too. It cut thru the mix with no problem. I don't think you can go wrong with this "sound beast" it is definitely my go to acoustic from now on.
214CE-K
Excellent guitar!
First, Joel Helton is the best Sales rep. Very helpful and patient as I decided on my Taylor. I was torn between the Koa version and the Sunburst. I chose this Koa version and could not be happier. Plays like a dream. I personally like the natural finish, feels great. Some may prefer the finish on the plus or deluxe, but the natural just feels right to me. Beautiful sound and excellent projection. The shape of the 214 is much more comfortable to me that a standard dreadnought. Fits into your body. Very happy with the purchase and look forward to years of playing.
Highly recommend this model.
Worth the Upgrade
as a Beginner/intermediate, stepped up to this guitar. The sound and quality encourages me to want to learn more and play more. Exactly what i was hoping when upgrading my acoustic.
Taylor 214ce-k
After weeks and weeks of research I finally decided to purchase a Taylor 214ce-k and go through Sweetwater to do it. I'd do it again in a heartbeat! I called Sweetwater around 9pm CST on a Thursday and spoke with Jacob Stutzman. I had my guitar picked out and in my cart but I wanted to verify a few things with him. He was very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. He ended up placing the order for me and it was at my door Sunday afternoon! It was packaged very well and in perfect tune straight out the box. I absolutely love it and Sweetwater is the real deal.
Taylor 214ce-K Acoustic/Electric Guitar - Natural
I began with a call to Henry Moore, my sales rep at Sweetwater. We discussed what I was looking for in an Acoustic/electric guitar and he gave me a few 'options' to consider. I took a ride out to Sweetwater, which is the greatest guitar store I have ever been to and tried out all the guitars Henry had mentioned. I found the Taylor 214ce -K Acoustic/Electric Guitar - Natural (satin finish) to be the perfect guitar for me. The size was extremely comfortable, and the sound was amazing. The satin finish was new to me, and I have come to like it very much. After owning the guitar for several months, I can honestly highly recommend it. The comfort of the guitar, the tone and the fact it stays in tune make it my favorite acoustic guitar. My sincerest 'Thanks' to my online sales rep, Henry Moore and the floor sales rep, Ethan, who assisted me at checkout. Both were extremely pleasant to deal with and I commend Sweetwater for the wonderful work environment provided for both employees and customers. I have now made four guitar purchases from Sweetwater and highly recommend them to everyone.
I love this guitar
I've always been an electric guy. Acoustics just don't get me excited. Until now. I've tried others in the past many years ago had an Ovation and a Martin and still no excitement. This guitar makes me want to play and makes me sound better. The action is great and it resonates beautifully. I was concerned it might not project enough and it could be louder but if I strum harder it gets louder and still sounds good. And if I hook to to my Fishman mini OMG this thing sounds like I'm filling an auditorium. You can not go wrong with this guitar!
Excellent guitar
Excellent guitar, as always with acoustic guitars you have to play it yourself, but this is a very brightly toned guitar. the strings that came with it are very smooth and also are good for bends. (yes I play bends on an acoustic) This guitar also gives excellent sounds for open tunings, specifically the tuning used when a partial capo is implemented.
Smooth and crisp
Love this guitar because it gives you the range for different genres of music!
So glad I purchased this guitar
I purchased this guitar about 2 months ago and I am as pleased as I can be that I did. I ordered it on a Tuesday and it arrived on Friday. It's beautiful, light, sounds amazing and plays like a dream. The KOA really catches your eye, The fretboard is smooth and fast and the bracing produces a beautiful and silky, full and deep sound. The guitar came very well packaged, just as the other reviews stated. I extracted it from the box to find it was perfectly in tune and had been set up masterfully before shipping. The electronics are first-rate. The sound guy at my church marveled at how much better it sounded through our system than our assigned guitar. The gig bag is the best in the business, as well. Thank you Sweetwater for an exceptional first buy-on-line experience. Everyone I spoke to or messaged was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this guitar.
Best Idea
The low end sounds so thick. Overall it just sounds so beautiful. The electric output sounds very true as well. Great guitar.
Gift for son
I bought this guitar for my son who is stationed overseas. He received it 12 days after it shipped which is lightning fast for an overseas APO address. He said it is hands down the best guitar he's ever played. The acoustics are AMAZING!! Caleb was our sales engineer and he did and outstanding job from start to finish. I highly recommend Sweetwater, the Taylor 214ce-K Acoustic-Electric Guitar - Natural, and Caleb if you're looking for excellent customer service, dependability and high quality. Very satisfied. I will 100% buy from them again.
Absolutely stunning!
Boy howdy is this guitar beautiful! The only thing more beautiful about this guitar is how is sounds! This was my first taylor after being recommended by my buddy's father and trying his. I've learned on hand-me-down cheap acoustics and the difference is night and day! The elixer strings it comes with are loud and bright! And make it super easy to slide chords up and down the neck of the guitar. I've tasted the next tier in gear and I'm never looking back! If you're thinking about getting this guitar, just do it, you won't regret it.
Beautiful
First of all you can't go wrong with a Taylor. That said, I have played an epiphone along side a 414ce and a 214ce and couldn't hold my own.
After 2 months of hard decisions i decided on the 214, and of course if you're going to buy a... guitar might as well make it a... right? I could resist. Putting the 214 against the 214k you can't even compared the looks. The koa is absolutely stunning. I dont know how the deluxe could be any better. I couldnt help but just stare at it for a few minutes. Pictures dont do it justice at all.
The sound is that of a Taylor. The sound is clear and cuts clean through a mix. And the resonance and sustain is unreal. A cheap acoustic cant touch it. The electronics are solid and work wonderful.
My only complaint, and this is merely preference, but the elixer 12's were so hard to play. They sound amazing but It feels like im strumming bass strings. I play a lot of bar chords so I got fatigued quick.
I swapped them to some 10s and they lost a little "meat" to the sound but the playability made up for it.
Overall i love this guitar. It sounds great, plays great, and looks great. Oh, and of course the staff at sweetwater are great too! I ordered this a few days after the big freeze and through ice and blizzard they got it to me and only showed up 1 day later than expected!! These guys are great! Highly recommended. Play on!
First Taylor
This is my first Taylor I have ever owned and it certainly won't be the last. The back is absolutely beautiful, The sound is unparalleled. Amazing guitar for such a value price. I hope one day I can get one of the more expensive ones, but for now this gem will do. Such a rich warm sound. If I was to buy again I would try to do the deal that usually offers a free baby Taylor. Such a bummer I didn't get the chance to do so, you never know when the sale is going to happen. Definitely recommend buying.
Love it
This is a sweet guitar, and Brian is the best! Ask for him. I have now bought three guitars from Sweetwater and couldn't be happier!
Great Taylor...
I was going to get the 224ce-K with a solid Koa top, but after reading the reviews from both pros and amateurs about the difference between Sitka Spruce or Koa top, I decided to get this one... I am very pleased with the sound and the quality of this guitar (my first Taylor). I replace the original tuners with a gold Taylor set that I also purchased here at Sweetwater... (I just love the look of gold tuners) and for a bonus, I got me a Baby Taylor(e)... What a deal.
Awesome guitar for the money.
After trying a couple different guitars in the same price range, I decided on the Taylor Koa. It looks and sounds amazing for the price. The neck has a nice satin finish, and feels super comfortable to play. The action was perfect. I won't have to make a single adjustment. It came with a hard gig bag. Overall, I am super pleased with my purchase. I'm also very happy with Sweetwater's excellent customer service, and sales. Sweetwater is sweet!!!
214ce-K
Nice !!! Second Taylor. Go to for just jammin'.
Affordable Taylor quality
Overall the guitar sounds great and after a having the nut and saddle tweeked, the fret ends dressed and the satin finish on the neck polished with steel wool, it plays better than any acoustic I have ever played. Also, the Koa back and sides has drawn a lot of complements from my friends and bandmates.
I'm trying out the Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze strings which brighten the tone a bit and are very playable - I think I will stay with this string on my 214.
Low frets make for too many muffed notes
I really really wish I had it pleked
Weirdly sensitive to where you pick it. Below the sound hole is harsh.
Certified teshs are far from me, and I don't like shipping guitars, have had too many probs.
Much happier with a martin 213ce in same price range.
