The 2128 “Helios” Microphone Preamp is the H2 Audio 0011 mic preamp/EQ module, but now available in a convenient 500 Series unit. It's not hyperbole to say the 2128 is one of the most value-packed 500 Series preamps that Sweetwater studio engineers have encountered. The 2128 gives you 25–75dB of gain in 5dB increments, a custom Lustraphone input transformer, an output amp section with transformer out, and an output fader for +10dB of gain. The 2128 doesn’t stop there, though; also onboard are a -20dB pad, +48V phantom power, a Phase switch, and a highpass filter switch with the original Helios’s cutoff points of 0Hz, 40Hz, and 80Hz. It's never been easier to get that classic British Invasion sound in your rack and in your tracks!

Best of Class
Without question, my H2 Audio 2128 are the best of the 500 series mic pres I own. The same is true with the H2 Audio 5211 EQ. I have an API 2448 here. I love the API 550A but the 5011 EQs I've swapped out across channels 17-22 have become my favorite overall in the console and will probably add two more to round out a block of eight. I typically use the 2128 pres via patching directly into the Burl BAD8s for independent tracking. Don't need a console or eq for that. If I was putting together a new Hybrid studio, I would start with a pair of H2 2128 mic pres to capture my analog for working in the box.
