TASCAM 202MKVII Dual Cassette Deck with USB
TASCAM 202MKVII Dual Cassette Deck with USB Reviews
A growing trend toward cassette releases and an ongoing need to quickly archive old LPs and mixtapes has given rise to the TASCAM 202mkVII dual cassette deck. This modern, professional 3U rackmount cassette player/recorder is perfect for transfer facilities, houses of worship, and your own personal arsenal. Variable playback speed and onboard noise reduction extract maximum performance from your old cassettes. And RTZ (return to zero) and cue modes offer modern playback performance in the digital age. The onboard USB connection is extra cool, allowing you to archive your entire cassette library in all its analog glory. Best of all, the 202mkVII comes with a handheld remote so you can control your audio from anywhere in the room. When you find yourself in tape territory, the TASCAM 202mkVII makes everything possible.
Finally
My studio has needed this Tascam deck for over two decades. Many additional production elements compared to 1985 when I wished I had one of these
Tascam 202 MK V II Cassette Deck
Great deck I originally bought it new but sweetwater only had a Demo so I decided to try it. It works well general playback ability and recording. I gave it a 4 star because the heads had residue from the previous use, I felt if it were checked it would have a clean capstan wheel and heads had a bit of strange red muck on them but it all was removable.
An Outstanding Dual Cassette Deck - Rock Solid Equipment
The Tascam (Teac's Higher End Equipment Monoiker) is a rock solid performer. It is the Modern Deck that does a great job recording and playing back Cassettes. Although it doesn't quite achieve the levels of the Classic Decks of yesteryear, it is pretty darn close. For the Money, it is a Winner. Great Looks, with great performance. You won't be disappointed with Tascam Quality. I have other Tascam equipment which all works Flawlessly.
It’s TASCAM!
TASCAM is an industry standard for a reason…quality and dependability. A bit expensive for a dual cassette recorder, however, Sweetwater ALWAYS has the BEST price around! You guys are great!!! The TASCAM CD-RW900SX recorder also came from Sweetwater…thanks for everything.
Equipment purchases
I have ordered 4 items in the past year and I can't tell you how pleased I am with the performance of each item. I was contacted by a representative each time I ordered and was given a tracking number and even a follow up assurimg the item arrived and asked if I was satisfied with the product. In my opinion Sweetwater is the most professional company I have ever purchased from and will continue to do business with them.
Tascam 202MkVII Cassette Deck
There are not many choices in cassette decks these days. Luckily this unit is high-quality and available. It should last for many years.
Some may wonder why anyone would want a cassette deck any more. A little research will reveal that cassettes are still a popular medium for some major artists and the only medium for some others.
I have a collection of old cassettes that I am digitizing using this deck and Audacity software. Some of these are live recordings unavailable elsewhere and in excess of 40 years old. The Tascam plays them flawlessly.
Best Modern Cassette Deck
Rock Solid Tascam Quality
Holy *** this thing is rock solid! Tascam quality throughout. Solidly built and easy to use. Like working with tape through a digital interface. And it's all the little things that count. Tape alignment guides on both the playback and record heads, pitch control, 1/4 mic jack with trim, Dolby noise reduction, timer, remote control! Even the magnifying glass in the doors so you can see the tape better.
I used to use Tascam 4-track recorders back in the 90's for all my recording (still have one I pull out once in awhile), and this thing is even better quality than those old machines. This is more than worth the price. Tascam pioneered cassette tape technology starting in the 70's through to this day. You can trust them over anyone else.
Good while it lasted
I bought this and a commercial home type cassette deck about the same time some years ago. The Tascam was definitely a more solid unit. However, it just stopped moving the tapes on both sides while the non-professional unit continues to work today. I've always like Tascam but this was an expensive disappointment.
