I purchased this case for the Steve Harris Fender P bass as part of a gift I gave my son with the help of Matt Subers. My son has made it abundantly clear how much he loves both the guitar and this case. He emphasized the fit is perfect and the case provides exceptional protection!

Fender J Bass fits perfectly.

I don't intend to use it much, but quality is what I expected. Tough exterior and soft plush interior.

This is a nice case but it has a horrible chemical smell that you can't get rid of. I've tried activated charcoal and leaving it out in the sun for several hours but it still smells terrible. Not recommended.

Haven't actually traveled with it yet, but my 4 string Fender Precision Bass fits like a glove, and the case seems to be extremely well-made and sturdy.

This Skb 44 pro case is built far better than the Fender case. As usual, Sweetwater shipped promptly. I only use Sweetwater. Thanks guys!

I tried this out on my Lakland Skyline Deluxe 55-02, and liked it pretty well... only thing I didn't love is the lower tuning key on the G, because i have 5 strings, slides into the case fine but rests/pushes a little on the hinge side of the case when you go to pick up the case (i.e. the bass is sideways with it's weight toward the hinge side). I don't think this would cause any stress most likely but i still went with a different case, the fender deluxe molded bass case. If I didn't have that tuning key there, I def would've kept this case.

I love this case for all of my Fender-type Basses! Fender used to offer this and changed to a different design and I don't like the locks or stacking ability so I get this instead for my live show gear. Years ago I broke a handle-my fault and SKB sent me a free replacement. Quality gear with Sweetwater's service, can't get better than that!

This case will definitely protect you Bass and that's the reason for a case. Fits my jazz bass better than any other I have had however 41/2 stars because not a lot of extra room. Would buy again.

This is a solid, heavy case. Very secure. The latches are quality and easy to open and close. Even Airline friendly. Did I say it was heavy. Oh boy is it heavy. Heavier than the bass it's holding. The padded handle helps. There is enough room in it for a cord and my 10.5 inch tablet. It does lock too. I would have no qualms checking this in on an airline flight.

The quality of this case is top notch. Exceptionally well made with robust latches, a solid handle, plus a nice layout inside. Unfortunately, it does NOT fit a Yamaha TRBX504, contrary to what another reviewer said. (It's way too big and there's a foam stop block on the lid right where the control knobs are.) But if this is a certified fit for your bass, don't hesitate! Great customer service and a hassle-free experience with Sweetwater, as always.

I haven't tested it by surfing on it down the stairs or anything like that, but considering how snug my bass guitar is inside this case it would fair very well in the event of such abuse. It is a very solid case. Since my guitar is precious to me, I dare not put it in anything less than this quality of case.

There's not any special frills to this case. There's enough room for a short cable and a tuner with no worries of bouncing around and wrecking your guitar finish.

The next grade up would be a better shell of carbon fiber aluminum or titanium, maybe add some LEDs for dark backstage storage, but just buying a new bass guitar I didn't have the cash for anything fancy. This case will do the job in a pinch without regrets in the distant future…you may never find the need to upgrade unless you obsess over stuff like that.

I recently picked up an early aughts US Lakland 55-94 on the secondary market and knew for a variety of reasons that the stock white tolex case wouldn't stand up to the regular travel and future gigging that I had in store. My roto rack cases and old standard bass case (for my Mex P and Lakland 5501) had already been through a few hundred gigs without any major issues, so I knew I would probably stick with SKB.

My only gripe with the standard bass case i had been using was the fit for the smaller Lakland body style and extra long scale (slightly loose and short) so I called up my sales rep Keaton to get the skinny. He recommended the 44PRO since the sweetwater guys had already tested the fit on this particular bass model. He was not wrong! It fits like a glove, with nearly zero movement and enough room for the headstock to not bump the edge of the case! It's built like a tank, with neck support all the way up, rigid interior foam, sturdy ATA locks, and a solid ABS shell. There are even bumpers on the lid to keep the body firmly in place when closed!

Interior plush covering and storage area are very nice, and the handle is perfectly balanced. I can see getting many years of use out of this guy without a worry about my baby inside, whether throwing it it the back seat of my car to go to rehearsal or the studio, or stacked in the van for when we can get back out on the road. I would almost trust it to then baggage handlers, though its still going to be a gate check.. Now I just need to get my sticker game going again, and maybe get more for my other basses! Strongly recommend to anyone who brings their bass all over town.

This case is a great value for the money. It is very light, and is sturdy enough to withstand the usual abuse from travelling and gigging. It fits my P-bass perfectly, and has plenty of room for straps, tuners, cables, and other odd stuff that players typically have to haul. Thanks to A.J. I bought two of these wonders. The shipping company truck carrying them apparently had a traffic accident - each of them had been walloped badly on one corner. I pushed, mashed etc. on the one that was crushed in the worst, and it did not budge! This told me that the ABS was sturdy even after the violence done to it. Amazingly, both cases opened and closed in perfect alignment, and both my Fender J Bass and Lakland P styles both fit securely without pinching. Even the hinges were perfect, no binding or looseness! Absolutely an incredible design. Lightweight yet very protective, this case is an engineering marvel that puts the vinyl-covered plywood cases to shame. Ryan Wiltermood has two more on their way, and I look forward to nesting my highly-prized basses in them. I bought this case because I have a gig that I have to carry my gear more than two blocks and I am trying to downsize. This case is great! It has a ton more room than my Jazz bass case and it fits my Musicman Stingray 5. My Jazz bass fits perfectly and the Stingray fits snug enough that I do not have a concern about it moving around in the case. With this case I can carry either bass, my Tech 21 bass fly rig, a strap, power cords, wireless unit, and spare batteries with room to spare. I can nearly fit and entire bass rig in this case. I am very happy!

This case has been the best protection and the lightest weight case I have used for all my Precision and jazz style basses. The neck is cradled full length with durable soft material. There is plenty of room for extras in the roomy side pockets. I especially like the weight savings over usual hard cases. The latches work well and have never opened unintended for me. The handle is padded and well balanced. Have two of this one, most of my five strings fit also, love it.

While I am not blown away, I do believe this is an excellent case. It closes tight. It is very secure. It can travel anywhere I would go, planes, trains, and automobiles. And it is not overly heavy. It balances well when carrying plus it holds my 4" wide strap with strap locks when folded into the carry all section. I also have a guitool combo plus a micro cloth and it all fits in easy with room to spare. It does not fit my SR1400 bass really tight. The bass has some wiggle room; enough to put a humidifier in it comfortably. I like it and would buy another one should I need another case. Money well spent.

I recently purchased a Lakland Skyline bass and decided I needed to protect it better than a soft gig bag. After reviewing the cases available here and a few other sites, I decided to go with the SKB Pro Series. It was worth the extra money I paid for the case's lightness and durability. It is incredibly light; which is fantastic. I am not a big guy and the light weight helps tremendously when I'm carting my equipment around from home to school. I've only had it a few days and not enough time to give it a proper beating, but it appears durable. It is a good looking case, as well. My only complaint would be that the the top corner edge, near the neck, does not align perfectly and I have to give a gentle push to close it. I'd recommend this case to anyone. It's worth spending the few extra dollars to protect the thing you love.

I'm so glad I spent a little more for a case upgrade. I was thinking of buying the "good" bass case, but opted to buy the "better" case. I can definitely tell where the extra money went. This case is a mad dog. I'm very impressed with the design and the build quality. The SKB 44 Pro has a nice durable feel. The grippy rubbery handle is comfortable and the case is well balanced once the bass is inside. It fits my Yamaha TRBX504 bass almost like it was custom made for it, but it also fits a larger five string ESP-B-5E. The four latches are nice and beefy and they snap securely. I can't imagine this case opening by accident. The hardware is much nicer than the dinky shiny plated metal latches on the cases at the next level down. This case isn't quite Pelican grade indestructible, but it's not 30 pounds and it doesn't cost as much as my bass. I'd say there's a good chance that this case would even survive the airport baggage handling goons, but those guys can wreck an anvil. I particularly like the way the bass is stored at an angle to slightly reduce the overall length, because that also allows one larger storage area at the front, instead of the two smaller areas on a more symmetrical case design, making it more likely to be able to accommodate larger accessories such as effects pedals.

This just came today with the UPS guy. To be honest I was a little skeptical that my new Sire Marcus Miller V-7 4 string was going to fit but my bass dropped into this case like it was made for it and the fit is nice and snug. The V-7 is patterned after Miller's 73 J anyway and it turned out that I was needlessly nervous. Great construction, fit and finish is spot on and it beats the heavy duty gig bag that the bass comes with by a mile and a half. Plenty of room for my wire, mic, tuner and a little tin with spare batteries etc. If you're looking for a rock solid case for your baby look no further than the SKB Pro.

Well, it's an SKB case so it's pretty much what I expected. You get what you pay for. There's a reason they're the industry standard in guitar (and bass) cases

I ordered this case because I had the Fender version of the same case and loved it. I recently discovered SKB is making these under their brand. The case has a sturdy outside shell and really good latches. The latches are what sold me on this case. Now what kinda bothers me about the case I received is that when the case is all closed and latched the side flexes and squeeks when I lift the case with the handle. My other SKB Fender case does not do that, so maybe a little repairing is in order but I expected better for the price paid.
All in all a really good case!

I took a chance with an educated guess on this case and it could not be more perfect. It fits my Dingwall Super P bass with no wiggle room at all. It's as though it was made just for this bass. I couldn't be happier. On top of the perfect fit it is also clearly a well made and very protective case. !00% recommended.

Not a copy or knock off but this is the exact same case fender issued with some guitars a while back. Perfect fit for fenders, squiers, and clones. Even my luthier commented that it was a really nice case. It's light and durable. The only thing that could make it better would be if the inner storage area had a lid. Seriously, stop reading and buy this already.

CONSIDER other cases - my 1983 P Bass flops inside the case when I carry it - bums me out so i had to add a dust cloth under the body. This is a "generic" case, not a perfect fit. Nice case though...

Fender used to use these for their U.S. made basses a few years back. Not anymore. So, I bought this to replace the sub-standard case that came with my recent purchase of a new U.S. model bass. Quality, solid construction. skids on the ends to protect the metal seem. Large, rugged latches that don't pop open when bumped. Great case!

Solid Durable Case. Have been using SKB for over 20 years. Nothing else comes close.

I found this case fit my Lakland fretless Active Jazz, even with it's longer neck.

Just returned from a coast to coast US trip. This case worked out really great for airline travel. The TSA appears to have opened the case at one point, but it was locked when I picked it up, so those TSA latches work. The thing is wonderfully constructed, much lighter than the Anvil case I used to lug, and has great protection where the neck meets the headstock, where 99% of damage to electric guitars seems to occur. This thing is tough. You can't go wrong for most use. I'll post another review the next time I go to Europe from the US.

Recomended by my Sales Rep. Adam, I admit I was a bit skeptical as the case looked large and heavy in the pix. To my surprise it was actually the opposite. Perhaps gives the impression that I am carrying something much more aggressive but, of course it does not. I wish I had this case back in my traveling days. Highly recommended and works great with my new Lakland or other Fender Style basses!

This is a great case. I purchased this for my recently acquired G&L ASAT bass. Since it is a P/J body case, I was a little worried about the fit. The ASAT fits great, and the quality of the case puts my mind at ease. Plus great service from Sweetwater.

This is a very nice case. The shell is thicker than a standard Fender plastic case and the handle is stronger too.There is plenty of internal padding and the bass fits snugly into it. The molded body section is formed to both the Precision and Jazz Bass models where some of the padding doesn't contact the body completely around since the basses are shaped differently but it does contact it enough on the entire top and near the knobs at the bottom to keep the bass from moving. It fits pretty tight actually with my Fender PJ which is a Precision body and Jazz neck. The latches are as about as good as you can get without going full blown ATA. For as rugged as this case is it isn't as heavy as you might think by looking at it. It's not extremely light because the case does have substance. I'd rather lift and extra pound or two and keep my axe safe. I'm sure this thing could handle the baggage facilities at an airport.

Amazing case for a touring band. Very sold and dependable.

Sturdy and well-designed. The latches appear to be robust and secure. The injection molded body provides excellent hardshell protection and is surprisingly lightweight. This is one case that won't break the bank...or your back.

I`ve not had a true hard case. I`ve used a gator case with nylon exterior for my 4 string. I needed another case for my Ibanez sr405
5 string and found this case. It looked to have better latches than most along with a substantial handle. I wouldn`t be afraid to stow this under a bus or on a plane which I wouldn`t dare with my Gator nylon exterior, although I don`t plan to travel with my instruments.
Although it is a little heavier than my Gator case, its not objectionable.
The raised feet on the bottom and side of the case keep it above a wet surface when set down. Lots of storage inside (a little more than my Gator). Plush interior, and it really conforms well to my axe. Sweetwater had it for a great price and even followed up with a courtesy call after it was delivered ! Excellent! What more could you ask for??
