Drawmer 1974 Stereo Parametric Equalizer Reviews
The Drawmer 1974 is a vintage-style stereo 4-band parametric equalizer that delivers the exceptional clarity and analog musicality golden-eared engineers at Sweetwater have come to expect from the English company, which has been making world-class pro audio gear since the early 1980s. The 1974, not surprisingly, takes its sonic inspiration from the great-sounding analog equipment of that era. The 1974 is an EQ for all seasons. You can use it in mastering for subtle shaping tasks that demand a light touch and easy recall, but it's just as capable at surgical sculpting. However you use it, the Drawmer 1974 imparts classic analog warmth and character that is very difficult to emulate in the digital domain.

Very nice EQ.
The construction of this unit is solid, all the knobs a buttons are high quality. I really like the fact that it has low and high pass filters and the bands can be overlap without any phase artifacts. It's very transparent but it has the analog sound that I like. The Q it's adjustable so it cam be use very narrow as a surgical tool to cut trouble frequencies or wide to enhance frequencies. I'm very please with my purchase.
Drawmer 1974
Going on several months of daily use now. Sculpting tones, high/ low cut, boosting too-soft drum attacks, all so good. Dead silent background on my unit so wonder about ground loops for the previous reviewer(?) That said, going to other higher end gear in the chain the next few weeks so we'll see. Great to have the bypass so easily accessed for "reality check" when stuff gets tweaky/ subtle and the hours have been racking up. Would be great to have with just a touch of compression control. But that's what those other units are for. Compared to other eqs, for the price, this gets 5 stars.
Fantastic
This is a really fantastic workhorse EQ. I think many people will look at this for mastering and mix processing, and it does a great job at this. But after using for a while, I'll say that my favorite use case is actually tone shaping and clean up of field recordings and samples. The ability to go from transparent roll offs to overlapping cuts and boosts really lets you zoom in on the interesting bits in the material. And I find that I don't "hear" the EQ as much as when using FabFilter or similar outboard/500 units. When the character does poke through, it has a very subtle vintage British type sound, but smoother and not as pronounced as SSL. Its also great for just boosting high end presence on everything.
Great Buss EQ
I'm using this on my stereo buss while mixing for final refinements. I find it perfect for finding trouble spots and then making minor adjustments as I mix down. I would call it transparent and can be very aggressive or subtle depending on your desire. This is my 3rd drawmer unit and it has not disappointed. Super solid build, great logical layout, and most importantly useful and sounds great!
Built like a tank, Sounds Good
Tough unit, can be very precise or very broad. Wide range of applications. Works well for Mastering.
Drawmer 1974 EQ
The Drawmer 1974 EQ is just as at home in your mixing chain or your mastering chain. The pots are all stepped so recall is possible. Lots of great features and not a lot of unneeded fluff. Sounds great - not completely transparent, but imparts a nice 'body' to your signal without a lot of 'color' if you know what I mean. Another tool in the toolbox. Drawmer equipment is built like a tank. I use Drawmer monitor controllers, compressors and gates, thought I'd add a Drawmer EQ to the mastering desk....glad I did! The only reason I'm giving it 4.5 instead of 5 stars is that for mastering I'd like finer resolution on the controls, otherwise it's a 5!
Noisy circuitry
This item is remarkable. It really picks up the bass and makes it snappy. Makes acoustic bass sound great. Only downside for me is the power supply hum introduced into the signal. Such a remarkably versatile instrument should do a little better on signal purity. Otherwise, if this doesn't matter for you, then, go for it!
