Switchcraft Studio Patch 1625 16-point TT - DB25 Patchbay Reviews

Modular 16-point TT-DB-25 Patchbay

As your gear collection expands and you find yourself in need of a patchbay, it just makes sense to get a patchbay that can grow along with your setup. That's what makes the StudioPatch series 1625 TT patch module from Switchcraft so useful. A single 1625 gives you eight pairs of TT patch points, as well as DB-25 I/O, all at an excellent price. Each pair of the 1625's high-quality TT jacks features Switchcraft's EZ Norm technology, which lets you quickly switch the configuration from full-, half-, or non-normalled - all from the front panel. And since you can easily mount up to five 1625s in a single 1625 Rack 1.5U rack tray, you can buy only the channel count you need, without sacrificing quality or rack space!

Great modular patch bay solution.

By Crysco from New Orleans/Los Angeles
Music Background: producer/wanna be mixing engineer

I started out with one of these units, and gradually added an additional unit every few years as my rack continued to grow. Now up to three, and looking at adding an additional unit soon.

The build quality is amazing, the sound quality is pristine, and I really have enjoyed this option.

Finding the proper mounting screws to secure them to the rec tree can be a challenge, but the reward is definitely worth it.

If you're looking for a professional patchbay solution that you can gradually upgrade with your set up, this is probably your best bet.

It's especially nice because as you upgrade, you don't have to unplug and reroute all your gear when adding additional units. .

Convenient

By Allen

This unit replaced the larger Switchcraft patchbay I had sitting on top of my recording desk. (I was out of rack space) Using it cleared my desk and made the engineer more comfortable. Works great, only needed eight patch points for a red cloud attenuator. Thanks Sweetwater!!

Does it's job

By Montabon S. from Saratoga Springs NY

Does it's job well. I use it to route inserts in and out of my PT HD rig. Easy setup, I love the ability to be able to switch the normals right on the front of the unit.

Switchcraft Studio patch 1625

By CW
Music Background: Small classic studio recording engineer

The Switchcraft 1625 looked like a good idea to sit on top of my MCI JH-600 desk and interface my A&H ICE-16D which has 25 pin D-Subs , to my Bantam based patch bay so I ordered 2 . They arrived in reasonable time and were well packed , but when I opened the box and poked around for some info on them - nothing .

Nothing to indicate whether the D connectors were connected one -to-one with the jacks on the front panel , and frustrating because the D connectors are marked Input at the top and Output at the bottom which is opposite to the generally accepted industry standard . No info on the D connector pin out - yes I know it is supposed to be the Tascam standard , but then I had to find that which wasn't to hand .

No info on the website , and no manual for it any where . The Sweetwater guys tried to help and dug out an installation drawing from somewhere , but incomplete .

No indication which row of jacks was half normalled so that had to tested out as well

Sales blurb proclaimed that ground lift switches were available on the back panel - nope - nothing on the back panel except the D connectors , and had to take the box apart to get to the switches which were on the PC board .

All in all , a neat piece of kit , but spoiled for me initially due to the lack of what could easily have been provided in the form of a brief User Manual , with a diagram or two , which would have enabled me to set it up in minutes rather than wasting an hour taking it apart to test it out and construct my own block diagram and notes

For the record the bottom row of jacks is half normalled when this position is selected and is connected to the "output" D connector
