Boasting 15 watts of valve power, this modest amp kicks out a warm and woody punch through its 10-inch Celestion G10 Creamback speaker, delivering Supro’s iconic crunchy overdrive when pushed into the sweet spot. A switchable 15-watt/5-watt/1-watt power attenuator allows you to capture sweet natural compression and roaring breakup tones at even the politest of volumes — a feature that your local venue’s sound guy/gal is sure to appreciate. Finally, true tube-powered splashy spring reverb and a swampy tremolo round the 1612RT Amulet out with formidable flexibility, ready to dish out true tube tones onstage, in the studio, or simply on the couch.

This review is easy.. I can't believe I own one. Experience:Over 20 years. Have played on many amps. Soldano,Vox, Fender, H&K, ToneKing, and Marshall. They hit it out of the park at Supro.

A classic in the making

The versatility many note is why this will become a reference amp. As one reviewer noted, he now has one amp that meets all his needs. It manages to sound a bit original, it's not pretending to be something else. I like a 10" speaker for home and studio. It's good for small-mid sized gigs, a little less loud than a Pro Jr., I'm guessing.

I don't think it's fair to dock the unit over maybe a tube going out as another reviewer noted. That could easily be a problem with a tube. so that's a probably a tube problem, not an amp problem.

Overall it sounds good, it'll give you that rush. It looks good, better in person, imo. Build quality seems good. Versatility is there. It's a special little amp.

I have been owned 4-5 different tube amps over the last 5 years. Each have had things I liked and disliked. The Surpo covers MOST of my dislikes with my amplifiers. This is the first amp I have owned with reverb and trem built right in and they sound incredible. Really really great lush reverbs and great sweeping tremelo. The attenuator function is magnificent and allows me to play at bedroom levels and I am also able to rehearse with my (loud) rock band. The amps clean sound is really fantastic But its fully cranked sound is where this amp shines the most. It has such a unique overdriven tone and it sounds really sweet and great, I can't believe the tone that comes out of this tiny little thing - it doesn't sound like it has a 10inch speaker, it sound enormous. My only real gripes with this amp is a lack of effects loop and the amp doesn't particularly handle octave effects too great. I use a couple of delays and reverbs and things that sound best in through an effects loop, and I also use an octaver (100% dry, 30% sub, 60% Up) and an octavia and the amp doesn't seem to handle the octave effects to well, I'll probably need to adjust some knobs on them to find the right sound balance but both of them for some reason increase the low end a WHOLE bunch, that being said my hellbender sounds really really good through this thing. But I understand that the amp is tiny (like miniature) and they can only pack so much goodness into something so small. Not the end of the world but it is a feature that I like.

I also tried the Supro Royale because it had the effects loop. But in my opinion the tiny amulet sounds much much better despite its size and having less controls than the Royale. I've owned Orange Ad30TC's, Marshall origins, Supro Delta King (which broke after 2 weeks) and this by far is one of the best amps I've owned. This will be my main studio amp and a stage amp for a long time.

The most versatile amp I've ever played through

This amp is replacing both a Fender Blues Jr. and a Supro Black Magic Reverb for me. It combines things I liked about both amps into a small package. The reverb circuit design seems to be better on this than it was on the Black Magick - it sounds more like the Fender's reverb, which is great. The trem is stunning. The EQ is more useable than it was on the Black Magick - on that amp I usually just had the treble all the way up and often still wanted more. On the blues Junior you could never get much bass out of it even with the low end cranked. This truly has all the treble and bass you could want - it's superbly balanced. The overdriven sound is exquisite; a little darker then the Fender sound. And at sub-overdrive levels, the attenuator almost acts like a variable compression and eq knob. Each wattage has its own color. that combined with the super useable EQ means hat the versatility of this thing is just phenomenal. I'm using it exclusively as a studio tool now and I don't really feel like I need any other amp.

Great Tone but burned up in 6 months

By Robert Jones from Calhoun, GA on September 13, 2023

I always wait a bit before I review a purchase. This amp had a great tone, but switched it on yesterday and it made a horrible noise and began smoking. I immediately unplugged it. I guess I will see how good the warranty is on these.
