Martin 0-X2E Cocobolo Acoustic-electric Guitar - Natural Reviews

6-string Acoustic-electric Guitar with Spruce Top, Cocobolo Back and Sides, Select Hardwood Neck, and Select Hardwood Fingerboard - Natural

Martin once again stuns acoustic guitar lovers with their 0-X2E acoustic-electric guitar! This smaller, concert-bodied guitar boasts an HPL (high pressure laminate) construction that stands it in good stead against weather changes and gifts it a pleasing tone. This 0-X2E sings with the delightful tones of its spruce top and cocobolo back and sides. Martin’s famous X-bracing strengthens the top of this guitar for enhanced tonal qualities and durability against the elements. Then, a select hardwood neck and fingerboard complete the scene with engaging playability and a pleasant feel in the fretting hand. When its time to take the 0-X2E to the stage, you can plug in with the Martin E1 electronics for superb onstage or studio tone — it even includes a built-in chromatic tuner!

Excellent little guitar

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: Perpetual learner, a little performance on the side...

This is my second Parlor guitar - my other is a PRS beauty, but this one sounds much better. It is an excellent value for the sound quality, comfortable to play, and will travel very well. The gig bag is a perfect fit for travel and will be my new go-to from now on. The Cocobolo back and sides appear to be veneer which is disappointing, but do you really expect non-composite exotics at this price point? Everyone who sees it drools over it and loves the way it sounds.

Bottom line: Excellent value with jaw-dropping aesthetics.

Perfect Construction…Perfect Sound

By Steven W. from Madera, CA
Music Background: Song writer, guitarist, recording artist, Steve’s Slide and Jazz (YouTube)

This is my first Martin. I have several other acoustic guitars but this one is perfectly constructed. The intonation is perfect, the tuners are solid and the tuning stays put. The high pressure laminate resonates as good, or better, than wood. The tones are very pure and it doesn't sound tinny and cheap even though the body is a smallish "0" model. I thought the strings were a little stiff. They are mediums. I have purchased a set of Martin extra light strings and I will install them soon.
Finally, one of the best parts of this experience was the sales tech, Lucino, he is knowledgeable, polite and fun to deal with.
The entire experience was a joy, except waiting for delivery! That was a test of patience but in the end I just love my new Martin guitar!
Thank you, Sweetwater!

Best value from the Martin family

By Scott D. from Northampton, PA

One of Martin's more underrated and unique instruments. This is a completely utilitarian guitar true to its Martin heritage. It's not ornamental or particularly nice looking but it sounds amazing and feels very comfortable to play. The HPL back and sides offer unparalleled resistance against fluctuations in humidity and the solid spruce top makes it a balanced and lively instrument. I feel like the X2E line in general is the company's highest value proposition. If you close your eyes while playing them you wouldn't be able to tell if you were playing a low or high end guitar.

For a giging musician they are the perfect combination of playability balance and full tone with the robustness to stand up to rigors of the road and price. Not to mention the electronics sound great too. All this paired with a very nice quality gig bag. this is a winning combination.

It's a beaut!

By Sweetwater Customer

Purchased this because I was looking for a "small body" to travel with. It's small, yet comfortable. Didn't want a "travel guitar" due to scale length, and with this one being 24.9 inches, it checks all the boxes. Nice crisp highs, good bass response. 1.75 nut makes it a very comfortable guitar to play. If you're looking for a small body guitar, give this a try!
