First, kudos for Sweetwater for showing the two pins in product photos. Many others don't seem to do this. I was confident I was buying the right tuners.

With only a socket (finger loosening or tightening) these went in easily. The capstans on the 3 higher strings are shorter to improve break angle over the nut and are narrower to increase tuning accuracy. The photo is of the D and G strings' tuners so you can see the differenece. I bought them because I fiddle with pickups and electronics and locking tuners makes it much easier to remove and reinstall strings on the tuners. I'm very happy with all aspects of this purchase: price, delivery, and fulfilled expectations.

I was surprised at the difference between 14:1 (the ratio on the MIM Telecaser I use) and the 18:1 ratio of these tuners. Much more accurate.

I originally bought the short post set for my 1992 MIM Strat but ended up returning them because the low E string post was too short and the string rubbed on the neck just behind the nut. I bought this staggered set and they are great! No drilling or mods needed, the 2 pins lined up perfectly, 15 minutes to swap them out. Sweetwater was great with returning the first set. Best customer service!

I have locking tuners on my Gretsch G6228...and love them. I purchased a Fender Pro2 Strat a few months ago and thought Id install some as well. These are a perfect fi. No drilling .filing or any other scary mods. Affordable, work great.

Dropped in perfectly to my American Performer Telecaster. Only took like 10 minutes. These have the 2 locating pins and are held in via the bolt on the top of the peg (no screws.) Sweetwater had the best deal on these that I could find, highly recommend!!

Purchased for a MIM 2021 Stratocaster. They fit perfectly, they work, and they look nice. Guitar stays in tune longer, it's easier to tune as the machinery is tighter and has a more solid feel, and it's soooo much easier to string. I think this can be said for any locking tuner, but the fender brand is comforting - you know it's a direct fit. The price isn't too bad either.

The locking tuning set was just the thing for me. Easy to install and fit like a glove. I am still working on my setup so i have not play my guitar jet.

Perfect replacement tuners for this Tele. The two nub holes were already there, no mods of anything necessary. Took me 4 minutes to install and tighten them (That's not counting the false start 'cos I forgot they were staggered and got them on exactly wrong.) So, pretty easy install, 10 mm socket on the nuts. With the staggering (they're not staggered really, so much as just 3 are normal height, and 3 are lower. Just two different heights.) the break angle on the high E is about the same as on the low E. Trying to figure how tight to lock the string in so there's no slippage on one hand, and no breakage on the other. It remains to be seen if I think these are an improvement over the stock tuners. I'll let you know. If I remember.

I installed these on a new Tele style neck for a new build guitar. My preference for Fender style guitars has always been the vintage style with the slotted posts. However, these are fantastic. It's easier to get the string length right, locking the string is a breeze with the wheels at the bottom of the peg, and they tune very accurately and hold tune well. The only drawback I can think of is that they have a couple of small pegs that catch inside holes on the back of the headstock to keep the whole machine from turning. You have to create the small holes on the back of the headstock. The holes probably won't align to other tuners, but if you take your time they are easy to drill. It's definitely worth a little extra work because these tuners work so well.

I got these to replace some cheaper ones that just didn't cut it. Should have known better. Haven't had a problem with these. They hold tuning nicely and operate smoothly with no lagging. Wouldn't hesitate to buy again.

This makes changing strings a million times easier and things stay in tune so much better. Very easy to install.

Solved the problem of my Fender strat going out of tune.

Tossed these on to my custom Squier build. THESE ARE ALMOST A DROP IN REPLACEMENT….almost. The little nips on these are just a very small distance further than what Squier had on there. Simple dremmel improvement to elongate the holes and boom!!! This is my very first time building/modding guitars so I'd say I didn't do terrible!

I have a fender American pro II and I had issues with strings slipping out of tune. No major tuning issues but if I wanted to use the tremolo system it would always be out of tune after. It originally came set up with the bridge floating so I decked it to provide tubing stability which it did but the whammy bar wasn't as easy to use and it still would go out of tune a little. I even put 5 springs in it for added stability. I'm pretty sure I have my strings wound correctly to lock them in place and my guitar tech checked out the guitar. I think one of the great features of a strat is the tremolo system and I was bummed that if I used it, the guitar wouldn't be in tune for long. After getting these locking tuners my issues are gone. It stays in tune like a champ and now I have the bridge slightly floating and I'm enjoying playing my strat even more now. These are easy to install and they also make changing strings an easier process. Also if you look at the American ultra strats, they all have locking tuners on them. Highly recommend!

I'm super happy with these tuners. I've bought them before for another guitar. They were easy to install, and the guitar rarely goes out of tune almost never I would most likely buy them again if I needed to. I also like that sweet water sent a little tutorial video on how to install them along with others that are so helpful. Thank you Sweetwater team and a big shout out to Travis. You're the man.

I was having issues with tuning stability on my Fender Telecaster FMT. In order to solve the issue I bought fender locking tuners. I had to drill new locating pin holes and that was a breeze. Installation took just under 2 hours. What a difference between the stock tuners and the Fender locking tuners. 100% improvement in tone and tuning stability.

Put these on my 2012 American Standard Strat that always had an issue staying in tune. The guitar is like night and day now. I should've done this a long time ago. I dig the concept/design of these. They dropped right in without the need for any modification on my guitar. I can tell by looking that they won't work on my "vintage" '79 strat. (I bought that strat used back in '83 so it's kind of funny to me it's considered vintage now.) They do call it out it won't work on vintage guitars though. I may buy another set for my 2019 tele.

I was having tuning stability issues with my Fender telecaster FMT HH. It kept going sharp/flat during a performance even after tuning it up. So I decided to install locking tuners to help correct the issue. I contacted Sweetwater to make sure that I bought the right ones. They came in 2 days, awesome!! I needed to drill new pin holes because the ones from the stock tuners were narrower than the Fender locking tuners. Piece of cake, the whole installation took about 2 hours. What a difference they made, better tone and sustain.

A true must have for the serious guitarist. If you have ever changed a set of strings on a guitar and wished for a better/faster method of stringing here is the answer to your wish.

These tuners are very solid and a big improvement over what I had previously. The gears are smooth, the lockers help hold the strings in tune. They seem to be well made and of good quality metal because the tuners have a decent weight to them. Installation was easy, they weren't extremely expensive and I'm very happy with this purchase. I would buy them again if I had another Strat or Tele.

Bought these for my mim Player Stratocaster,that is fitted with a DG20 EMG pick guard.These make battery changes a simple job. String changes are also quick and easy. These are an exact fit for my player Strat. Buy some!

I had a different brand of 'self-locking' tuners on the Roland-ready Strat, and they just didn't cut it. Dropped these in, and BAM! The staggered posst and straight-ahead knob design put my Strat back in the land of the living. Now it can be more than a backup to my MIDI'd Steinberger.

I added these to my Squier Standard Stratocaster.
The main holes didn't have to be drilled but I did have to drill two tiny holes for each tuner for the nubs that hold them in place. These look nice and helped to stabilize tuning when using the two-point tremelo.

I typically use sperzel staggered locking tuners but was wanting something that was absolutely drop in. These don't have 3 stages of height on them like the sperzels I'm used to. I found it was still necessary to use a string tree for the b and high e strings. They are really nice for the price and have great tuning stability. I can bury my trem arm to my pickguard several times and tuning doesn't drift more than a couple of cents.

These were an exact fit. Difference is these are 3 long and 3 short. What came with the guitar is 4 short and 2 long. It doesn't make a difference. They installed in a breeze. They work and hold the tune great. Makes it a lot easier to change strings. I definitely would recommend these to anyone.

I was concerned that these may not fit an American Performer Stratocaster because they come stock with vintage-style tuners but they dropped right in, no problem. This is my 2nd set (I bought another set for my MIM Telecaster). They work as good or better than other brands costing 3X as much. These tuners are a real bargain.

After purchasing a Fender Player Plus Stratocaster that had locking tuners I was gifted a 2004 Highway 1 Stratocaster that had the old style tuners. While the Highway 1 tuners were not bad, I had become spoiled and decided to upgrade. While changing strings, I replaced the tuners in less than 15 minutes! I decided on the staggered style because the 2004 guitar has 2 string trees and the staggered tuners made the trees almost redundant.

I love the way these tuners make changing strings much easier & faster. I bought 3 sets, 1 for my 1987 American Standard Stratocaster & 2 for my wife's 2022 American Pro II Stratocaster & 2022 American Pro II Telecaster. The swap out was very quick & easy, only requiring a 10MM socket. Tightened them hand tight with the socket, NO racket handle as to not over torque them & crack the finish.

These tuners are the best by a long shot. It's interesting for me to play a $4,000 guitar with "vintage" tuners and say to myself, man I wish the locking tuners were on this… then go to the $700 project guitar and have better tuners. I have them on two fender project guitars and they are noticeably smooth and solid in their gears and holding ability, the ratio is spot on and the locking mechanism is easy to use and never fails. Not that I'd expect them to fail….

These tuners really make string changes a breeze. What I particularly like about them is that you're consistently going to have the adequate and proper break angle over the nut, ensuring even wear and longevity. Anthony Giraldi and the crew at Sweetwater have always given me the highest level of customer service, treating this old "living room star" like a pro, which is why I don't look anywhere else for my guitar-related needs.

If you are a left-handed player these won't work. They sell a left-handed version, but the dexterity is not labeled on the right-handed listing, so if you don't know better, you'll be switching them. I've always had headstocks with 3+3 tuning machines or I just never replaced them, so it never occurred to me that I would have an issue. I blame myself to a degree. Other than the dexterity mixup, they appear to be A+.

I absolutely love these tuners, stay in tune and makes string changing a breeze. I buy these for all my strats.

I bought these as direct drop-in upgrades for the stock tuners on my Player Series Acoustasonic Telecaster; swapping them in was easy, and it made changing the strings simple and quicker than I'm used to. I've never quite gotten the hang of exactly how much string to use so that I don't get too many or too few winds, and these take the guesswork out of the process. Work like a charm, highly recommend them.

Even though my Strat has the staggered tuners, these locking tuners made a huge difference with the tremolo stability. Really keeps it's tune. For some reason to, the action became better and less rattle on the low E string. Super simple to install.

My third set of Fender locking tuners. Perform as expected. Easy to install and perform well. Easy upgrade and worth the money.

I've always found locking tuners to stay in tune better than standard tuners. There are more expensive brands but Fender makes a quality product at a reasonable price.

I bought these for my daughter's Mini and regardless of which side you fall on in the debate over locking tuners, I can attest to the fact that these are awesome! Her mini does in fact hold tune better but even if they don't for someone else, just the speed and ease of string changes makes it worth the money. Speaking of speed and ease, the ease of ordering from Sweetwater and the speed in which they shipped the order is simply amazing.

As very typical for Sweetwater, I ordered these tuners on Saturday July 30 and they arrived on Wednesday Aug. 3. Simply the best turn around anyone could hope for. I cannot say anything but good stuff about Sweetwater and you can tell by my review title, I ain't no bot. I'm also not a paid employee since I live several states away but I am fast becoming a Sweetwater fanman. As for the tuners? Simply awesome! Now for the kicker, I put these on a Squier Mini Strat. Even though I watched several videos on how to get them on a Squier, I was still nervous until I received the tuners. That's when I realized just how easy it would be. I know there are people out there who question the reasoning for making such an upgrade to one of these little guitars but my theory is this; regardless of the car, if it gets a better motor, it will be a better running car. Anyway, these tuners are really fantastic. The difference in their feel compared to the stock Squier tuners is amazing. The Fender tuners are some much tighter when tuning and the locking mechanisms are great. If someone is thinking about a tuning gear upgrade, I would most definitely recommend these. If you want them fast, of course I recommend Sweetwater as your go to supplier.

I originally bought 2 sets of these, one for my Tele, and one for my Strat. Unfortunately, after ordering them, I started looking at my Strat, and realized they weren't going to fit. A quick call to my rep (Andy Hoye... awesome guy), and he processed a no questions asked return for one of them. The install on the Tele was incredibly easy, and it makes stringing so much easier. I have multiple guitars, and I really don't enjoy stringing them. That's mainly because of my cat, but that's a whole other story. These make it so much faster to get the job done on the Tele. They are also very smooth with regard to tuning, and seem to hold in tune extremely well. I would highly recommend these... just make sure you double check the style of your existing tuners before ordering. ;-)

I bought a MIM Player Telecaster, and it became very evident that tuning stability was an issue with this guitar. Bought these locking tuners and it was an easy swap and upgrade. These are awesome, I love the look, and how good they work.

These should be standard equipment on the Am Pro II (IMO), but for the small investment it has been a great upgrade. The look, fit and finish is perfect and of course changing strings is a cinch, and the guitar just stays in tune better.

Concerned they would not fit my 1995 US Fat Tele. BUT, perfect fit. Did not know I had 3 long and 3 short posts on the new tuners but I have tested all aspects and love the way my Tele stays in perfect tune. Also have a 1993 Strat Plus with brushed finish locking tuners all short posts that I have loved for over 25 yrs. Bought both guitars new those many yrs. ago.

These locking tuners fit perfectly on a new 2021 MIM Player Fender Strat and they look, and work great. They are so much better looking then the stock tuners, and hold tune great. They also make changing strings a very very quick job. I think these Fender locking tuners are better then the Hipshots I've used in the past, and the price is simply fantastic.

Cost half as much as many locking tuners but seem great anyway. Really happy with them on my early 2000s Mexican strat, went on easily in 20 minutes with a string change.

These are a great drop-in replacement for Fender Teles/Strats (I've used them on both). These require the two "notch" tuner locators on the neck, they will not work on Squiers (at least the one's I've had).

I own a Fender Player Series Strat. It's a known fact that Strat lack tuning stability. The bridge in my Strat is set to the body but still didn't some to improve stability. After I upgraded to these tuners I definitely knew it worked when I put the fresh strings on and the next day it was still in tune. For a Strat that is AMAZING!!!
No holes to be made. They fit right in on MIM Fender Strats. As always, Sweetwater has the best service in the business.

I should have done it earlier. I hate changing strings and these tuners make it so much easier and faster. Installation is also very easy. I don't know yet if I gained any intonation or tuning stability with these machines as I never had issues with the regular ones, but at least it's on the same level.

They're great and hold tuning for my hard strenuous playing. My buddy told me to change a while back and I finally did. Only problem was I didn't read the measurements right and had to make a small modification.

I purchased to sets of Fender locking tuners. One short pole set for my Strat and one standard pole set for my Tele. Install took 10 minutes per guitar. I should have performed this upgrade years ago as it's a must have for a working guitar player. Locking tuners make string changes a breeze.

Bought these for a custom Tele build & they are top notch tuners. Also have them on an American Strat & makes string changes incredibly easy plus it stays in tune better. They are an even better replacement for cheap tuners that notch or have a dead spot etc. & yes they are worth the price.

I don't know why these aren't standard equipment on any Fender electric above mid-level. They make string changes 100x easier and faster, and increase tuning stability(although it was pretty good to begin with). Installing them was a piece of cake. I have a black American Professional II Telecaster that I've changed the pick guard (original is boring), and these tuners, making it perfect. Sweetwater pricing is almost half of what Fender charges, and I think I got them only three days after ordering them (free shipping). Can't ask for better service. I know it sounds stupid, but the little package of candy in each order is a nice touch, too. These are good people to do business with.

These locking tuners work as intended and make changing strings so much quicker and easier. They have the nice Fender logo on the locking buttons and the chrome matches precisely with that of the American Professional II chrome.
I installed these on both my American Professional II Strat and Tele. Installation is very easy with a standard socket set. Hand-tighten only so it's just snug. I removed and replaced one tuner at a time starting with the 1st string (high E) and kept each existing string in tact while clipping off the end of each once locked in. Each locking tuner has the same alignment pegs as the stock tuners so it requires no effort in lining these up.
Please note - There is a difference in the post height configuration with these tuners. This kit has three long and three short vs the stock two long and four short tuning posts. I confirmed with Fender this kit is the direct locking replacement for the stock tuners. I can also tell you the D-string stays in tune just fine with the longer post and still has an adequate break angle from the nut to keep the tension on with both the Strat and the Tele.

Easy to install, immediate effect! Like others I have no idea why this $ upgrade is not standard issue for all Stratocasters!

The standard Fender tuning machines held tune pretty well. I simply wanted the convenience of locking tuners. Fender's locking tuners are a super easy, drop-in replacement that anyone could install quickly and easily. I think the locking tuners may hold tune even better and string changes are a breeze. Definitely worth it for me.

These are great tuning machines and are a direct replacement for the standard tuners that came stock on my Fender Players Strat. The stock tuners were just fine but these are locking and also staggered. After installing these, string changes are faster and I was able to remove the string tree from the headstock on my guitar (one less thing to work on around). The price is right too, which always helps.

Title says it all. Literally a 10 min task to replace on my Stratocaster tuners, even put the same strings back on, it's going in for a tune up and those Elixir's only had a week or so on them. I have a floating bridge and tuning was good but it stays in tune so much better, rarely need to tune now.

Changing strings will take minutes, replacing a broken string no big deal.

I want to put these tuners on my acoustics since I change those strings at a much higher frequencies. Somehow that seems sacrilegious. Do it, do it now.

I put these on a 2019 MIM Player Strat and they dropped right in. No issues. Tuning stability is great and enjoying the ease of locking tuners. Note: look up the 1-2-3-3-4-5 ( or 5-4-3-3-2-1 ) method of routing the strings and don't crank too tightly on the locking mechanism for the high strings as you'll pinch them and they may break when you loosen/tighten the string.

5 stars. These babies are great. Dropped in easy on my mim strat. I know they're not supposed to change tone but I feel like these staggered tuners made the strings sit better in the nut. Either way my strat sounds much better now.

These are great. They work as they should and look the part on my strat. Just remember that these do have tabs that you will meet to take into account if installing on a neck without matching tab holes.

If you have a Fender Stratocaster and you are into heavy tremolo manipulation this is a most have in combination with a Wilkinson WVS 50 IIK and a Fender LSR Roller Nut. Your strat will never go out of tune not even doing Jimi Hendrix stuff on it.

My only (small) complaint would be the lack of instructions from Fender. There is literally zero instructions included. The tuners are staggered but not labeled. So it's up to you to either already know what you're doing, or figure it out on your own. This is Fender's product and has nothing to do with the excellent Sweetwater service that I received. I would still buy these again in a heartbeat.

I put these on a Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH. I had to drill holes for the indexing pins and used a small drill similar to a Dremel tool which I believe gave more control rather than using a full size drill. It wasn't that difficult. The improved tuning stability is quite noticeable. String changes are much easier as well. I recently converted all of my electric guitars to locking tuners.

I am big Fender strat owner and all my Stratocasters are loaded with this tuners, Wilkinson WVS 50 IIK and the Fender LSR Rolling nut and now I can do Jimi Hendrix and EVH tremolo tricks without worrying that I will go out of tune.

Never had locking tuners before. Honestly never got what the excitement was all about. Kind of thought that these were one of those unnecessary gimmicky mods that some people are so fond of.

Well I was wrong, these make re-stringing SO easy and even better there is ZERO slip that you get from multiple wraps with conventional tuning machines.

Also easy drop-in mod on my Player Strat, fits perfect with no modification needed.

My only regrets are not getting these sooner and not realizing these come in black too.

I am upgrading a Fender Squire Standard Telecaster and started with swapping tuners . The locking tuners make it so easy to change strings and helps keeping the guitar in tune. What a difference !!

I'm generally not a fan of locking tuners, but the stock tuners on my Fender Player Strat were so horrible I decided to give them a try. The main reason I bought these was because of the Fender logo and they are a drop in replacement for the two pin Fender stock tuners. I realize they are likely made by the same company that makes the standard tuners, but I read a lot of reviews and they were very positive. I've had them installed for about 3 weeks now and I've only had to make minor tuning adjustments. Tuning stays dead accurate when I use the tremolo. They were super easy to install, only add a little weight to the headstock and use my favored locking mechanism, the thumbscrew. The thing I really like is the improved string angle since they have staggered posts. Now they all look the same and the tension at the nut is better. I left the string tree screwed on so I don't have to deal with the hole. It still looks stock, though the strings float above it. The biggest problem I have is lining up the strings with the holes during string changes. I've only done it once, so I'm sure it will improve over time as I get used to it. Fender should be ashamed of the quality of their stock tuners. It's good to know that good quality replacements are available at a decent price. I decided to buy them from Sweetwater because their service is top notch (arrived within 3 days) and I didn't want to risk being scammed with fakes (it happens). Do yourself and your Fender a favor, get these tuners.

This is literally the better mousetrap. It makes swapping strings sooo easy. The smooth gears make tuning very precise. I'll never use another type of tuners for any guitar I build or play. Daunte, pull a set of these off the shelf too!

Very well-made, they fit right into my Strat without any problem. I especially liked having three longer stems instead of only two on the old ones. This provided a little more winding room for the D string.

Be sure to back off the thumb screws when trying to thread the strings thru the stem holes. I'm embarrassed to admit I didn't do this and struggled for awhile until I realized there is a pin inside the stem that the thumb screw squeezes against the string to lock them in place. This pin has to be below the string hole for the string to pass through.

Got a professional Stratocaster. Great guitar but has standard tuners so I thought I would try these. The sales staff were great, got timely info regarding shipping etc. The tuners fit my guitar perfectly and it was an easy install. Plus, since it was my first order I got a small bag of candy with it! Cute touch. All in all a very positive experience, will definitely consider this site for my future needs.

I bought these for a Strat build and installed them in an official Fender neck. It was a very easy install and they work well. The only potential issue I see for some is that these tuners have two small pegs that insert into two small holes that are found on official Fender necks. Not all aftermarket necks will have the holes the pegs. Check the attached photo courtesy of Sweetwater's site to see what I mean. Great for my Fender neck. Super easy install.

Had to alter headstock to fit to Squier Strat. It makes a world of differance, stays in tune forever now. The altered holes don't show. Great add on.

Not only do these look amazing but their high quality and help keep your strat stay in tune better. Since I put them on I've not had my guitar fall out of tune, and I play it every day. I'm glad I finally upgraded my strat w/these.

I just bought two sets of these and installed them in my MIM Tele and MIM Players Strat. Takes about 10-15 to do. The upgrade makes a big difference visually and the the quality is clearly improved over the stock tuners. I really like how much easier it makes string changes as well. If you have a MIM Tele or Strat, I highly recommend these for your axe. It is an affordable upgrade that improves the tuning stability and look of your instrument. They drop right in, no drilling needed.

If you want to upgrade your guitar this is one way, break a string no problem you can replace it in seconds and I've been finding that My baby has been staying in tune nearly every time I pick it up,easy to install what else can I say,if you've never tried them go for it, you wont be dissatisfied, l promise

On advice from Drew Foster at Sweetwater I ordered these for a Squire Affinity SSS to replace the stock ones. I thought they were drop in's but needed to drill new holes. Easy as pie with the correct drill and bits. My 1st time doing anything like this but I have done detail woodwork before. I am simply amazed with these tuners! Great fix for a $220 guitar to get it to at least hold tune! Next project, new pickups. Then it should really rock!

Think I have four sets of these now. Never found a tuning problem, or any other issue for that matter. They just work. Like the "F" logo, too.

I have a roadhouse stratocaster that came equipped with these and I love them. So when I picked up a fender squire cyclone for $300 dollars it was a no brainer to upgrade. The only problem was the little pegs on the tuners didn't match, I guess Fender and Squire parts are different. Had to fill the holes and re-drill new ones but it was worth it, fixed my tuning problems immediately. Highly recommend.

One-to-one match with my 2005 MIM Strat. Zero extra holes required.

They fall right into the Strat original setup, they look a million bucks, and they actually have better action than the Grover ones, which require mods to place. AND they are cheaper than many replacements from other brands.
Now: THEY ARE HEAVY!!! That may be the only pitfall.

Put these on my Squier Affinity, they're leagues ahead of the stock tuners, look great, hold tune well. The hardest part of installation for me was drilling new guide holes in the guitar neck. Big thank you to Alan from Sweetwater for good service on the order.

These are an essential add to any MIM strat! Affordable upgrade to help keep things in tune. Very pleased with these.

I used this set on a Tele American Professional and installed them at the same time as a string change - added maybe five minutes to the process.

The only issue I had is that this staggered set comes supplied with three long posts, three short posts - which is fine, but the staggered set that was on the guitar as supplied from the factory is two long (E and A strings), four short (D, G, B and E strings).

Not that big of a deal, as I ended up finding a short post locker on eBay so I have the two long, four short just like the factory build.

Fender probably ought to make this set two long and four short - the short post on the D string increases the break angle just enough to make a difference.

These were a perfect fit for my Mexican Strat....completely effortless to install. Couldn't be happier with them.

Put these on my squire tele and I didn't realize the headstock didn't have the peg holes predrilled. No worries though, I am good with a drill and a straight edge.They turned out really awesome. Thanks Sweetwater.

Whats not to like about these locking tuners? Direct replacement on my Tele, just drop them in. I never liked any tuners that you have to push the string through the hole on the shaft. Too cumbersome. If your not worried about a "vintage" look, these fit the bill. Makes changing strings a breeze. On the guitars that I gig with regularly, locking tuners are the way to go. $... from Sweetwater? Don't think twice.

This set gave my Squier Bullet Telecaster a much more stable tuning experience. They also make string changes a breeze. Be aware you may have to drill new holes in your neck for Asian made instruments. Thanks also to Sweetwater and my sales engineer, Zack for a great experience!

I bought these for my fender player strat because they came stock on my Nashville deluxe telecaster and I really like those. These are a well worthwhile upgrade for almost any fender. I don't think they fit vintage models, but are a super easy replacement for all other American and Mexican models. This is one upgrade you can easily do your self and will give you both excellent tuning stability and super easy string changes. I would put these on any fender that doesn't already have them.

I use locking tuners on all my guitars.
I did have a problem with one. The insert broke inside the tuner. It was a defect from the factory. It was aggrivating, However!!! Sweetwater made good on it and made sure I was back playing the Fender in record time.
Sweetwater really stood up and took care of the problem with customer service and support that rarely takes place these days.

I found these tuners to be exceptionally well made and add significant value to my both my Strat and Tele. This in addition to the ability to quickly string my guitars. Tuning stays rock solid. I am extremely pleased with these tuners and as usual found them at my "Go To" music supplier Sweetwater.

Not only do they fit my american strat and my mim tele perfectly with zero modifications, but they look and work great! String change time cut in half with noticable increase in tuning stability when using the trem. Totally worth it (and half the price of grover, schaller, etc.)

Don't know why I waited so long to put these on my Fender guitars. Was a direct retrofit on my American and Mexican models with no modification (e.g. drilling or reaming of holes). I've been thinking about it for years and finally decided to give it a go. Replaced on one guitar to try and as soon as I did I ordered a couple more sets to change out my other guitars. While not overly difficult to change strings on a guitar with standard tuners this makes it so much easier and quicker. Definitely worth it.

Within a few hours of ordering I was emailed by sweetwater with my tracking. If you are sure you want these tuners but not sure about the logistics of ordering from sweetwater then dont even worry. You will get your product quickly and safely.

My new Tele came with good ones, but you just can't beat locking tuners for stability and convenience. Easy to install and excellent quality.

I put these locking tuners on my 2019 Fender Players Edition Stratocaster and the installation could not have been easier. Remove the tuners that came with the guitar and these locking tuners install perfectly matching the post holes and small guide holes used by the original tuners. One caution is the locking tuners do not come with instructions. Note the 3 long tuners are for the 3 lowest strings and the short tuners are for the other 3 strings. These are a great upgrade to my guitar and make changing strings quicker and easier.

These stay in tune great and were a perfect replacement for the factory issued tuners on my American Jazzmaster. Changing them out took all of 10 minutes and they look and feel great.

I actually bought these for a J Mascis Squier Jazzmaster, but I ended up returning it because I didn't like the neck. So now I just have an extra set of tuners. I put them on all of my Fenders, so they will get used eventually..

These locking tuners were part of tune up on my guitar. the finish and fitment were spot on and the function extremely well, nice and smooth and improved the ability to stay in tune

I bought these for my Squire-II, replacing a set of Grovers. A guitar tech friend had a jig to precisely drill the indent holes for the indexing teeth, since these tuners don't use a set screw like other styles.

The gear mechanism works smoothly and with precision, and they look great on my cheap 30 year old guitar..

I always use Grovers on my guitars - Mostly Gibsons - and have always been happy with them. I picked up a used MiM Strat and started looking at locking tuner options, and these grabbed my attention for price and the drop-in installation.And I do mean drop-in! I swapped out the tuners during a string change and it actually took less time to put these on AND change the strings than a normal string change. Now I can actually use the Tremelo without knocking the guitar out of tune.

I installed these tuners on a old Squier, what a difference. They are very smooth, and no running past and backing down anymore. Big improvement in tuning stability. Easy to install. Had to enlarge headstock holes just a bit. I’m a happy customer!

I was a little skeptical at 1st I expected these to be better than the stock Player series tuners on my 2019 Strat, but to my surprise the Fender locking tuners hold tune even better than expected I rarely have to tune.

With all the bad info on squier tuner machines, I just did it. The holes are same size 10.3mm the problem new pin holes need to be drilled. I used dremel, be more than careful as they will run together anyways. This mod takes 40 min not the ten if the holes had matched. If you have a new, indonesian, standard strat, the end product is great.

I was having issues with the low E and G string going out of tune while using the tremolo. I decided to try these on my American Standard Strat because it's a quick switch out and also because they look great. It made the difference. I play daily with a lot of string bending and tremolo work and my guitar stays in tune now like a champ. I also like the ease of changing strings. Use these tuners along side your favorite nut/saddle lubricant and you'll stay in tune for days.

These work great. Tune your telecaster or Stratocaster and it will stay tuned. I changed these out in 20 minutes.

As always, the quality of Fender locking tuners is second to none. I use these ecclusivly on all my custom Strat and Tele builds...

The locking tuners work great. The issue is installation on a neck that doesn’t have the pin holes to match the tuner pins on the tuners. The Fender set doesn’t even include a template for mounting these. You have to go to Stewmac or other sources to purchase a template that costs as much as the tuners do. So my recommendation is before buying replacement tuners you better research the installation procedure or it may cost you $$.

Very nice looking and they keep my Squire 70's Vibe Strat in tune.

The product itself is fine -- they're of the expected quality and ease of installation (mine are now on an American Professional Strat).

The service from Tyler was awesome, though. I had a gift card , which didn't have enough on it to pay the full purchase price, and didn't see a way to split payments on the site, so I sent a message to Tyler. He called within 15 minutes and handled the split transaction over the phone. Product arrived earlier than expected, too.

Got this locking tuners for my MIM FSR Fender Standard Tele, along with a new nut and string tree. I don't have much to complain about tuning stability on my Fender guitars, especially when comparing to my Gibson, but now I can say my tele holds tune like any other guitar i own. The tuners look amazing and they also make changing the strings a breeze. I strongly recommend the Fender locking tuners.

These really help tuning stability and overall makes string changes a breeze. I've personally found that since the tuning heads are staggered, I don't have to run my b and high e strings through the string tree, and now those two string never go out of tune. Love these so much I have them on both my Fenders.

Works great on MIM Strat

After I got my MIM Strat,I knew there were some upgrades that were not discretionary. A tusq nut and a set of locking tuners were a must. Saw these Fender Locking Tuning Machines in chrome and also staggered! They went on that Strat perfectly with no modifications necessary. Hole right-sized for post and "pins" on tuner body matched set taken off! Couldn't have been easier.

Locking tuners have come a long way since the days of yar, and I have to say that these Fender locking tuners are pretty darn good. They installed perfectly and are great to tune with.

Awesome... upgrade for my Squire Bullet Strat HT. It"s easy. Just drill out/enlarge the head stock hole to 10.5 mm. Then press the tuners in the holes to make alignment indentions in the wood. Use an 1/8 inch bit to drill small holes where the alignment indentions are. Makes string changeout sooo much easier. Awesome tuning stability now. I went ahead and changed the nut while I was at it.

Changed out standard tuners on a stratocaster professional in only a few minutes. Very quick swap. It was actually faster then changing the strings. They work excellent and I'm a very happy customer.

These beauties replaced non-locking, graduated tuners on a special run American Standard Stratocaster HH that is so gorgeous, I wish I could share a picture. Installation was so easy, I could have done it while huffing ether and slamming back margaritas during an acid trip. Not that I'd recommend drugs, alcohol or insanity to anyone (though they've always worked for me). I would - HOWEVER - STRONGLY RECOMMEND these tuners! A quality product for your Fender that drops in effortlessly at a price that is way more than fair. If you change strings a lot, these babies will add at least six months to your lifespan (so have and extra half a cigarette). Then find some poor unfortunate with a guitar made in a third-world dictatorship (like Canada) and donate your old tuners to him/her/whatever they identify as. Noblesse Oblige! Let the divine blessing that is this set of tuners tinkle down to the great unwashed!

I recently purchased a Performer HSS Strat and found the guitar would go out of tune often as I use the vibrato bar a lot. I thought it might the the strings, so I changed them. Still had the problem. So I changed string brand. Still the same problem. Another guitarist told me to consider getting locking tuners. Sweetwater offered them and at an affordable price, SO, order made.

The tuners fit perfectly, no extra or new holes when I removed the original tuners. Total time to remove and install the new tuners was less than 10 minutes, then re-string. Problem resolved.

Replaced the 11 year old machine heads on my Squier Strat SE and couldn't be happier. Easy string changes and better tuning stability. If you're upgrading a Squier be prepared to drill into the headstock as these don't drop in.

I recently purchased a Fender American Professional Telecaster form Sweetwater, best guitar ever by the way. It already had excellent tuning stability, but I wanted a set of locking tuners to make string changes faster and easier. I received them in just a few days and the installation took all of ten minutes from start to finish. No more worrying about getting the wraps right on the post, just put the string through the hole, pull it tight, screw down the locking device, and tune up, that"s it. I have these on all my Strats. They do exactly what they are supposed to do, make string changing a breeze and help stabilize tuning.

I haven"t put them on my strat yet. However, they are very cool. Chrome with the big Fender F on them. Looking forward to installing them. I have looked up reviews on all kinds of sites. They even received better reviews on them. I know these are not the old Schallers, but they will work just fine. These are nice because they will drop right in. I ordered locking tuners with my strat. Because well, I want to be able to change my strings quickly. It literally took me 10 minutes to swap out the tuners. Should be a no brainer upgrade for any fender guitar! All you need is a socket and ratchet. I even reused the factory strings. Highly recommended!

I purchased these for my 2008 Fender Standard Strat that I have had since I was 15. It was brand new when I got it and it has seen many live shows and recording sessions. Well 10 years takes its toll on a guitar. I wanted locking tuners because I was having trouble with the stock D string tuner sticking. So I called up my sales engineer Ryan Murray and he suggested these for my strat as a direct replacement. They dropped in without any modifications to my guitar. I have put them thru their paces and they are great! Solid, feel great, and tune up smoothly. They are just as smooth as my Grover"s on my les Paul"s. They hold tune great! No more whacky Egyptian tunings after using the tremolo. They are a must for your strat!

These locking tuners were a perfect fit on a 2009 MIM Telecaster. Locking tuners make changing strings effortless. It took me about 30 minutes to install these tuners and then about 5 minutes to put on a set of strings. I wish I had bought these years ago.

Went to guitar center to get some locking tuners for a custom strat and they were $73!!!
Then I went onto Sweetwater and ordered these ASAP

Great simple tuners. I bought these for a mim Player Series Strat both for the quick string changes and for the 18:1 gear ratio. They drop right in, it only takes a couple of minutes and it's a massive improvement over an already great guitar, especially if you like the floating trem. No need to spend over twice as much for other tuners. I've used Hipshot products in the past but I haven't been satisfied with them. Definitely would recommend these for any Fender guitar.

After reading about the benefits of locking tuners, my research indicated that the Fender Locking Stratocaster/Telecaster Tuning Machines should be a drop-in replacement for the originals on my Strat. I have a 1995 American Standard Stratocaster.

Installation really was a breeze. After removing the Strat's strings and loosening the bushings on the original turners (they were loose enough to really not even need a socket wrench to remove them,) one at a time I carefully wiggled the original tuners out and replaced them with the locking tuners. The locking tuner set has three short tuning pegs and three tall tuning pegs. The tall tuning pegs are for strings 1 (low E) to 3 (D.)

To install the first two locking tuners I had to first loosen the screw of the left string tree and rotate the string tree clockwise to get enough clearance to use a 10 mm socket to tighten the bushings.

The bushings need only be tightened enough to be "snug." The tuners are located securely on the bottom with two very precisely drilled holes and fit very well.

I wasn't sure whether or not the original string trees would need to be removed. After putting new strings on the Strat, I decided that the strings were fine leaving the string trees in place.

I am pleased with the ease of the upgrade and am looking forward to much faster string changes from now on. Highly recommended.

They are everything I expected, the 18 to 1 ratio means no more over tightening then loosening when tuning, the locking mechanism makes string changes much quicker, I wish I had bought these years ago

These were a 15 minute drop in install on my 2009 MIM Strat. The stock tuners weren't bad but I really enjoy having locking tuners on another guitar, and thought the Strat would benefit from the upgrade too. So far they are working perfectly, the first string change was quick and easy as could be. They work smoothly and stay in tune.

The Mexican Strat tuners are just fine. I don't think these tuners are any better. This isn't an upgrade for your guitar, this is an upgrade for you. Does it have enhanced tuning stability? Debatable. Not having a length of string that does nothing other than gripping the tuning peg could increase stability, but I'm not sold on that.

Why you want to buy these tuners is because your strings are dirty and old, but you don't want to go through the hassle of a restring. With these tuners a restring is a ten minute job, tops. Pull the string tightly through the hole, tighten the lock, and you're done. A restring is not a big thing, but if you've never had locking tuners, you don't understand how much easier it is with them. Once you have a guitar with locking tuners, you will never settle for a guitar that doesn't have them.

If you have a Mexican Fender, do not pay somebody to put these on. You can do it yourself in an evening and still have time left over to practice. There are no screws involved. You literally cannot damage your guitar unless you tighten down the retaining bolt too hard (hand tight and a quarter turn is enough).

There are two post lengths, three long ones for the E A and D string, and three shorter ones for the G B and E string. There's some bad info out there about the roman numerals you will find on the tuners. They're not for you, they're for the factory to identify defects with dies. The numerals do not correspond with which string the tuner goes to.

... If you like your guitar, you should buy these.

This was the simplest project as of yet, easy insulation. The tuners work with ease and do a great job. Product quality is great. Mostly installed for ease of changing strings which is a snap now.

Fender has never failed to surprise me with their top notch quality. These are just a great product. If you have any fender guitars, Id strongly recommend you slap these on them.

This was my first order from Sweetwater. Their service was excellent. The USPS had a problem with shipping and even though it was not Sweetwater's fault they took care of it immediately. The tuners are great too, 18:1 ratio, hold tune very well and make changing strings so easy now. Even though Fender is making their locking tuners in China now the quality still seems to be very good (as of January 2019). They fit my 2018 MIM Player strat perfectly.

Dropped right into a 2015 MIM standard strat. Changing strings is super easy now. Stays in tune. No special tools required.

The convenience of locking tuners on my Ibanez got me to replace the stock tuners on my new Fender Player Strat. The swap is easy: the three short post tuners are for the E,B,G strings, the long post for D,A,E. The nut is a 10mm. Pull the string taut, lock it down, and tune it to pitch.

I bought a set of these to put on my American Special Telecaster, and they made a great guitar even better! Swapping them out with the originals was really easy thanks to the 2-pin design Fender uses. You'd never know these weren't on the guitar to begin with, and now string changes will be a breeze! Thanks once again to my sales engineer Tim Holsinger and everyone at Sweetwater for another excellent deal and purchase!

Received my Fender Locking Tuning machines for my American Special Telecaster the other day. Sweetwater had them on sale...! All I can say is that it made a great guitar even better! They were extremely easy to swap out...as a matter of fact, it only took me about 20 minutes, which included changing the strings! Played it for about a half hour and everything stayed in tune...now restringing will be a breeze. Thanks to Tim and all at Sweetwater for another great purchasing experience!

These tuning machines are really high quality and a great value. They were a perfect fit for my Player's Series Strat and I was able to install them myself in just a few minutes. They make it so much easier to restring and tune my guitar. I would highly recommend that anyone who has a Fender guitar put these on their instrument. Bought a set for myself and for my brother as a gift. With a gear ratio of 18:1 it tunes like a dream and stays in tune. I say it'd be hard to find better locking tuners for your Strat especially if you often use your Trem arm.

This is my first experience with locking tuners. The Fender tuners were a quick and easy install on my American Standard Telecaster. Note that the tuners are staggered with the taller ones at the Low E side. The only tool you'll need is a 10mm wrench or socket, available in any Home Depot.
Makes re stringing a breeze because there's no more wrapping the string around the post. Only had 'em on a few days but, so far so good!

As expected, these locking tuners work flawlessly. They look great too. Between these tuners and the Graphtech bridge saddles my tuning stability issues have been resolved.

I own a fender mexican strat and ran into tuning stability issues with any sort of whammy bar usage. *I also own a jackson with locking nuts that i can't throw out of tune if i tried for reference.* I traded out the original mexican tuners for the locking tuners and have never felt better about this guitar. Not only is the tuning incredibly more stable with whammy and normal playing, but just the time and energy saved during string changes, make every penny of these tuners worth it, and honestly maybe locking tuners will be put on the jackson solely for efficiency sake.

These were purchased to replace the standard tuners on my MIM Player Strat. The locking tuners dropped right in place of the old ones with no modifications, and I was playing again after about ten minutes. The tuners rotate smoothly and evenly, and the locking feature holds the strings firmly.

The main reason for writing a review (what can one REALLY say about tuning machines?) was to shout out about the customer service from Sweetwater in general and Keaton specifically. Keaton stayed in contact from the time the order was placed all the way until a couple weeks ago, just to see how the tuning machines were working out for me. I spent about 60 bucks on this purchase, yet they follow up with me as if I had dropped 100 grand on gear. Treating customers like that is how you get happy repeat customers. More retail places need to follow the example of Sweetwater.

And candy was in the package. Which is nice.

I got them out of the package to install them. When I turned one over the little plastic F fell out of one of the tuners. I guess that is why I keep various types of glue around. I keep looking to see if others will drop out. As long as they work I am happy.

I bought these for my 2019 Squier Bullet Tele. I couldn't find a definitive answer as to whether they would be a drop-in fit or not… turns out they weren't. But they were close. The holes on my bullet were 10mm, as was the case for these tuners. The only issue was the little posts that hold them in place were placed differently, so I had to drill new little holes for the placement posts, about an 1/8th" (or less) out from the original holes. It was a little tricky, and one the tuners ended up SLIGHTLY crooked, but not too bad. The tuners covered up the original holes, so you couldn't tell I modified it.

All-in-all, a great upgrade. The tuners work great, look great, and feel great. If I were to nitpick about anything, I wish the staggering was even from shortest to longest E-to-E. Instead you get three shorter shafts and three longer ones. But again, not a big deal.

I like the convenience of putting on new strings the locking tuners afford me. Align the post hole parallel with string direction, insert string, pull through to take up slack, set the thumb screw and your ready to tune up. Fantastic! The reason I gave it 41/2 stars? I replaced a Tele and a Strat with the locking tuners, and twice on the Tele and once on the Strat the G string broke at the G post. I followed mounting instructions and video presentations to insure proper installation and was surprised the strings broke when I started to bend the string. Mmmmmm!

Great tuners. They are drop in for headstocks that have two small location holes. The short pegs on tuners use these holes for perfect alignment. Sweetwater price competitive with best price out there.

This is the second time I used them very satisfied with them

On my first Strat project I used Sperzel locking tuners and they were great! For my next build I chose the Fender locking tuners to stay with an all fender theme. They look great and perform just as well as the Sperzels. I would recommend these tuners to anyone installing upgrade parts for a stock Strat or Squier!
Just a heads up, i had to fill the old pin holes and redrill new ones. It's an extra step, but well worth the effort.

The only problem I had with these tuners is the line up pins on the back were not the same as the stock tuners. Come to find out, these tuners are for Fender strats only and will not just bolt on to a Squire, which is what I was trying to do. That being said, with a little drilling, they work just fine. I dont see where they make re-stringing any easier, but they don't let the string slip once tightened and thats the main thing. I assumed Fender stuff is the same as Squire stuff. This IS true on some applications, but not all. Its an adventure!!

These are great quality tuners for the price, and exact fit to replace non locking tuners on MIM Player series Strat. Same quality as standard tuners, but locking.

Way better than standardized tuning heads

I have these on my Tele and my Strat now. They work well and lock stock. It makes changing strings so easy and the guitar stays in tune better. I would recommend these to anyone. My Sweetwater rep Andy made it easy.

I"m not giving these tuning machines 5 stars, they do exactly what they"re supposed to do and look good doing it. They don"t blow my mind, expect them to work. This is the 3rd set I"ve bought. If they were free? 5 stars all day long.

These seem to not be worthy of the Fender name, seeing as how they are actually good.

I HAVE BOUGHT THESE SEVERAL TIMES. I WOULD PREFER NOT HAVING TO DRILL THE LITTLE HOLES FOR THE TUNERS TABS, BUT IT'S NICE NOT SEEING THE SCREWS. CLEAN FINISH AND THEY WORK WELL AT A GOOD PRICE POINT.

I hate changing strings so I bought these to make it easier. I'm happy with them now that they're installed but there are a few things I had to through trial and error. You don't get a manual and while I looked at a couple of YouTube videos (including the one on Fender's website) they didn't mention these. First, half the pegs are tall and half are stubby. I learned this only after I had them on the guitar. Looking through videos, I found that of course, I had put them on wrong (short ones are E, B and G, tall ones for E, A and D). Second, once the new pegs are installed, make sure the openings for the string are completely open. I spent a couple of frustrating minutes trying to push strings through half-opened holes. It would have been nice for Fender to include a page explaining this or at least for their video to explain it.

Added these tuners to my Tele. Makes changing strings a breeze. Good thing. I've changed the E string twice because it keeps breaking at the tuner. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I don't think the string should break so easily.

I bought these for a fender player Stratocaster, the install was quick and easy took about 20 minutes. They make changing the strings quick and painless. The only knock I have on them is they are a little more prone to breakage because of the pinching of the string but it might just be me as I have never used locking tuners before.

I was hesitant at first about buying these tuners as I wasn't sure whether they would fit my Performer Telecaster without having to drill new holes in the headstock. That would decrease the value of my guitar. But happily, these Fender tuners dropped right into the existing holes.
The locking machines help with keeping my guitar in tune but mainly they make sting changing very easy! Highly recommended.

My tuning machines arrived on time, packaged well, and upon first inspection, they looked quite nice. I soon realized, however, that the knobs of the tuners were scratched and pitted rather badly (the original tuners on my 20-year old Ibanez GAX 70 are in better condition). I assume my defective tuners were just an anomaly, because no one else seemed to have any issues. I contacted customer support, and although they have not gotten back yet, the support I have recieved while attempting to return other products has been excellent. Also, I did not revieve my candy! :( (In all seriousness, I dont really care, but the lack of a packing slip or other papers has led me to belive that someone just forgot. No harm done!)

I like these tuners a lot and they"re a significant upgrade from the stock sealed Fender tuners. The ones I got were a little sticky in the gears, not as smooth as the locking Hipshot tuners I have on another guitar. Maybe I got a sticky batch?

Either way, they"re still solid, and they"re a no drill upgrade on my 2002 MIM Stratocaster. I like that they"re staggered. That"s a nice touch. They make string changes a breeze!

they feel good and smooth.the only thing I wish was different is to have 3 levels of stagger instead of only 2. but they are also the least expensive name brand locking tuners I could find. it is more aesthetic than functionally lacking.

I arrive home from work and spot the empty box on my kitchen table. Instinctively, I began looking for grandpa. I found him at lake-side fishing for catfish. He was all over himself thanking me for the new tackle I got for his birthday. Then he proceeded to show me how the fishing-line's wire leader attaches to the shinny, new anchor. While explaining how he lost two of them on an underwater stump, his dog grabbed one and swallowed it.

Grandpa's urn is mounted over a lonely fireplace. Rover is wearing a dirt kimono. And I got a white sport coat with extra long sleeves, three meals a day and lots of attention.

Seriously, these "Stratocaster/Telecaster tuning machines work just fine. BUT, they are not a simple swap-out. My Tele, MIM, had to be drilled out for the tuners to fit. The head also had to be drilled to accommodate two small anchor posts on each tuner. I could have purchased a drill motor and bits, but it cost just a little more to have the work done by a luthier. Good service and delivery.

I rate these tuners 4 stars, not great, but certainly very good and serviceable. I bought these to replace the over-priced and functionally inferior top of the line graphtech ratio tuners which did not hold tune with extensive tremolo use and caused frequent string breaks.
The reason I am not giving 5 stars is because I had to drill a couple holes for each tuner for a Fender JazzMaster and if Fender was't so cheap and lazy, resting on their laurels, they would have either redesigned the tuners so they fit in all their guitars or provided a metal plate that screws into the back of the headstock to secure the tuners.
Bottom line is that I wish I had bought these tuners in the first place and would buy them again

Good tuners. One thing you should know. I bought two sets of these. One for my 'made in Mexico Tele, the other for my Squier thinline Tele made in Indonesia. The MIM Tele were 'drop in' ready. The Squier Tele only has one 'stud' hole for it's tuners and I had to drill two small homes in the back of the neck for each tuner. I just dabbed the ends of the studs in some paint and placed them onto the correct spot to get my drill spots and it took about 5 minutes more than the drop Mexico Tele, but you should be aware. Besides that, they are simple and very effective tuners, and a worthy addition for convenience and better tuning stability.

I really bought the locking tuners for ease of changing strings, my PRS has locking tuners & changing strings is so easy I thought it a good idea to have them on my Strat also.
I installed them last evening & it was a simple process, took me no more that 10 minutes tops.
And of course re stringing was a breeze. I'm very happy that I purchased the locking tuners for this reason.

Easy upgrade, took twenty minutes including new strings. Direct swap, and look great.

I used these tuners to replace the original tuners on my telecaster, had to modify the replacement, doing a lot of drilling to make them fit, overall, very satisfied.

The tuners came , 3 of 6 were one kind of post and the other 3 were another.My Strat Ultra has 6 uniform posts.My tele Elite has 6 uniform.
But,these came different.Was expecting uniformity....that said I'll be watchful on my tele build.Sweetwater ROCK'S regardless!

I put this into a MIM Strat and they were direct drop in replacements. I would give 5 stars but the Tuner for the G String is missing the locking pin. I have bothered with taking it apart to see if it's just too short of one or what the deal is but it doesn't lock.

For the other 5 that work as intended they are great. Would have been perfect if all 6 worked as intended. It looks good on the guitar and nice having that Fender F on the knobs but I probably should have bought Grover's.

Pity that 3rd string tuner is not staggered which makes it worse than non-locking tuners.
But the price is not bad and it is very smooth.

I ordered 2 sets one for my strat and another for my telecaster they worked great on the strat but will not work on my telecaster I need to get a refund in my account can you send by e mail a return slip so I can send this set back I don't have a printer but I can send it to my daughter she has a prenter I just cant use this other set it wont work on my telecaster sorry

I do not understand why they make two post heights. I bought two sets and installed the short ones and sold the 6 tall ones clearly describing what I was selling. All the strings benefit from the increase in string angle.

Just a heads up - these have 3 long posts and three short posts - for some reason Fender American Telecaster professional II used two long posts and four short posts — will need to find another single short post online somewhere to get the exact fit for this version guitar

Fender locking tuners get 5 stars for quality and function, but just 1 star for the specific parts in the package. I purchased a brand new Fender American Telecaster, which has four (4) short post tuners and two (2) long post tuners. However, Fender only sells locking tuners in a set of three long and three short post tuners! Upon calling Fender, I was told that a single short post tuner was unavailable. THANK YOU FENDER! So, just like hot dog buns that come in packages of eight buns, there are not enough buns for the hot dog weiners which usually come in packages of ten! So, in order to get the Fender locking tuners installed with the "correct" post sizes, I ended up having to purchase a two sets of locking tuners -- twice the cost! And, now if I want to spend the time and effort to recoup part of my cost, I will have to try and resale the individual tuners, assuming there are any buyers who are looking for single tuners. Sorry product availability and marketing from Fender!

They work great, but the dimensions for Squiers and Fenders do not match up very well. I had to drill a bunch of holes to allow the posts to seat. If you're not good with tools, this could be a real bummer.

So to be fair I rated this a 3 when it could easily be a 5. Or a 10. Or a1. I'll never know. The description said it wouldn't fit American Vintage instruments but I don't own one. I own a Mexican standard tele which the description said it would fit. But I didn't take into account my tele had vintage tuners, not the standard ones. My fault, not theirs. But I do wish they would have said it wouldn't replace vintage tuners at all, not just American vintage instruments. Sweetwater refunded me simply enough and with no questions asked which is just another reason to buy from them. Next time I'll check my tuners, not just the body.

A budget minded way to upgrade a less valuable instrument (like a Squier) to locking tuners

I'm sure these are well made but COME ON Fender. Why cant you have ALL your headstocks use the same 2 pin spacing! Wasting my time to fill and re drill. I am through buying fender parts
