Martin 00-28 Acoustic Guitar - Natural Reviews

I've been playing 3 dreadnoughts: a Martin, a Taylor and a vintage Guild for a long time. I'm an older woman who needed a smaller guitar with great tone. After much research I bought a Martin 00-28. This guitar sings like a bell, with amazing resonance and sustain, it's comfortable to hold and to play, and it has great volume for a group jam. It has everything I was looking for plus a smaller body. I'm so pleased with this instrument, she's my new favorite baby. Michael Duncan was a great help as always and the Plek service was worth it. Rings true! Clear and bright but still so wholesome and not at all thin. Plays so easily.

Bought this for my father who has shoulder and back issues and was having a terribly difficult time arching over and stretching out on his dreadnaught. This guitar is so much easier for him to play.

But this guitar isn't only for folks with back problems! I play it constantly when I come to visit him. It sort of "sings" in a way that no other guitar I have ever played has. It's beautiful. 10/10 would recommend.

This guitar was a big leap for me. I was finally ready to purchase a standard series Martin. Not only is it musically wonderful, it is also flawlessly crafted. I am very impressed with the build quality. It is also set up perfectly, and the plek adjustment from the factory is evident. The intonation is spot on. As always, Sweetwater made sure it was perfect, and arrived to my door safely.

Can't say enough about the great service I get from Shawn Fitzgerald and the entire Sweetwater team. Everyone who plays knows a Martin is a great guitar and this one is as well, but, I normally never buy an acoustic guitar on line, I want to feel it, hear it. No worries when buying from Sweetwater, you get what you expect and more.

This is a lifer guitar for sure, nothing about it needs improved, between Sweetwater's 55 point inspection and Martins unequaled quality I couldn't ask for a better instrument!

What can I say that hasn't already been said. This guitar feels like an old pair of shoes. It seems tailored to fit in your lap just right. The tone is pure Martin heaven, a surprising amount of bass and volume with effortless playability. It doesn't sound like a small guitar. it very balanced. I believe these new "reimagined" standard series guitars are some of the best Martin has ever made. In the future, they will be highly prized. For those looking for an ideal couch guitar, you can play this 00-28 for hours at a time, day after day, and never get tired of it.

This is a great playing guitar. The smaller 00 size body and the 24.9" scale make it very comfortable. And the set up was perfect, making it an easy player right out of the case. I mostly flat pick, however, this Martin excels at finger style. The only negative thing that I can say is that the low end is a tad thin. But that is to be expected with an 00 sized body. Overall I am very happy with it.

This is my third Martin, so I feel I'm beginning to typecast myself, but I'm so happy I went back to the well for this one! I was looking for a smaller sized rosewood/spruce acoustic and the 00 fits the bill quite nicely. I'm mainly a finger style player with fat fingers, so the short scale with a wider neck is nice and comfortable for me. The tone is wonderfully balanced across the scale - I do a lot of recording, and I can definitely see that this will be a go to instrument for sparse pieces where I'm not going to want to have to put in a bunch of EQ to make things sit in the mix.

Not quite as important as the tone, but I like a more simple and traditional look in my guitars. However, I'm loving the subtle classy look of the diamond/square inlays - not something you notice right away but when you do it just adds to the feel of this guitar as a fine instrument.

Factory setup was slightly higher than my other guitars that I've had custom setup, but after playing for a bit I'm getting used to it and I might leave it as is for a while. It's certainly very playable right out of the box. One slight negative - like another reviewer mentioned, I'm not as keen on the molded plastic case since it doesn't slide in very well alongside the regular hard shell cases my other guitars came in, but it does seem very protective, and if it really bugs me I can switch it out.

But that's hardly a blip - I'm really loving this instrument! Highly recommended!

First I must thank Ryan Ashby and Sweetwater for the outstanding service on this purchase. The guitar is outstanding, as would be expected from a Martin. I"m not crazy about the plastic moulded case, but that can always be upgraded later and the case doesn"t produce the tone. I have a single 0 VS and a D-35 that I bought in 1974 and this one is quickly becoming my favorite acoustic. I have always had a love affair with Martin guitars and this one just keep the love affair going. Thanks Martin and thanks Ryan and Sweetwater.

I have purchased 3 new Martin guitars over the last 2&1/2 years, and all have been wonderful. The factory set up has been "OK" but what I consider slightly high. The quality of build and sound are wonderful in all three. Then came this one. I called my Sweetwater rep. Luke, but they did not have the guitar in stock, and another online dealer was having a Black Friday type sale, so I pulled the trigger. This 00-28 arrived in the Factory sealed box, and upon opening it, it took my breath away. Very, Very high quality build and sound. I am picky, and I found absolutely no flaws or oversights from the factory. All my last three Martins claimed to be PLEK'd however, this one really felt like all the PLEK hype is true. It plays better than any new guitar I have ever purchased, from the first fret on up the neck, and sounds balanced and angelic. I can only imagine what it will sound like once it gets played in. I highly recommend this guitar.

I have been going back and forth for several years on whether or not to get the acoustic guitar of my dreams or just upgrade a bit from my Taylor. Many of the guitar players I most love play Martin Acoustics and now I see why. I had the crew at Sweetwater have 5 guitars ready for me to come and play so I could decide which I wanted. It was a brutal decision and it came down to the 00 28 and the 000 28EC. I love Eric Clapton, my favorite of all time. But in the end, I chose the 00 28. This is a real guitar. Taylor and Gibson both make great products, but Martin makes the best acoustic guitar in the world. I've never played something so wonderful. I want to take a minute to say thanks to all at Sweetwater who assisted me above and beyond. It was worth the 2 hour drive from Ohio. Special thanks to Jonathon Casarow, my sales engineer. He hooked me up with a great deal. And to his colleague Austin who helped me as well when Jonathon was taking his day off. Also, special Kudos to Jon and Chris in the gear exchange who gave me a fair trade credit for my trade ins.
