Martin 000CJR-10E Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar - Burst Reviews
Hold down the low end — and then some — with this acoustic-electric bass from Martin! Packs plentiful sound for the gigging or traveling bassist, the 000CJR-10E starts with a spruce top, solid sapele back, and sides that combine for a balanced tone with plenty of projection. Then, Martin connected the hardwood neck to the body with a mortise and tenon neck joint, allowing for abundant low-end resonance. Martin capped the neck with a Richlite fingerboard for comfort when fretting and long-lasting durability. Its shorter scale and comfortable junior neck profile make it easy for almost anyone to get their hands around it. Meanwhile, its X-bracing and specially made strings hit the heart of thumping Martin bass tone. Lastly, you can revel in the gloriously natural bass tone when plugging in, thanks to a Fishman Sonitone pickup.

Bass for a guitar player
As a guitarist of 65 years, both in session work, touring and playing solo gigs as well as live with bands I have played the entire inventory of brands of electric and acoustic guitars. Early in my career I became a lifelong Martin devotee with my old reliable D-28s that span eighty years in age and sound better with every passing year, as well as my 000s, 00s and OMs. The newest D-28 in my inventory is a 1971 and the quintessential Martin is my recently acquired OM28e Modern Deluxe that combines all the best features of D-28s and OMs for the past eighty years with the added feature of the Aura on board pickup system that is second to none when plugged into anybody's board. I am not a bass player but I wanted the ability to add bass tracks to demos that I produce in my home studio and I have, once again, run the gamut of those short scale acoustic basses on the market for the past 7-8 years. As usual, the guys in Nazareth, PA have broken the code and produced an acoustic bass for the guitarist who is not at home playing bass guitar and needs very little adjustment in mindset when switching from a dreadnought or 000 to track a bass line. I have played it through a number of audio interfaces, a DI box, a PA as well as an old workhorse Ampeg B-15. The quality is unmistakably Martin and fits my purposes exactly with tone and playability never available from any other company. The price point for this instrument is hard to believe for that quality. Who would expect any less from Martin?
