My Martin 000-42

By CarlD from Florida on April 19, 2020 Music Background: Practice a lot

I would like to start off this review by saying, that I received this guitar from my wife for my 80th birthday.... and I would like to add that I am a Fanatic when it comes to perfection.... So, with that out of the way, here we go... This Martin Guitar is truly a work of Art... it is flawless... I am amazed at the quality and workmanship that has went into this guitar. Yes, I know it is pricey, but boy, what a Guitar.... Not only the build quality, but also the sounds that come from this Guitar, it is just super.... I cannot wait for the Guitar to "break-in".... I cannot imagine how much better this Guitar will sound.... In my opinion, this Guitar is again, Flawless.... I could not be happier.... I have had several guitars over the years, even a couple that were Custom built, but this Guitar shows me the Quality that stands well above the others.... I do not consider myself a good "Guitar Player".... Even tho I am 80 years old, and have been "practicing" guitar for over 20 years, I feel I know a little about Workmanship and Quality... and all I can say is, this Martin Guitar is, well, to put it simply, Outstanding.... I would like to add, Thanks to the Sweetwater team for the fast shipping, and Thanks to Codie for the "follow-ups"... It was a pleasure to do business with Sweetwater....

Martin 000-42

I've owned a lot of guitars both acoustic and electric, and this is by far my favorite acoustic of all time!

My First Martin

By Jeff on August 22, 2019 Music Background: Playing guitar for almost 60 years

My first impression of the guitar when I opened the case was that the photographs did not do it justice. It is an absolute piece of art. When I first picked it up I was surprised by how light it was. It weighs hardly anything. If someone told me that it was made out of balsam wood, I probably would believe them, it is so light.

It plays real easy and it sounds like no other guitar I have ever played. There are no dull areas, every frequency comes through, no matter where you are playing it on the fret board. It is also extremely well balanced in that none of the frequencies drowned out the others. It rings like a bell. It is now my favorite one of my guitars. I now really understand the Martin mystique.

In the past I have owned Gibson and Yamaha acoustic guitars. None of them even comes close to the sound of this Martin.

The Martin 000-42

By Tony S. from Lexington KY on August 9, 2019 Music Background: Played for over 45 years

I am happy as can be, to get my new Martin 000-42. I had to wait for a few weeks because they had sold out, but so worth the wait. Sweetwater rep Luke Herian, was on the ball with updates and very personal service exceeded by no other place I have purchased guitars from. Top notch guy and the guitar arrived in perfect condition and so easy to play right out of the box, no other set up needed, other than what Martin already did in making this gem. Thanks to Martin, Sweetwater and Luke. I'll be back!

Top of the line in playability and looks. Tone is sweet with both good bass and nice treble. Pricey but a lifetime guitar!

I own both a 000-28 EC and a 000-42. The 000 was the predecessor to the Dread. This guitar has taken me away from Dread's. A little less bass, but more balanced sound. If you need more bass, add L.R. Baggs pickup. I love this guitar.

This my second Martin and I can"t thank Clint enough for spending time discussing multiple options with me. This is a perfect complement to my D-42. In my opinion, this more than just a smaller version of a D-42. This guitar looks similar but has a different tonal character suited to my finger picking style. I"m looking forward to adding this to my studio projects.
