Martin 000-15M Acoustic Guitar - Mahogany Reviews

6-string Acoustic Guitar with Mahogany Top, Mahogany Back and Sides, Mahogany Neck, and Rosewood Fingerboard - Natural

Here's a great opportunity to get an incredible instrument, at an equally incredible value. The Martin 000-15M puts first-class Martin craftsmanship and world-renowned tonewoods into an instrument without the steep price tag. In fact, the 000-15M may be one of the best values you'll find. It features an all-mahogany body for an extremely warm-sounding tone. Strummers love it. Fingerstyle players adore it too. And the darker wood gives you a special look that stands out when you're performing or recording. When it's classic tone you're after, with top-shelf workmanship and artistry going into the instrument, you'll no doubt want a Martin - the Martin 000-15M.

Great guitar

By Michael Shepherd from Santa Rosa beach Fl on April 9, 2024 Music Background: Self taught

Great guitar and great service, thanks for both!

Great Guitar! Great Customer Service!

By Sweetwater Customer on March 19, 2024

Purchased my new Martin 000-15M by specific serial number from Sweetwater! Sweetwater shipped the guitar by FedEx! Tracking the shipment, I saw that FedEx said the package was delayed because the shipping label was not readable and had to be replaced. I was concerned that the shipment was damaged enroute. When it arrived, I found that the outside box was slightly damaged, however, the inside box and the guitar itself was still in pristine condition thanks to the very careful and professional packing by the Sweetwater technicians! I love the guitar (it has become my favorite to play)! Thank you Sweetwater!!

In love with this guitar

By Donovan Beats from WV on March 3, 2024

Sweetwater went above and beyond to get this guitar to me. I love the way it plays and sounds. Will be cherished as my main guitar for years to come.

Might just be the best guitar in its class

By Roger B from SE Michigan on March 1, 2024 Music Background: Playing guitar since 1962

I received my new 00015M and feel compelled to do a quick review. This is only the second review I've done and they have been for Sweetwater provided guitars.

First of all this guitar is exactly what I am looking for. It has a sweet, mello tone, but projects into the room adequately to accompany a singer, without competing with the voice. The build quality is superb. This one has adequate saddle showing and has no bindings…just a simple guitar in looks and construction. It has my favorite neck shape, one of the few Martins that still have the 1-11/16 nut width, which I love. I tweeked the nut slots slightly as I play fingerstyle. Now the action is perfect.

I'd like to also comment on Sweetwater, and specifically Victor Gomez, my sales engineer. I struggled finding the right guitar for my needs, and Victor was the model of patience and professionalism. Even when he had a day off he responded to my call by having his associate Juan call me, who was great to work with as well.

All in all, this has been a very satisfying experience resulting in a guitar that is perfect for my needs. Thanks Victor and Sweetwater. I recommended Sweetwater to a buddy who purchased two guitars within a month. He's a fan as well.

What a perfect fit!

An instrument that just keeps on giving... I love it!!

Perfect size

By Erik Rodriguez from Ft Worth Texas on October 3, 2023 Music Background: Lifelong amateur musician

This guitar is the perfect size for a guitar. Meaning that you could put a condenser mic in front of it and play it on a track and not even have to eq it. There is something to be said in that. It also has superb balanced volume for each string. For example on some guitars the G string will sound a lower decibel than the B string. On this guitar every note is the same volume. Excellent guitar for singer songwriting.

Love this guitar !

By Steven Wilmotte from Bulverde, TX on August 18, 2023

A fantastic guitar for the money. Plays great out of the box, has that nice mahogany smell. As always, thanks to James and the Sweetwater crew for a smooth sales experience.

Stunning!

By Morgan Thomas from Bucyrus, OH on August 16, 2023 Music Background: Gigging musician for the better part of 15+ years in my free time.

This is my first higher end guitar purchase and first OM body style. Previously I grew us learning on an Alvarez dreadnought guitar.

The craftsmanship on these are out of this world. Amazing finish. I really enjoy the look without binding on these. The mahogany wood looks, feels, and smells amazing (I know, it may sound odd). Its like opening a wooden cigar box!
Playability this thing feels wonderful in the hands while playing. very comfortable playing sitting down. I play both sitting and standing depending on a gig vs at home practicing. I was between this and the Matrin 000-12E Koa acoustic/electric. While the two are the same body style, they do play and feel pretty different, but i was really trying to look at guitars with electronics already installed. The neck on the 000-15m feels much smoother and thinner than the 000-12E. Acoustically, i fell in love with the darker sound of the 000-15m. I did end up choosing this 000-15m over the 000-12E, but I did add an LR Baggs M1 Active pickup after I purchased it.

It's a Martin!!!

By Donnie. from Indiana on February 14, 2023 Music Background: Guitar player.

As an older guy. This reminds me of the days before they could forecast the gender of a new born baby. It was a surprise back in the day. "It's a Boy, it's a Girl, it's a Martin!!"
Nothing bad to say about this guitar. The feel, playability & sound is great. For a smaller guitar the sustain is out of this world. Anything you know how to do on a acoustic guitar, this will do it & more.
For the price of this USA made Martin you can't beat it. WARNING!! If you pick this guitar up after work. You will be tired the next day. Because you can't put the thing back down.
I have & had several acoustic guitars in my life time. And some are good guitars. But this Martin... What can I say? Just wish I would have got one when I 1st started playing. Then I would have a 45 year old Martin.
Donnie.

Sweet mellow beauty

By Ben B on February 6, 2023 Music Background: Worship guitarist

Absolutely love the sweet mellow yet articulate tone this mahogany guitar produces. Whether you are playing finger style or with a pick this thing responds beautiful. I always loved the my friends D15M. I opted for the 000 for the more comfortable body size and play ability and have no regrets. I've installed the LR Baggs Anthem SL which is a perfect for what I needed to get this plugged in at church. If your on the fence about this, get your hands on one and good luck letting go!

Beautiful tone

By Trevor Thomas from CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA on February 1, 2023

I've been playing for about 25 years and would still consider myself at a beginner/intermediate level still since I only now just started taking lessons. The only guitar I've had during this time was a Takamine G series which itself has a great sound at an affordable price. This guitar however, is incredibly easy on the hands and has such an incredible tone when strumming by hand and fingerpicking. With a pick it easily projects a wall of sound loudly. It's simple in design, but that's what makes it beautiful. The pictures online didn't do it justice. When I opened the case (and yes I painfully waited the recommended 24 hours), all I could say was "Wow". The smell of the mahagony is intoxicating and makes it hard to put down. The neck plays real smooth and has a great feel. The smaller body size is deceiving as this puts out a great sound that easily rivals my larger Takamine. My first Martin and I have to say this one will be going to my grave with me.

9 years old and better than new

By Leon from MO on December 7, 2022 Music Background: Self taught passionate guitar & music lover

I bought a 000-15M in 2013. It was an impulse buy, I wasn't shopping for a new guitar. But I was just hanging out trying different acoustic guitars. They had two 000-15M's and the one played and sounded much better than the other one, so I bought it. I really didn't think it was as great as the other guitars I owned, but being small and all Mahogany it was a nice addition. Over the first 5 years I only played occasionally. But I noticed it kept sounding better the more I played it. Now I've owned it for 9 years and I am So very glad I happened to buy it. I also like the fact there is no binding to shrink and pull off like all my other MARTIN guitars have done.

150+ 5-star reviews can't be wrong

By Sweetwater Customer on May 20, 2022

Here, there, everywhere you look, this guitar gets five stars from everyone. You can trust the reviews. I hereby verify 'em all. People talk about the scent: it smells amazing. I raved about the smell to such a degree that my wife got me a candle scented mahogany -- and now I want to wear some mahogany essential oil so I smell like the guitar when it, for some reason, *exudes* out of nowhere while playing. People talk about its tone and playability: it's sweet, rich, heady, quieter than my old Fender acoustic purchased for $230 in 1987, a guitar I thought was perfectly fine, same way I thought my old Volvo was perfectly fine until we got a new car and I realized what a modern suspension system was all about. This feels like a new car for me. Intonation is perfect. Sustain is angelically sick. Just playing along the high E, letting the B ring in sympathy, it's something special. People talk about open tunings with capos: DADGAD with the capo at the 7th fret, it's like a mandolin or something, makes me play weird inspired jigs. People talk about its look: the unadorned elegance of the wood and finish is a treat, although I usually need to force myself to look down at the guitar as I'm staring into space playing, at most only looking at the fretboard through my fingertips. Case is solid and lined with green felt. Sweetwater is almost ridiculously good customer service-wise (they even include some candy in the package), following up with calls and e-mails I didn't return because I've been too busy. Securely packaged and perfectly setup. Overall, I'd rate the guitar and the purchasing experience six stars. Very happy with it. Will most likely never buy another acoustic in my life (had the last one 35 years) but would get this one again if something happens to it. If you're on the fence, extract that post from your posterior and proceed with your order.

Right up there with the best of them

By Mark from Salem, OR on March 23, 2022 Music Background: Semi-Pro, songwriter, recording artist, worship ministry

This is my first Martin guitar and I absolutely love it! However it's not my first guitar. I'm in my 60's now and have played since age 9. I've owned too many guitars to count over the years, many of them high end guitars. Besides my electric "herd" I currently own a Taylor 816CE, Taylor T5z and a Taylor nylon. Taylors are great guitars but there's something about the 000-15m that makes it unique. The tone is captivating. It resonates so wonderfully and the sound is rich and full. This is the acoustic that I reach for 90% of the time. I put a K&K mini in it to use when playing in a venue. That has worked very well. I will keep this guitar forever. As always Sweetwater (Dustin Keenesbury) was great to work with.

Much better than I anticipated

By Stephen May from Milledgeville, GA on February 9, 2022 Music Background: play guitar and bass in praise and worship band/ensemble

I did a ton of research before deciding that I wanted a 000-15M. This guitar checked all the boxes for me: solid wood, no electronics, 000 body, 1.69" nut width, open back tuners (I love how they look), quality construction, and excellent customer reviews. So I pulled the trigger and ordered it and I have been happy with it from the moment I unboxed it. I have had it 3 months now and I couldn't be happier. As much as I like how it sounds when I am playing it, it sounds even better when I let one of my friends play it and I listen to it from across the room. I will keep this guitar as long as I live. I installed a K&K Pure Mini because I play at church, and I want my acoustic to sound like an acoustic even when it's plugged in. I'm very happy with that decision as well. My sales rep Brent Leuthold always makes my purchases a pleasant experience.

What I now compare all other guitars to

By Garland Jones from Magnolia, TX on February 7, 2022 Music Background: Not yet a novice, played off and on all my life, more off than on.

I'm far from a journeyed player and in fact consider myself almost a novice.
But, since I've taken to playing again (after a life time of off and on, mostly off, playing)
the Martin 00015M is what I judge all other guitars by.
Since taking up guitar, again, in March of 2020, I've bought several guitars. I currently own
11, but the total, counting ones I traded back, the 4 I've sold and the 2 I gave to a vets organization,
the total is approaching 20, with 1 of them being a Martin 00017.
The 00015M, is IMO nearly novice opinion, is the epitome of a guitar.
I only wish I had gotten the E version. I've started doing *open mic* sessions and I guess
in order to use it, I'll have to get an LR Baggs "lyric" since trying to mic it the 2 mics we use
get feed back from one another.
Still, I LOVE this guitar!

Best Value?

By Jeff from Fort Wayne, IN on January 21, 2022 Music Background: Casual, singer/songwriter, worship leader

Honestly, this guitar checks a lot of boxes for a huge variety of players. Ranging from sitting on the couch learning to play, songwriting, or playing at your local church worship band, or gigging wherever, this thing really can do it all and do it all well. I am very surprised that the price is what it is. I bought mine about 18 months ago and if you are looking for something that is very nice and extremely well built meaning it will last a lifetime with good care, and at the same time feel and sound incredible doing all of that, your search is over. The tone is of course a bit warmer as it is all mahogany, but don't let that fool you. This beast can sing beautifully and get quite loud for the size and warmer tone. I bought this in a 00 size for my dad as a all in one Christmas/birthday, everything kind of gift and he absolutely loves it and I say the same for that one too!

Martin 00015M

By Sweetwater Customer on December 26, 2021 Music Background: I am in my 60s and have been playing since 6yrs old

My sales engineer is Jeff Weinstein. Absolutely great guy. Very helpful and knowledgeable. Actually cares about the customer. This Martin 00015M is without a doubt the most enjoyable, incredibly voiced, guitar that you could want. I have Gibsons, Larrive's, Epiphone, as well as other Martin's. This guitar sounds INCREDIBLE!! You will not be sorry if you purchase this one. Keep up the great work MARTIN GUITARS, and Jeff you are the best! Thank you.

Just do it!

By Greg Jeanfreau from NEW ORLEANS, LA on December 3, 2021

Love this thing! I've owned and played many a guitar in my 43 years (31ish playing), but I've never owned a straight up 6 string acoustic. I am now spoiled. It's absolutely beautiful!

Martin 000-15m

By Garret Kennedy from HENDERSONVILLE, NC on July 18, 2021

Great guitar that sounds awesome.

It's all that...and more!

By Seth615 from Nashville on July 2, 2021 Music Background: plenty and yet never enough

It's finger-picking' heaven. Being an old-school Bluesman, this Martin, whew-eee, what a fine instrument. The harmonics are so clear and responsive to the slightest whim of your fingertips. The sustain, is insane. Outstanding projection, this dawg can get plenty loud. I love 000-style, just a perfect size, and thought nothing could compare to my Gibson Custom LG-2 1942 Banner reissue. Well, this 000-15m holds its own on every level. As a DADGAD player, I'm using the 000-15m with capo, kicking up to the E flavor, and kick it does. Sounds incredible in the D too, but E is the super-sweet sonic spot. The Martin strings pair well, and yeah, we'll stick with 'em. Set-up? Very playable fresh out of the case, and you can believe all the reviews referencing that unmistakable mahogany aroma. And thank you Sweetwater team! Drew Foster is a fantastic sales engineer, super communication and follow-up. I had to wait almost 2 months for delivery... but definitely this 000-15m was worth the wait.

Couldn't have been better!

By John DeWitt on March 22, 2021

Start to finish, I can't imagine having a better online purchase experience. Sweetwater's site and focus on customer satisfaction are exceptional and my new Martin guitar arrived in perfect condition.

Amazing Guitar at a great price!

By Darren from NC on February 26, 2021 Music Background: Gigging musician

You cannot beat this Martin for price, playability, sound and overall value. I received mine yesterday. Set up was great right out of the box. That rich wood aroma hits you right when you open the case. Beautiful wood grain. Amazing sound projection given the 000 size also. My Sweetwater rep Ben Robinson has an expert level of knowledge and is always a pleasure to connect with - thanks for getting this one out to me Ben, I love it!

My advice......buy this guitar, you won't regret it!

Oh MY MY

By Craig M Jordon from CA on December 26, 2020

I have owned many acoustic guitars in my lifetime, several Martins, and Taylors. I purchased this guitar from Sweetwater more out of curiosity about the simplistic design and all mahogany construction. I can say without reservation that this guitar is one of the finest I have ever played. Martin has put together a fine instrument that includes a rosewood fretboard and saddle, a bone nut, Grover open back tuners and small snowflake fret markers. I think the simple design is beautiful. The guitar is perfect in it's playability, string spacing and intonation. It sounds wonderful and deserves the solid Martin case that it comes in. This one I will keep forever....Craig

A perfect acoustic guitar design

By Sweetwater Customer on November 11, 2020 Music Background: Professional Musician/ Backline Tech

I have always gravitated toward smaller bodied mahogany guitars and knew the 000-15 was always one of my dream guitars. The resonance and sustain out of this guitar is absolutely unreal. You can feel every note ring out through the tonewood. In my opinion it's a perfectly balanced tone that responds perfectly to your playing, it can really sing and get punchy when you dig in with a pick but still a delight for softer finger style playing. never too muddy or too harsh. Extremely well-built and timeless design, it truly holds up to guitars twice as expensive. There's a reason why these guitars are so popular. It'll always be my go-to acoustic and I'd consider it a "must have" for any guitarist or producer's collection.

I love everything about this beauty

By Tom from Florida on August 22, 2020

I decided to pick guitar back up again after about 40 years. After playing my old Framus for about a month I decided to treat myself to something new in this price range. I had in my mind I would get a Taylor. Went to the local store a couple times and tried some Taylors among others, but kept coming back to this Martin and eventually pulled the trigger at Sweetwaters. I absolutely love this guitar. Easy to play, action is perfect and stays in tune. The mahogany looks, feels and smells beautiful. And the sound is rich and deep. If you are debating between this baby and another, buy it...I promise you won't regret it.

beautiful - great for acoustic blues

By Charles from New York on July 26, 2020 Music Background: jazz pianist mostly, but learning acoustic blues guitar

This is a beautiful guitar with a great sound. I would describe the sounds as "woody", deep, soulful. Calm, subtle. Not in-your-face. I play acoustic finger style blues, and it sounds really good on this guitar.
I had a cheaper guitar that I started on, and I didn't really feel I deserved a better guitar since I'm not that great on guitar. But after taking the plunge, I realize it was the right decision. It's best to learn on a good instrument. I found I played more and enjoyed it more when I had a better instrument.
In terms of buying a guitar online, I had my reservations. I did some research and then consulted my sales engineer. As always, he's very helpful, and he gave some great tips. I played a few guitars in a physical store, and then made my decision. The guitar arrived in playable condition, meaning the action was at a reasonable height and nothing really needed to be done to it. I didn't get an actual setup until two years later, when the action just seemed too high. I should have gotten the setup earlier, as it makes is much easier to play when the action and neck are just right.

Basic Martin Goodness is Anything But Basic

By Derek Ormond from Indian Orchard on February 8, 2020 Music Background: A Wannabe Who Just LOVES Music SO MUCH!

I bought the Martin 000-15M as an upgrade to a Fender dreadnought with a solid top and laminate sides that never really fit me. The Martin is a perfect fit. The vibration of the top and the sustain are incredible to witness. The guitar is sparse on appointments, but that's part of the charm. Plus, it's anything but a plain Jane. This is as fine a Martin as you can buy before upgrading to Martin's Standard models. I can confirm what you may have read from others. The smell upon opening the case is intoxicating, every time. This guitar makes my heart sing. How could I not give it five stars?

That said, I bought the Martin 000-15M during the holiday rush. The interest-free offer was just too good to pass up. Does it shock anyone that shipping was a challenge at that time of year or that one of my items was crushed under the massive onslaught of holiday orders delivered by the carrier? LOL! In the future, I might be more hesitant to order during the Christmas rush, but I certainly wouldn't downgrade my review of an item because of it. Brandon Eden, of course, made everything brilliant, as usual. That's why I mention the snags. Sometimes things don't go exactly according to plan, especially with Christmas looming. What I've come to rely on and appreciate, though, is the consistency of Brandon Eden and Sweetwater.

Thank you, Brandon! You know the drill. As soon as I pay this one off - and it won't be long - I'll be buying the next drool-worthy item from Sweetwater. :)

The best of the best

By Osiel Arellano from New York on August 28, 2019 Music Background: Worship Leader

This guitar is what I"ve always wanted. The sound and the comfortability is just out of this world. For the price, I don"t see any other guitar competing with this one. I currently have the Martin retro strings on it and it compliments the warm tones. Install a LR Baggs M1 and you"re set!!! Best bang for your buck. If you"re thinking of it, just do it!!!! You won"t regret it!

Dream guitar, only better.

By Jason Method from Orland, CA on April 2, 2019 Music Background: 30 year hobbyist

As the title says, this is one of my dream guitars, but this is one of those rare exceptions when reality exceeds the expectations you have built up. Like so many, I fell in love with a 000 Martin watching Clapton croon out Layla on MTV unplugged. Wanted a 000-42 or -45 in the worst way.
However, the focus of my desire shifted to a 000-15 when I read about the unsung virtues of the old mahogany topped Martins of old. Years went past, and I always looked for that elusive 000-15, figuring I would probably settle for a less expensive 000 model one day. Fast forward to a month ago, my wife and I were in a local GC and I see the mahogany object of 25 years worth of desire. One A chord was all it took to convince me I had to make this happen, though my wife had to convince me I was worthy of it.
I couldn"t be happier. I"ve played it every day since it arrived, and I"ve learned more in the last few weeks than I have in years. It"s beautiful, it plays wonderfully, it SMELLS like heaven, it"s just perfect.
If you"ve been hesitating, don"t. Buy one.
This was my first Sweetwater purchase, and I couldn"t be happier with the deal and the service I received. Far superior to the aforementioned competition

My First Martin

By Steve from New Jersey on February 23, 2019

First I would like to disclose that I do not normally write reviews, but felt my new Martin 000-15 warranted it. Before I go on with the review, I want to acknowledge the outstanding customer service that Sweetwater provides especially to my sales engineer Nick LaMendola. He persevered through all my questions, concerns, emails and calls with steadfast dedication remaining focused on the best customer service that only he and Sweetwater could provide. If you shopped Sweetwater before you already knew about the great service and that"s why I keep coming back.

After observing the 24 acclamation period recommendation, I removed the case from the packaging. My first reaction was that the case was of lower quality (Not as nice as the Taylor HSC). When I opened the case, the smell of a new mahogany guitar greeted me. Very nice!

Finish Quality – I carefully inspected the guitar and she"s a winner. The mahogany finish is beautiful. Such a no frills classic look. Sometimes simplicity can speak volumes. I love it. The action was fine, but a tad high for my personal taste, but still very playable. The 000-15 is very light weight guitar. Since it doesn"t have a gloss finish, it"s very vulnerable to scratches and dings (Would not recommend this as a regular gigging guitar). Handle with care! Bottom line the 000-15 is built well and has that classic Martin pre-war look that"s pleasing to the eye.

First thing I did was tune her up before playing (duh) and then checked the intonation. Spot on (BTW… these guitars are Plek"d). The open chords sound wonderful on this guitar. After hitting an open E with authority, I can feel the back vibrate against my stomach. It was even more evident on the top after striking the open E again. The top is definitely lively. A good sign in an acoustic. Whether striking a chord or hitting a single note, I found the sustain to go on for quite a while. Very nice. The 000-15 tone is very sweet, warm and pleasing to my ears. I was always and still a fan of mahogany made guitars.

I was looking for a made in America Martin that didn"t break the bank and I found it in the 000-15. Overall, the 000-15 provides great sound, playability, and quality. Highly recommended. Purchase with confidence from Sweetwater. Thanks!

Simplicity at its best!

By JPM from New Orleans on February 21, 2019

This is Martins greatest secret! The 000-15m is such a pleasure to play. I have two other Martins (D18 & HD28) but I wanted to try a different body style without spending a lot of money. The 000-15m was the answer. I did my research and decided to get this from Sweetwater a couldn"t be happier! The customer service was excellent. Thanks David!

Figerpicker's perfection!

By Adrienne Alexander from Maine on January 23, 2019 Music Background: Long and varied; fingerpicker (classic, acoustic, and electric guitar; banjo)

The rest of the reviewers have said it all, but I have one thing to add. Strings seem to make a big difference in tone and response.
I started of with some PBs, then went to Martin Retros. The Retros were warm and resonant, very nice, but when they wore out, I replaced them with Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze (for me, extra light 10/50s). Perfection became double perfection and super wow. Though I thought the guitar was responsive before, the difference in tonal response has been astounding to my ears.

My #1 go to guitar

By Shawn MacNeal from Bremerton, WA on November 11, 2018

I"ve had this guitar for 6 months and now just writing a review. This guitar is definitely my number one go to guitar. I play many others but always come back to this 000-15m. It plays so smooth, and sounds so good. Only thing I"ve done is lower the action and restring with D"Addario coated custom light phosphor bronze. Super high quality guitar, you know the difference when you play it. It"s that good.

This guitar is truly top notch

By Jacob on October 2, 2018 Music Background: Worship Leader/Muscician

I got this guitar without playing it in person because of the other 30 reviews on this model. I ordered it after speaking to Brian my Sweetwater tech and I actually first decided to order the 000-17 whiskey sunset. Glad I changed my mind the same day to this one, they changed my order and shipped this bad boy and it came next day, haven"t stopped playing. Such a sweet guitar really, if you"re on the fence about this one go get it, whether you strum or fingerpick this thing really sings and just feels so warm. Thankful for Brian and the Sweetwater team for dealing with how indecisive I am, they rock!

Another Sweetwater/Martin & Co. Home Run

By Jimbo from Sedalia, MO on April 15, 2018 Music Background: Hobbyist

Big bang for the buck (value). Smells lovely (aroma). Simplistic appearence (understated natural beauty). Distinctive voice (warm resonating woody tone). Repeatedly watched 2 weeks of youtube video's before pulling the trigger to make this purchase. Needed a (tonal/visual) change from spruce tops and rosewood back & sides.

Like my 000-mmv, My 000-15m is a perfect size fit for me (comfortable shallower body depth). Plays fingerstyle & lite strumming easily (Charm).

Personalized with a K&K Pure mini (Passive) pickup, Korg Rimpitch Chromatic Sound Hole Acoustic Guitar Tuner, Levy's Leathers MSS2-4-BLK 4 Garment Leather Signature Series Bass Guitar Strap, Black, Schaller Nickel strap lock, and D'Addario CinchFit Acoustic Jack Lock. Lowered the saddle for increased playability while maintaining volume.

I am simply blown away by the sound, playability, quality and beauty of this guitar! I own a Martin HD-28, and an Alvarez Yairi, but this guitar has captured my heart! The sound is warm and inviting, it’s lush with beautiful overtones, and the sustain of a picked note or strummed chord outlasts my other two guitars.
I mainly use this guitar for fingerstyle, but it’s got a great range of character that will lend itself nicely to a diversity of styles.
I was hesitant about purchasing a top quality guitar online, but Sweetwater was the way to go as they proved themselves reliable every step of the way! I fully recommend the purchase of this guitar if you’re contemplating it, you will not be disappointed! Honestly, if I was only able to have one guitar it would be the Martin 000-15M!

Beautiful Guitar that only Angles should own

By Michael Busch from Saginaw, MI on June 28, 2017

I bought this guitar for my father-in-law who is an amazing guy and has played guitar since he was 20 years old. He's now almost 60 and would have NEVER bought himself a nice Martin Guitar even though he has always wanted a Martin. The only nice guitar he ever owned was a 1959 Les Paul guitar that he found in an attic during his college years. His wife subsequently sold his Les Paul for $20 at a garage sale and his marriage has been stressed since.

I bought this guitar based on reviews, and while I wanted to spend less than $ I couldn't justify buying him anything but the best. I never got to play the Martin 000-15M before I purchased it from Sweetwater which made me nervous. When she arrived I let her adjust to the 20 degree weather here in Michigan and when I finally opened the case all I wanted to do was smell her.

I smelled her for about an hour and then I finally started to strum. Oh my god. Even if you've never played a guitar before you could pick this guitar up, start strumming like a toddler and it would still sound good! Forget hitting a string that didn't sound good, because you can't play this guitar and not be breath stricken.

When you buy from Sweetwater expect a very personal experience. Within a few hours of purchasing the guitar I received an email from Aaron Swaidner asking me about the purchase and he called me the next day about the purchase. I sent him an email about the history and why I bought the guitar and received a very personalized email back from Aaron and his personal experience with his own guitars.

If ever in the future I buy a guitar I will buy from Sweetwater. Their prices are the best, and I'm willing to bet that if they are not the best they will work with you to make their prices the best. I picked up this guitar for $1,399 and I have never second guessed the purchase. The guitar is absolutely beautiful and smells just as good as it sounds.

If you want to spend $12,000 on a Martin guitar, then good for you, I'm glad you're a CEO of a big corporation. If you want the best sounding guitar and you're a regular redneck or white or blue-collar worker then this guitar will be everything you want it to be and more. I wish I had one myself, I just thank God that my father-in-law lets me play it whenever I visit.

Beautiful

By Bobby from Bothell WA on June 4, 2017 Music Background: Long time amatuer

First off this is a bare bones American made Martin. I chose this because I love the sweet mellow sound of mahagony, it fits my acoustic style. I mostly finger pick and emphasize the bass notes. For comparison I also have an HD35 which I use for slide and strumming. The 00015M is smaller and isn't as loud as the HD 35, its more mellow and and easier to hold while sitting down. I like them both, they each have thier own distinct personality.

The 00015M is the one I pick up when I'm by myself and feeling creative. When I have a new idea I want to express it and see where it goes. At night when something pops into my head and I dont want to lose it. It becomes a part of me.

Fingerstyler's Dream Guitar

By Bob Perrone from Allentoan, PA on February 1, 2017 Music Background: Instrumental solo acoustic performer

A true bargain for such a perfect instrument, especially if you play fingerstyle. Warm, thick resonance and just the right amount of bark/bite if you need it. I felt as one with this guitar when I first picked it up to try it, which is extremely rare (at least for me).
It's my go-to baby and helps me speak musically in volumes...incredible instrument and I think the best bargain on the guitar planet by far.

My Brownie

By Tim from Dallas on January 19, 2017

I love my little guitar. The sound is sweet. It stays in tune for weeks at a time. I pick it up and play and I just can't believe how smooth, mellow and rich it is.
I dont want to play anything else anymore. Did I mention how pretty it is? It is now my most prized possession. The kind of thing I hope to pass down to my son. It just feels special. I know I sound a little dramatic but I really love this instrument.

A master piece!!

By Israel Torres from Springfield MA on February 25, 2016

I'm very impressed with its sound and resonance. Delivered on time, 23th was the day and I felt like a kid with his Christmas most anticipated toy. It sounds like heaven and it's easy to play any style, from strumming until fingerstyle. I fell in love with it at very first sight. Thanks to my Sweetwater friends specially Robert, I really appreciated your help. Highly recommended

Doesn't get much better

By Bob Nat from UAE on January 31, 2016

If you're into alternate picking blues you'll love this guitar. I've owned Yamahas for most of my life and then finally got a Taylor about 8 years. It's a great guitar but when I made the transition to country blues it just didn't have the right sound. Two years ago on a trip home to Boston I found the 000-15m in a shop and knew I had found the perfect guitar. My Taylor has come out of the case maybe 4 times in the last two years...it just can't compete with the Martin for this style of music.

What's interesting is if one does a search on the 000-15m you'll find only positive reviews. Everyone who owns one loves it, at least the ones who post online. There's just no negatives about it at all. And it smells great!!!

Perfection

By Jorge from New York on January 12, 2016

I have been playing guitar for over 30 yeras. This is my first Martin guitar. And the first time I bought a guitar online. What a pleasant surprise!!! This is an incredible sounding instrument. It is light, very easy to play, and it sounds amazing with deep overtones. Great for strumming also. I have spent twice as much on another "Classic Acoustic Sound" and I feel I was ripped off compared to this one. I wish I had bought it a long time ago. Sweewater service was fantastic!!

Jesus In A Guitar

By Anthony from Texas on May 16, 2015 Music Background: Audio Engineer/Producer/Musician

Having been a guitarist for over a decade I've played a lot of guitars, acoustics included, and I can confidently say this instrument stands above the rest I have played. Surely you could spend twice this much on a "higher quality" acoustic guitar, but I cannot imagine a better quality sound coming from an acoustic guitar. If you are looking for a warm, smooth, and VERY resonant (no joke, when having conversations in my studio you can hear the acoustic resonating on the wall) instrument, this is your guitar. Also, this guitar sounds beautiful when recorded. Just the perfect EQ balance with smooth overtones. After a hi pass filter and light compression, my work is done on the mixing end with this beauty. Just get it!

000-15M Heaven

By Steve from Chicagoland on April 14, 2015

Love this guitar - the sound is incredible! The triple zero has great volume and amazing sustain.
I was nervous about the setup/action but man it is perfect. The pictures that are posted per serial number is a huge benefit when buying online. I wanted a darker mahogany and the images were dead on.

The only con was the case - near the bottom the vinyl had some weird wrinkles in it around the edge - almost like too much material was used and it bunched up. Does it really matter? Nope, cause I am not playing the case - its something that just holds the guitar but in an effort of a through review I thought I would mention it.

Can't go wrong with a Martin - Best guitar I own - I also have a Fender and a Martin DC-16

Finally!!!

By David Patton from Saint Petersburg, FL on March 12, 2015 Music Background: Singer/Songwriter

In 1978, I played my first Martin guitar. It was a D41 my brother-in-law still has to this day...I knew that one day I would have a Martin of my own. But after discovering Nick Drake I had to have an all mahogany, auditorium style guitar. This 000-15M, that I pick out online, is the most sweet and even sounding acoustic guitar I've ever owned. No frills, just a simple guitar that has an intimate rich midrange tone. And I could never say enough about the professional service and care from all the representatives at Sweetwater in bringing this work of art to me. Thank you so much guys...

Favorite guitar!!

By Sweetwater Customer on October 21, 2014

I have wanted a Martin guitar for at least 13 years and have finally got one! This guitar is my favorite at the moment. I play it every day. The 000-15M is a great sounding guitar and I am very impressed with the playability. It is everything I wanted in an acoustic guitar. Sweetwater customer service is great. Received a phone call from them right after I ordered the guitar, to see if I had any questions. What a great experience!

Outstanding

My Martin 000-15m guitar has the most beautiful wood pattern on it's top I have ever seen on mahogany

Want Clear, Woody, Martin Tone?

By Jared from Wenatchee, WA on March 7, 2014 Music Background: Worship Leader, Music Teacher

I've played only Martin acoustics for 15 years. All through high school and college I led worship using my faithful laminated Martin (000-CX1E) and was even surprised by how warm and full that guitar sounded. I've wanted a solid mahogany Martin for years and started my search a few months ago. It came down to the D-15m and the 000-15m. Since I wanted a deep, warm, full sound I thought perhaps the D-15m would be the better choice since the 000-15m was a "smaller" body... WOW was I wrong! The 000-15m not only has PLENTY of low end "thump" and volume, it's also MUCH clearer and more articulate for strumming and picking than the D-15m, in my opinion. And what gets me is the body size. I'm not a big guy, so the full dreadnought size can sometimes make my shoulder hurt. This 000-15m is SO comfortable to play. I do mostly finger/flat-picking, and the smaller size allows me to feel like I'm very "near" to the body and fretboard. I've also heard from recording engineers that one of the reasons most professionals (Clapton, Mayer, etc) choose the "000" body size for their signature acoustics is it's the most balanced sound for not only live performance but also in the studio. Don't get me wrong, the D-15m is an awesome choice as well, especially for hard strummers. But for me, the comfortable body size and balanced, full sound from this 000-15m won me over. No contest.

Special thanks to Ben Porter at Sweetwater for being the best! Thanks for all your help over the years to us at Grace City Church!

Amazing guitar amazing value!

By David Brown from Anchorage AK on February 21, 2014 Music Background: 32 years of playing some professional.

This was truly a surprise for me. Very big, clear tone from a small guitar! Beautiful balanced sound, wonderful action! I bought it for fingerpicking but easily holds up under vigorous flatpicking. I have several other accoustic guitars. Other Martins and Gibson. This guitar is truly a standout and most likely the last guitar I would part with!

Pure pleasure.

By George Helton from Mesick, MI on February 19, 2014 Music Background: Folky, country musician, amateur luthier.

This guitar is just a pure pleasure to play and listen to. It's and incredible value. Simply one of the finest Martins I've ever owned. I own three other high end guitars, another Martin and a couple of fine Taylors. But, this is the go to instrument that sits next to me to just pickup and enjoy playing. The action is perfect right out of the case. The is sound is sweet and full . Loves to be played finger picked or flat picked. You can't go wrong with this one. It's so cool that it needed one special touch which was a set of open gear gold Grover's tuners. The open gear nickel Grover's that it comes worked perfectly.

My Baby

By Sheri Flynn from Humphrey, AR, USA on February 9, 2014 Music Background: Hobbyist/my Happy Place

Like me, most guitar players feel that you can never really own too many guitars. We are all correct. However, most of us are always looking for the ONE. This guitar is remarkable. The perfect size for me. The action is amazing. But the sound is truly outstanding. Clear, mellow, intimate, beautiful. This one is my baby. I'm playing almost daily and writing (after years of not writing) and I've only had her a couple weeks. My service representative Ben was amazing and as excited as I was for me to get this beautiful guitar. Buy from Sweetwater. You will not be disappointed.

Martin 00015

Guitar sounds incredible. I've owned several lower end acoustics and now I see and hear the difference.
As always Sweetwater customer service is awesome.

Beautiful to look at; extraordinary to play!

By Chris from Reno., NV on October 16, 2013 Music Background: Recreational Player

I waited several years to buy a Martin guitar. I have owned less expensive instruments and was satisfied. I know after playing this guitar, others will not feel right. Thanks for making such a wonderful guitar available at a terrific price.

Gem

By J. Guertin from Marysville, MI on April 7, 2013 Music Background: hobbyist

This is a fantastic guitar, fantastic buy. The money you invest in this all goes into producing the natural organic sound coming out of it. Isn't that the number 1 reason to buy a guitar? If you like the sound of mahogany, this guitar sounds as good as any. I recommend putting some Elixir Nanoweb strings on it.........that really makes this guitar sing.

Simplicity and Sweetness

By William Lee Kinney from Washington, NC on February 15, 2013 Music Background: Former Pro Musician, Singer Songwriter

Shape, craftsmanship and the warmth and sweetness of mahogany come together in the hands of the player to create a truly joyful musical experience. Thanks to Martin's many years of experience, my beautifully crafted 00015M came out of the case singing. With a smooth neck, excellent workmanship, the warmth of the mahogany tonewood and comfort of the smaller body shape make this guitar ideal for creating an intimate musical experience. But don't be fooled, with the proper sound reproduction this Martin will please the ear and heart in the studio or on the stage.

Oh, and let us not forget the excellent customer service I received from Sweet water's Peter Van Dorn. Well done!

Everything I'd hoped for

By Sweetwater Customer from IA on September 30, 2010 Music Background: Hobbyist

I ordered this quite some time ago and it was worth the wait. I had an 000-15 a few years ago that I let go and have regretted it until now. This guitar is so easy to play (I don't have large hands, and it also is set up well), and while it doesn't have the volume of a dread, it sounds incredible. It is also a much prettier guitar than my previous 000-15 (Sapele), and I do like the vintage appointments. You won't be disappointed with this one.

My #1 acoustic

By Sam on November 24, 2023

A few years ago I was looking for a "nice" acoustic that I could own for life. I did some research and ended up with this guitar. I wanted one with all solid wood and no electronics. I wanted something smaller than the Taylor 114ce that I had at the time. The 000 size is perfect. Just big enough to retain the rich sound of an acoustic but without the bulk of a GA or D shape. I paid a little over $ for it at the time which now seems like a steal. After COVID the prices have shot up and this guitar sits at $. In addition, Martin has decided to take away the hardshell case and replaced it with a gig bag. In my opinion, that's unacceptable for an all solid wood guitar. If I had to make the decision now, I'm not sure I'd buy this new. The price is harder to justify for what you get. Of course, this will be subjective. I would recommend trying several acoustics before settling on this one. If you do get one, you are getting a wonderful guitar. But you may be just as happy with a different guitar at a lower price.

Sounds WONDERFUL

By Landon from Utah on January 6, 2023 Music Background: Musician

I absolutely love this guitar. It really has the Martin sound and is extremely well made. With that said, the nitro finish they use is very thin and delicate. After just a couple days, I found multiple scuffs in the finish from just normal use. I didn't bang it on anything. So if you want a guitar that's extremely durable, this may not be the one for you. But, over time it will look cool with the wear and tear.

In a nutshell

By Richard from Colorado on November 21, 2021 Music Background: Professional Musician

I am very pleased with the Martin 000-15m.My playing style required that I change out the nut.Slots one and six were cut too close to the edge of the fretboard. I made a new bone nut with strings one and six set 3/32 in from the edge of the board. Now my left hand is happy! Overall Martin has a winner!

Martin 000-15M

This Martin is a sweet guitar: excellent construction, feel, sound quality. Sweetwater is best-in-class; a pleasure to deal with..

Great guitar

By Keith on November 23, 2018

Great guitar, smooth playing and excellent looks. However, and this may or may not be a big deal to a buyer but the top and sides are not made of genuine mahogany. According to Martin, they construct their 000-15m's out of either spanish cedar, sipele or sipo. Just a heads up if that's a concern.

A character

By Afşin Kum on September 25, 2018 Music Background: Songwriter

This is a guitar you will want to give a name, that will be a member of your family, you'll like to talk to her, introduce her to your friends (and definitely want to use "her" pronoun). It's such a character. It sounds perfect for arpeggios and light strumming. Higher strings sound like rain. The sustain is amazing and creates a unique acoustic sound. Bass response is weaker than I expected (especially compared to a spruce top guitar), but I hope it will get better in time. And it look so good that you can watch her for hours.

Very Fine Guitar

By Kelly B. from Seattle, WA. on January 9, 2014 Music Background: Played in a band as a youngster now just a hobbie

I sold a 000-15 8 years ago and have always regretted that move. I loved the airiness if you will, of the triple 0 Mahogany body. I never liked the large dot inlays on the fretboard and the sealed tuners of my 000-15, so I seriously considered making some alterations to it but never got a round to it. When this new 000-15M came out I noticed the smaller inlays and the open geared tuners and knew I had to have it. It's twice the price of my original, but Sweetwater had a great financing deal going so I pulled the trigger. Plays and sounds great, just like I remember. The only con was quickly remedied: One of the inlays was very poorly done and looked like more filler than inlay was showing. I contacted Martin Guitar directly and e-mailed customer service a photo of the inlay in question. They agreed and sent out a new inlay to the local Martin Repair Facility (Dusty Strings) and it was installed within days. Looks great now! I'm a long time Sweetwater customer who has ordered guitars from them before. I have also placed orders online at night and cancelled the order the next morning because of buyers remorse, and they have always been kind and understanding. Thanks guys and gals, good job!

Great Vintage Vibe

By Robert Schlotter from Indiana on February 10, 2012 Music Background: Collector & Hobbyist

This is a GREAT guitar for the money, you sure can rely on Martin to put out great quality instruments. You can feel that "old school" in this guitar with the vintage appointments. A very simple guitar with alot of vintage vibe. It has a great sound right out of the box, but in time it will only get better. It has a very comfortable playing satin finish neck. The only thing that keeps it from a 5 star rating is the finish. I would prefer the glossy nitro finish. It is well worth the price you pay for it. I would HIGHLY recommend this guitar to both flatpickers and fingerstyle style players. You can not go wrong with a Martin.

My new favorite guitar!

By Jared from Indiana on September 14, 2023

Didn't take long to fall in love with the sound and feel of the Martin 000-15m. The smaller mahogany body projects rich full tone, both warm and bright, and the neck is comfortable to play. High quality materials and craftsmanship at mid-range price, makes this guitar a great choice.

The guitar that thought it was a violin

By BillyBoyFloyd from Alaska on February 11, 2016 Music Background: 35 years+ amateur picker

I did not buy mine through Sweetwater, but a San Jose CA shop, name omitted, that I lived near for many years. A special order, it came to me pretty much as shipped by Martin and was untouched by the dealer.

I thought I understood "setup" on a guitar, but I leaned so much more studying the factory setup this came with. It was precision clinical clean. I've taken about 1/2mm off the saddle height for personal taste, that is it.

These are "handmade" in America, but clearly mass-made using templates and pattern lathe style automation.

This is my main strummer, my little martin that thinks it is a violin.

I bought this specifically because I was tired of the metallic bright brilliance of spruce tops with new barely broke in phosphor bronze strings. I seldom touch any other of my acoustic guitars now.

I now play with fairly old, dull strings, picking right at or above the soundhole, fingerstyle, and I LOVE IT.

You get a very warm deep tone that it the exact opposite of those ringy bright shiny sounding spruce tops. If I strum the low strings super hard with my thumb, I get a growl that is almost like an electric, neck pickup with a little low end overdrive distortion.

This is my favorite neck of all my guitars, electric or acoustic; it is the only one I've owned with a true satin finish. I'll never respect any sticky, grabby gloss finished neck again.

Sustain is not as great as a spruce top. Volume is not as loud either; this is not a dreadnought, though Martin makes one in the 15M line.

The plain satin finish and unbound body will bother you at first, but after a year or so, all other guitars will look over-finished and over glossed; the satin finish plain-jane look you will grow to love.

Second best money I've ever spent on 6 strings, and the best I've spent in 36 years. This includes Gibson, Fender, Yamaha, Takamine, Ovation, more (never had a "custom" guitar, all my guitars are under $2K USD in cost).
