Phil Nass
Music has been huge for me ever since I was a child. I started playing drums when I was 10 and from there it just took off, and my passion continued to grow the older I got. I pursued a degree in music theory and composition, before eventually switching over to music production at Full Sail. While there I learned so much about how various different audio workstations work and how to bring music to life, it also helped inform me so I could make better decisions on the gear that I have acquired for my own studio. Since coming to Sweetwater my passion for gear and music as a whole has been bolstered, and I enjoy learning about all of the latest and greatest things to hit the scene. Really there is no better place to be, and I really am looking forward to helping customers make their musical dreams become reality.
As your personal contact here at Sweetwater, please let me know anytime I can offer help or advice.

Why did you first apply for a job at Sweetwater?
I love music gear, and there is no where better in this industry to be than at Sweetwater providing the same great experience to customers that my sales engineer did for me.

Technical strengths:
I am well versed in several digital audio workstations, primarily using Ableton and Logic Pro. I also know my way around a drum set very well and am quite familiar with audio interfaces and microphones.
-
Instruments you play:
I started playing drums when I was 10. I also played a little bit of mallet percussion when I was going to school for theory and composition, most of that was Timpani, which was a lot of fun.

Gear you own:
I have quite a few microphones including an AKG C414XLII and a pair of AKG P170's, as well as a Steinberg UR-RT4 audio interface. I also have an M-Audio Hammer 88 and a pair of KRK Rokit 5's on top of a drum set outfitted with Paiste and Meinl cymbals.

Other stuff we should know about you (hobbies, talents, interests, etc.):
On top of everything music I do also enjoy a good video game, I have really been enjoying playing through Dark Souls. I also DJ from time to time using many of the Native Instruments products.

Real-life hero:
The man who got me into drums is Joey Jordison, may he Rest In Peace, and also my drum teacher from when I was a wee lad. I wouldn't be where I am today without his influence.
-
Guilty pleasure of choice:
As much as I hate to admit it, I actually really enjoy listening to Kpop. There is such a wide variety of styles I think there is something out there for everyone if they are willing to explore.
