Chris Goldbach
Chris Goldbach
My name is Chris Goldbach. I received my first set of drums in 1981. Later that year, I purchased my first guitar, a beat-up Fender Musicmaster. In the mid-’80s, I realized that I could use my father’s old cassette deck to record my drums with a set of headphones plugged into the microphone jack and then play back my guitar with the recording. I got into the underground music scene in the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale area in the mid-’80s, frequenting all the ’80s punk shows such as Black Flag, Bad Brains, Gang Green, etc. I started recording my band and friends’ bands throughout the late ’80s with a 4-track recorder. Then I stepped up to a TASCAM 388, ADATs, Otari MX5050, and MCI JH-110 and JH-24 tape machines. I got my first Pro Tools setup in 2000 by selling an old Honda motorcycle.
I have been in a zillion bands around South FL, such as Against All Authority, RadioBaghdad, Irish Car Bomb, and the Shakers. I also spent most of the 1990s and early 2000s touring the US, Europe, and Canada. I was in a band called Collapsing Lungs in the early ’90s that was signed to Atlantic Records, so I got a chance to see the major-label side of the business as well as the indie DIY side with my other bands. I was fortunate to land a career with Sweetwater this year and am more than happy to be here. I currently play guitar and sing in Spicoli Culkin, Play drums for Tijuana Tsunamis and still do fly dates for Against All Authority.
As your personal contact here at Sweetwater, please let me know anytime I can offer help or advice.
