Brad Jones
Brad Jones
I’ve been a professional bassist for over 25 years, primarily a studio bassist, both in Nashville and Sweetwater’s commercial studio. I’ve also toured all over the country, have played in a couple of terrific local/regional bands, and have been the principal bassist at my church for over 20 years. I understand the needs of touring musicians, studio musicians, and house-of-worship musicians well and the similarities and differences between their gear needs.
Away from the music, I’m an active outdoorsman, usually involving my beloved Brittany Rusty, who is named after my maternal grandfather. More importantly, I’ve been married for 25 years and have one daughter who has four kids with her husband. We also were foster parents to over 30 kids over 20 years, and several of them and their children still have contact with us.
As your personal contact here at Sweetwater, please let me know anytime I can offer help or advice.

Favorite music-related website:
Besides Sweetwater, TalkBass.com is fantastic.
-

Family info:
Married for 25+ years to Amy; one daughter, Ashleigh; son-in-law, Tyler; four grandkids, three boys and a girl (Papa’s Little Princess). We also foster parented for almost 20 years and have one of our former kids who we remain particularly close to. Her two kids also call us grandma and grandpa. My parents have an apartment in our house, as well, and we will be their caregivers as necessary in the future.

Other stuff we should know about you (hobbies, talents, interests, etc.):
If I’m not playing music, then I’m most likely outdoors doing something. Hunting, fishing, kayaking, camping, training my bird dog, or just enjoying the weather, whatever it is. I’m also a giant theology nerd — mostly, I read old dead guys. I’m active at my church besides just playing on the worship team.

What in your background prepared you most to help your customers with their audio needs?
I've spent years on stage as a working musician and can help Front of House and Monitor engineers understand their musician's needs while also being extremely knowledgeable about the technical side of pro audio.
-
What's the biggest gig you've ever played?
Every Sunday at my church is bigger than any club gig I’ve ever played (over 2,000 per Sunday). I’ve opened for Edwin McCain, who was completely awesome. His whole band was great. That’s probably the most recognizable name.

Who are some of the notable artists you've worked with?
Sunny Taylor, who is legendary in the Fort Wayne area. I also played bass on the tracks when my brother Greg won Sweetwater’s first songwriter contest (before I worked here). I’ve done some remote recording to overdub bass parts on other people’s songs, but I’m not credited on those, and I’m sworn to secrecy.
