Hello! My name is Ashton Vaudt, and I hail from Virginia Beach, Virginia. I’m excited to be a part of Sweetwater’s excellent sales team! I bring a unique focus to the company, given my particular background and experience in this confusing world of audio and recording. I love to learn about any new gear, instruments, or software that my customers and I both would like to one day have in our own studios. As a result, you can be confident that I will be your go-to Sales Engineer for just about any question you have regarding your next purchase.

I have the best wife, Meg, that any man can ask for. I also have just the NICEST (maybe) teenage stepdaughter, Taylor, and 2-yo son Jackson.

Other stuff we should know about you (hobbies, talents, interests, etc.):
First on my list besides gear and music, I LOVE hockey. Any time there’s a chance to either play or watch, you can count on me being there. It’s such a fast-paced game that always makes for exciting moments.
Besides that, I love learning anything that I can about any given topic. The most recent obsession is American history from the Revolution on through the Civil War. I truly believe in recording the events that shaped our country. That way, we can remember the good parts and learn from the not-so-good parts so that we don’t repeat those mistakes. -
Real-life hero:
Joe Satriani. Not only is Joe an amazing guitarist and songwriter, but also he’s such a down-to-earth person. I’ve met him personally and had the opportunity to have a Q+A with him, and it was amazing to see how humble he is despite the rock status that he’s achieved.

What did you dream about doing for a living when you were growing up?
I dreamed about being a performing guitarist once I started learning and writing my own material. I’d grown up in church choirs, so performing in front of audiences was never frightening for me. I loved theater during high school and joined the ranks of the International Thespian Society because each time on the stage was a thrill. The thought of rocking out with guitar in hand in front of thousands of people got me really excited. I’m still working on it!

What in your background prepared you most to help your customers with their audio needs?
I love to learn about all sorts of gear, and this passion for learning helps me to make certain that my customers are getting the right gear the first time, every time. When my customers call me, they know they are getting a vast wealth of information when they need guidance in purchasing their next item.
I also love to hook up systems and troubleshoot because there’s such great satisfaction in seeing an entire system work and knowing that I made it happen. That being said, I am more than capable of walking my customers through a setup to make sure that their systems work, as well. -
