AJ Becerra
Hi! My name is AJ Becerra, and I have been with Sweetwater since 2006. I take great pride in what I do, and my experience in the studio and onstage will help with any questions you might have. I’ve been very active in the music community and still play live every chance I get. When I’m not playing, you’ll find me in the studio recording and producing bands, and that is an absolute blast for me and where my passion lies. There is something to be said about taking an idea and molding it into something beautiful via the tracking, mixing, and mastering process.
My background in music varies. I’ve been a studio and performing rock drummer for many years, but I’ve toured as a symphonic percussionist, as well. On the studio side of things, I’ve tried, used, or owned about every high-end piece of equipment out there. Thankfully, I have a wife that understands my gear addiction and is OK with it. It could be worse, right?
I have worked very hard to make sure all my experiences in the studio and live environment will help you in your music endeavors.

Technical strengths:
High-end studio gear, Pro Tools, recording/mixing, system design, live sound

Gear you own:
Recording: A couple setups...1 rig is Pro Tools Ultimate, Apogee Symphony I/O, 192io, Mac Pro with tons of software/VIs, lots of analog outboard gear (I’m a Chandler junkie), Avid mixing control surfaces, various high-end mics. The other is a Universal Audio Apollo system
Instruments: Pearl 7-piece Master series drum kit, a few different electric and acoustic guitars, and amps -
Other stuff we should know about you (hobbies, talents, interests, etc.):
I LOVE American muscle cars and cooking. I’ve built a high-horsepower Camaro from the ground up and am now working to make a newly acquired C6 Corvette reach 1,000 horsepower. Also, I am planning to bottle and sell my homemade barbecue sauce in the future. On the music side of things, I’m an endorsed Pearl drum artist.

What's the biggest gig you've ever played?
I’m not sure of the final count, but it was upward of 8,000 people at an outdoor venue a couple years ago called “Rage on the River.” That day, we played with Nonpoint, Sick Puppies, Downstait, Powerman 5000, Halestorm, Redlight King, and All That Remains. Hands down, the best time I’ve ever had playing a show. See photo above, I took that picture right before we went on.
