What Are Active Monitors, and Are They Right for Me?
Studio monitors come in two main types: active (powered) and passive (unpowered). Active monitors combine drivers, amplifiers, and crossovers into a single enclosure to save space and simplify setup. You can roughly correlate increased speaker size with increased bass response.
