Access Music, the company that developed the wildly popular Virus TI synthesizer series, has announced that it has released OS 2.7 after what has been an extensive public beta test. The new version, which is compatible with the entire Virus TI range (including the new Virus TI Snow) is a milestone in the company’s long history of offering free operating system updates to Virus TI owners.
Among the newest features are Atomizer (which is a real-time glitch- and looper effect), a third USB bus to transfer more discrete audio channels between the synth and a computer and support for multiple devices. It also adds Virus Control Center, a Mac/Windows application that can backup and restore the memory contents of the entire synth and overwrite the ROM banks with new sounds. A detailed list of all the refinements, enhancements, and bug fixes can be found on the download page.
