How Close to Mount the Fishman TriplePlay?

Q: How close does the hexaphonic pickup in a Fishman TriplePlay system have to be to the strings of the guitar to work well?

A: Fishman recommends getting the pickup to within one millimeter of the strings for best performance. A “gauge” is included in the package; slide it between the strings and the pickup to see if you are in the ballpark. The TriplePlay includes several different sizes of mounts that will get the pickup close, then there are two tiny adjustment screws on the end of pickup that can be used to fine tune the height. (A tiny screwdriver is included for adjusting these.)

You should also place the pickup as close to the guitar’s bridge as possible. If you’re guitar has a Strat-style vibrato tailpiece, be sure to leave room for the bridge to rotate without pressing against the pickup.
