Power and Flexibility

With 500 Series racks, it's all about power - and flexibility. The Purple Audio Sweet Ten chassis lets you mount ten modules and gives you the flexibility of two ins and two outs per slot - which lets you take advantage of modules such as Purple Audio's Moiyn mixer (in which the the second input allows for stereo balanced source injection). The Sweet Ten gives you the advantage of a battle-tested switching power supply that runs cool and meets or exceeds the current needs of the modules in the rack. Get optimized power and flexibility, with the Purple Audio Sweet Ten.

The 500 Series rack - built right

Sweetwater knows that, in theory, linear power supplies may be ideal for audio - however, in a ten-module chassis, they can generate unwelcome hum and heat. Purple Audio's Sweet Ten, on the other hand, employs a switching supply that runs cool and meets or exceeds the current needs of the modules in your rack, ensuring that they perform and sound their best. The Sweet Ten's top, side, and back panels are made of cold-rolled steel for improved grounding and shielding, while its motherboard sports frequency bypass capacitors at each slot to improve filtering, especially for modules with DC/DC converters.

Fabulous flexibility built in

The Purple Audio Sweet Ten is more than just a rack to house your 500 Series modules. Slot nine, for instance, is a special slot designed to accept Purple's optional Moiyn 82 mixer module, essentially turning the Sweet Ten into an 8 x 2 summing mixer - letting you not only track with modules, but easily add equalizers, compressors, or other devices during mixdown. The Sweet Ten can also accept the optional Purple Audio Cans headphone amp, making it a viable substitute for a small-format mixer. On the back panel is a third row of XLRs. Each channel's second XLR gives you the option of running modules either split or linked to one another. That's serious flexibility.

Reviews

Theeee Lunch Box
I have previously owned the mc77 from purple audio and it was by far my favorite compressor in the rack. The metering was superb and the build quality was amazing. It was honestly miles ahead of our 4 grand Pendulum ES8 (I know different animals but talking build quality ), functionality and build , so I had to get the Sweet 10 for our studio when we decided to go 500!

I have heard stories from different third parties either not fitting or needing separate soldering modifications , to use whatever module in their 500 lunchbox. Long story short the Pultec EQPx fits snugly in there and runs smooth as butter, that's a separate review .

I'm particularly excited about incorporating the Moyin Summing module to the mix once we fill up slots 1-7 and probably throw the Cans on slot 10 or 9, whatever the proper method is.

On top of the advanced power techniques the grounding is also solid as can be. There is no hum or any hint of buzzing when being patched in any part of the signal chain, live or during mixing. I know that is a tad petty sounding but Andrew covered about every base possible when designing this bad boy! We plan on buying a total of 3 more within the next 24 months and will definitely show off the complete Purple Console sporting this here first sweet ten on the top !!!!!

10 years plus and no issues
I have had many racks in and out of my studio and the only one that hasn't had to be services or has never messed with any modules is this Purple Sweet 10. I wish they made a lunch box.

So far, so good!
I have only had this a few weeks but it has worked flawlessly thus far. I replaced a 6 slot API Lunchbox as I needed more space. It has powered up 8 cards with no noticeable issues. Seems well built and the handles on the front are nice when moving it and loading it into a rack. I wanted a rack with an internal power supply (like the API) but was a little worried about possible noise. No issues at all although slots 9 and 10, the ones closest to the PS are currently empty. I was deciding between this and the one by Heritage Audio (which looks great as well) as I wanted a host with a power switch on the front panel. It was basically a coin flip for me but went with the Purple based on a few recommendations including one from sales engineer Brian Loney. Loving it so far!

Power supply failed at live concert.
Would not recommend for live use. Power supply died at concert after only 6 months use. Power supply is made by third party and not Purple Audio. Tried to put my review up on Purple Audio before and it was not posted so I had to come to Sweetwater instead.
