Picked this up recently from Nick at Sweetwater. All I can say is oh my. I'm 53 yrs old and been in music my whole life. My favorite mixer of all time haha down. So useable. Everything I need in a mixer. Bright, warm, clean and easy on the ears. Love it!

Soundcraft Signature 12 with effects

This is a great mixer especially for the price. I love being able to run extra speakers other than just the mains, it"s nice to have options to run your monitors through the monitor outs and 3 aux channels. The effects are a nice touch. It"s nice to not have to always run dry. And there"s a low cut which is also a great step up from the EPM8 that I used before purchasing this.

Great Mixer for Live Music

This Soundcraft mixer review is for live music, not DAW.

First off, why there isn't a power on switch on the Soundcraft Signature Mixer is for protecting your speakers in live show situations. Often, beginners damage their speakers and monitors by switching the mixer off or on while the main powered speakers are still on. It's a safety precaution, one that I applaud from the engineers at Soundcraft. I upgraded to this unit from a Yamaha MGP16x, my thoughts- first the Soundcraft has a way easier layout for routing and mixing live, the faders are larger, and the EQ is way more accurate. The Yamaha suffered from low headroom on the mic pre which always landed us in trouble with live clipping during shows. The Soundcraft Sig 12 has two features that help with a higher headroom. First, in the larger fader and second a limiter on the first 2 channels for your worst live situation high headroom peak limiting. The Yamaha had very small faders and eq buttons making it hard to dial in a decent sound, basically for the player/soundman, the Soundcraft is just easier because the dials / faders are larger and easier to see and move. Sonically, The Soundcraft has a beautiful live sound, the built-in Sapphire EQ is pleasant and full. My complaint is the onboard effects, there is only really one- You may have reverb, or delay but not at the same time. Yes, there is a Reverb/Delay effect, but it is a joke, just a big reverb with a fast delay that sounds bad no matter where you place it. The Yamaha SPX Dual effects was clearly better. I think Soundcraft could have the dual Effect processor on all the Signature series mixers, after all they offer it on the Signature 22, as a bonus for buying the largest mixer in the series. After checking out Yamahas newer MG16X line, (Which I didn't own) Yamaha has scaled back to a single SPX effect engine, not dual, So even Yamaha cut this area. Oh Well. In my opinion, every vocalist wants both a bit of reverb, and a bit of delay on the vocal. Thanks.

Soundcraft Signature 12 mixer

Just received the Soundcraft 12 and I must say it is awesome. Very compact yet the most versatile board I've ever owned. It's routing capability is second to none that I've experienced and the Lexicon FX section is a real added bonus. I use it for doing a single show as well as a duo, but it could easily handle a band. It is misleading in that 4 of the inputs are designated stereo leaving 8 actual mono inputs for mics and instruments. I'm still exploring all the options, but so far I'm really impressed. Also it's the first time I've owned a Soundcraft and that's pretty cool as well.
