A great fretless bass value

I needed a "starter" fretless five string bass. I have never played fretless, however, will come into possession of a very expensive fretless sometime in the next year and thought I should get started. I restrung the bass with tape wound strings and am very pleased with the tone, how great the neck feels, and ease of play. As with nearly every bass I have purchased, a setup by someone who knows what they are doing is essential for optimal sound. That was true with this bass as there was significant string "clack" at the end of the fingerboard, pick-up in-balance, and a minor fret marker blemish that needed repair. I consider this normal and always include the luthier fee in my calculation of instrument cost. I was offered this service by Alex, but have a pro living near by, so chose not to avail myself of the service. As usual, the bass arrived promptly and well protected. Thanks Alex.

Amazing bass

I found out the hard way why this bass sells out so fast. I talked to my guy, and they got 7 in. With in a week and a half, they are gone. I was one of the lucky ones that nabbed one. Once I got it, I oiled the fretboard, I put on flat wound sting, and did some minor adjustments and the bass was ready to go. It is a little dark when everything is at 12 o'clock, but it was easy to fix. This is a big plus for this bass. I was up on stage with the engineer and we just used the preamp that was on the bass to fine tune the tone. It was stupid easy and found what we were looking for fast. I did nothing with my pedals to shape my tone. It was perfect. Also the tone cut thru the mix. I was not only felt but heard! The neck is smooth and easy to play with my small hands. The body is comfortable both standing and sitting. Putting on new stings took 10 minutes while I was working. So if this bass is available, get it. Don't think, buy it.

Amazing versatility and value

I'm a long-time professional bass player, but this is my first fretless. This SR375E turned out to be a great choice. The pickups are excellent, the three EQ knobs have just the right center frequencies for basic control. The coil selections are all three very usable. The most impressive thing is that almost any setting sounds good.

The weight and balance are super comfortable for me. The neck geometry is really nice. I was perfectly happy to have a lined fretless neck, both to guide me as I get the hang of it, but also for teaching-- so my students can see "frets".

For this transaction, there was a quality control issue, and an understandable wait (for new stock to arrive). The Sweetwater team gave me options, and resolved everything very efficiently. Now I'm VERY happy with the replacement bass.

Great Instrument

The SR 375E looks and sounds great. This is my first fretless so there is a learning curve, however, I am getting the hang of it. I love the fretless sound. I'm very happy with my purchase.

I use it primarily with our church band and jam sessions. I'm not a professional, however, I've been playing since I was a teen and have had a lot of bass guitars along the way. This one is a keeper.

Great bass for the price!

I've been wanting an electric fretless for a while now and finally bit the bullet, ordered it, and was playing it two days later. It's got great tone and volume, and the 55 point setup was excellent. The only change I made was replacing the factory-installed round wound strings with some flat wounds (there were already some grooves in the fingerboard from the strings).

My only complaint is that the edges of the fingerboard need to be rounded over a little more than they are (I'm not sure if I'm ready to try that myself as it will need to have the finish touched up at that point).

I played it at church this weekend, and everyone said it sounded great!
