M-Audio SBX10 ReviewsSweetwater Advice
Carson McClain
The M-Audio SBX-10 is absolutely ideal for the home studio producer who enjoys hearing bass with his tracks. This caliber of subwoofer is perfect for electronic, hip hop, and rock for the home studio.
Customer Reviewsfrom India December 19, 2009 Music Background: Pro Musician & Sound Engineer Awesome Subwoofer for the Price. Thumbs up M-AudioGreat Subwoofer for the price. Very tight, accurate, & heart thumping bass. But wait, to get the perfect output from this monster, you have to set up the Crossover Frequencies, Gain & Most Importantly the Subwoofer Placement in the Room to avoid Standing waves. If not placed properly, it will sound like a Low Freq Mud and you people will curse M-Audio. Take care of the Crossover Frequency level to match your main monitors accurately, so that no Hole is left in the freq spectrum. If all parameters set nicely, This thing will Blow you off ! However, Noobs need to work a little hard getting all the parameters correct. All the Best.. from Houston, TX USA January 17, 2012 Music Background: Song Writer, Padawan Learner, Hobbyist, Producer Just What I NeededThis is just what the doctor ordered and I couldn't be more pleased. I managed to find just the right spot in my lair to accommodate this piece and maintain a good sound. Location matters, real life! The sound is heavy and has made a large difference in how I approach my mixing and projects in general. Thanks again SW.from Kansas City, USA December 28, 2009 Music Background: Recording, Live Sound, Musician (keyboards) SBX10 Subwoofer Specs need M-Audio ReviewThe SBX10 subwoofer owner manual / sales specifications are incomplete or deceptive ?The specifications are written with omissions that should be addressed. The Frequency response is listed as (-3db) . This is meaningless without a (+db) to establish the range of error. Example: (-3db, +15db) would be very poor whereas (-3db, +0db) would be good but not perfect. The SBX10 THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) is listed as 0.019%. This is obviously not including the speaker and can only be left to the assumption that it is measured at the internal amp output. A good THD for the unit would be 5%. However in it's price range up to 10% would be expected. Though this could even be low if M-Audio is afraid to post it . The unit is rated at 240 watts into 4 ohms. Seems like it's predecessor the BX10 was rated 240 watts into 8 ohms. Mathmatically the new SBX10 is approximately 30% less powerful but is "coincidentally" labled with the same wattage. All I want is good honest complete specs from M-Audio who figured out how to put a heavier magnet in a speaker cabinet that weighs less than it's BX10 and lowered the power to achieve better audio through a 4 ohm speaker. |
