Find Your Way with This Ultra-high-performance Les Paul

When Alex Lifeson of legendary prog-rock stalwarts Rush envisaged his signature Les Paul, his foremost goal was to design a unique instrument with highly customized features to tackle any stage or studio scenario. The result is a 6-string as idiosyncratic as Lerxst himself: the Epiphone Les Paul Custom Axcess. Right out of the gate, a set of comfortable contours on the mahogany body and a recessed Floyd Rose 1000-series tremolo prove this is no ordinary Les Paul. And while it’s sure to enrapture your audience’s eyes while you’re in the limelight, don’t let the exquisite AAAA quilt maple veneer top fool you — this Les Paul’s comfortable “Rounded” neck profile, 12-inch radius ebony fingerboard, Grover Rotomatic tuners, and carved neck heel give you a stag-ready feel and effortless playability fit for the working man (or woman!). Whether you’re a certifiable Rush fanatic or you’re simply seeking a do-it-all stage and studio instrument, Sweetwater guitarists agree: the Epiphone Alex Lifeson Les Paul Custom Axcess is the epitome of Epiphone excellence.

Comfortably contoured body and neck heel

The Alex Lifeson Les Paul Custom Axcess harnesses Alex’s half-century-or-so of touring and recording experience to craft an instrument that’s supremely playable, aesthetically appealing, and exceptionally comfortable all at once. A key component of this formula is the mahogany body’s belly carve — a feature not often found on the Les Paul’s traditional slab-back body. In addition, this guitar’s neck heel sports a carved contour that allows your hand to slide right past the body joint with ease, making it a breeze to reach all 22 frets. Finally, a AAAA quilt maple veneer, multi-ply body binding, and a charming ruby red stain finish complete the package with stunning visuals to match this guitar’s superlative performance.

2112 tones to choose from

From album to album, song to song, and even bar to bar, Alex Lifeson’s idiosyncratic 6-string style is no stranger to drastic shifts in tone and timbre. The Epiphone Alex Lifeson Les Paul Custom Axcess is fine-tuned from the ground up to cover Alex’s entire sonic range in a single instrument, and the key lies in this guitar’s Epiphone humbuckers and an extensive switching system. First, the neck-position Epiphone Ceramic Pro humbucker grants you a clear, cutting, and high-output push perfect for capturing Alex’s clean-and-compressed arpeggios, with ample clarity even with heavy effect layering. Looking for something with a little more bite? The Epiphone ProBucker 3 pickup in the bridge kicks out a snarling, vintage-flavored tone that’s just the thing when it comes time to lay down crunchy and distorted riffage. Lastly, dedicated push-pull coil-splits are available for each humbucker to achieve sharp single-coil-style sounds, and you also get a push-pull phase switch for raunchy out-of-phase attitude.

Expressive Floyd Rose 1000 Series tremolo

While it’s a distinctive instrument, the Alex Lifeson Les Paul Custom Axcess's biggest departure from the traditional Les Paul formula is its Floyd Rose 1000 Series tremolo. It’s just the thing to impart your playing with an expressive, personal feel, offering a seriously flexible range pitch, incredible smooth action, and ultra-stable tuning reliability. Moreover, this Floyd Rose’s recessed cavity allows upward and downward trem usage for nearly unlimited pitch-shifting possibilities!

Epiphone Alex Lifeson Les Paul Custom Axcess Electric Guitar Features:

  • Signature 6-string of legendary prog-rock guitarist Alex Lifeson of Rush
  • Contoured mahogany body for enhanced comfort
  • Gorgeous AAAA quilt maple veneer top is sure to catch the eyes of any audience

I love it

What am I gonna say about this guitar? If you're like me and have always wanted a Les Paul with a Floyd Rose without paying $, then this is a great alternative. Sure, ESP makes LP style guitars with a FR, but… it's still not a Les Paul. With that said, this guitar feels and plays like a LP. The pickups are quality and deliver tones you would expect in this signature offering. If what I'm describing is what you've been looking for then give this guitar a shot.
On the negative side, the guitar was not set up properly from the Epiphone factory. It's a shame that Sweetwater doesn't do some in house set ups to make sure you're getting what you pay for. I know my way around a FR so it didn't take long to dial it in. The action was way too high for my taste. Once I got all of the things I didn't like corrected….'MAGIC! I don't care about the lack of piezo. This guitar is great. The push/pull coil tap works well and the "out of phase" option makes up for the piezo. Overall solid Les Paul!

Amazing guitar

For what this guitar is, it's amazing. It's sounds and plays fantastic, the FR tremelo is on point, the PUPS, the finish, litteraly have nothing bad to say. Anyone talking bad on this guitar probably is mad that an 'epiphone' is costing more than $ not realizing that epiphone also sells high end instruments. Thus deffinetly being at the top of the food chain as far as quality. I actually traded my first one because of a great deal I got and immediately bought another from Sweetwater. Can't wait to get it in!

An Swiss Knife Turned Into a Guitar

The Epiphone Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess Guitar is the best guitar I ever had. The guitar is a lovely monster of tonal possibilities, and when playing bluesy and clean tones, it amazingly delivers! When playing Blues, I always found that the Fender Stratocaster was the Pinnacle in that aspect, but I do not know what Epiphone did with this gem that it actually delivers in that venue. Now in my live presentations, I no longer need to switch from one guitar to another in order to come close to the tones I'm looking for and be able to achieve the same sounds I'm trying to faithfully replicate that are needed to do justice to the covers I'm performing in my live sets. With the Epiphone Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess, I can do that and more; the instrument is a Swiss Knife of tonal options and possibilities. I have a Gibson Les Paul Studio far more expensive than the Alex Lifeson's guitar, and to be clear and certainly honest, the Epiphone Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess, mops the floor with the Gibson guitar.

Many Thanks to My Awesome Sales Engineer, Mr. Logan Miller. Logan is a Professional that pours his heart and soul towards everything he does that always provides me with the best customer service ever. Logan, Once Again thank you so much for making sure that my gear arrives in perfect shape and according to my specs, everything you do, is truly appreciated.

The second coming was all you could expect it to be and then some!!!

This guitar is absolutely stunning! It played second fiddle to a 57 Custom Shop Gibson Black Beauty Sweetwater had on hand. My son and I played many guitars on our visit and this Epiphone was 2nd only to that Black Beauty!
The Floyd is practically flawless. EVH Floyd's aren't nearly as reliable. The tonal options are incredible and since I'm a beck pick up kind of player, this thing is a powerhouse with regards to that Epiphone Ceramic Pro! Couldn't be happier!
Now I need to find it's older brother to have the pair!
Thank you everyone at Sweetwater for all the help!

Quality guitar

The Alex Lifeson Ruby Custom Axcess by Epiphone is an outstanding & well crafted guitar. I'm glad I didn't hesitate to order this one and thanks as always to my sales rep David Warham for having it shipped the same day.
It arrived in perfect condition and ready to play after a quick tune up. The action was perfect for me & no string buzz or flaws whatsoever. The neck is smooth and fast it actually feels like it's been plek'd. The cutaway at the neck is a unique & very nice feature to this guitar. The gold plated hardware with a Floyd Rose Trem & high quality pickups make this a visually and sonic guitar at an excellent price point.
Music background: Playing for 6 years
