huge improvement over prior version

I own three Spider V MKII amps (120, 120 and 240) that I use in my actively gigging band. I also have a FB2 foot switch and an FBV3 and an FBV3 Pro (this one). So I am very familiar and really know these products inside-out.

My prior FBV3 had a problem where it would lose the foot pedal calibration setting, especially if the unit got hot (like in an outdoor summer gig).

After a global supply chain chip shortage delay, I just received my new FBV3 Pro.

The first thing I noticed is that the new design is bigger than the old FBV3. It feels more solid and substantial.
The footswitches have a different feel to them - they've obviously been totally redesigned. They don't have the traditional foot-pedal switch feel to them. The old ones had the familiar old heavy CLICK feel when you switched them. These new ones have a much softer click feel to them, but don't misunderstand that - they are not wimpy - they feel just as solid, just more precise and sensitive to the touch.

The pedal is completely different and better. The toe switcn is very responsive and easy to use. The old design was hard to use and you really had to mash the toe to switch between modes. This one works perfectly, making it very easy to switch.

The display is so much better, its hard to describe. The old display panel was hard to read and dim. This new one can be read from across the room in total darkness - its fantastic.

The different colored switch rings are a nice touch and it makes it easier to tell which effect is activated (for example, orange is distortion, green is delay, etc.).

Also the PC remote control app recognizes the new FBV3 and numbers the effects pedals so you know which switch is controlling it.

The only two things I don't love:

The colored lights are dim when off (so you can find them on a dark stage) and then bright when on. The dim is too bright and its hard to tell if some are on or off.

In the app, the compressor is always foot switch #1, but all my presets (from Line6) have the compressor in position two so they arent in order on my board. I can adapt but I wish I could move them around

Line 6FBV3

This floorboard makes switching between channels and effects super easy including the looper that is built in on the amp. This thing is built like a tank, It is super durable and strong, and I would recommend this to anybody that has a line 6 head or amp.

Line6 pedal board

Got this to go with the line six amp I got and love this pedal board esp the wha pedal parts. It does make accessing the effects in the amp easier to use while playing would definitely recommend this.

FBV 3 with Native Instruments Guitar Rig

I use the Line 6 FBV 3 with the newest version of Guitar Rig 7 as of January 2024 on a MacBook Pro with an M1 Max Chip and it works perfectly. I got the FBV 3 because Line 6 is really good about updating their firmware and drivers to work with newer hardware and operating systems, and I wasn't disappointed! I use the Line 6 FBV Control software to configure the FBV 3 buttons, volume pedal, and external pedal to the midi messages I want them to send and then it is super easy to map them to the various parameters in Guitar Rig. Just right click on any parameter in Guitar Rig, clear out any existing mappings or macros, then hit the Midi Learn button and then press the button or volume pedal on the FBV 3, and it works great! Also, it has a USB port on it (USB A, I use a USB A to USB C adapter for the MacBook), as opposed to having to use old school 5 pin Midi cables like you have to with the Behringer FCB 1010. The FBV 3 is solidly built and worth the higher price tag.

Absolutely worth it!

I bought this to extend the functionality of my Spider V 240, and the addition of this board makes accessing the amp's features easier. It's built like a tank and lights up like a Christmas tree. Between this pedal and the Spider amp application, managing the app effects (and the looper) is a much nicer workflow.

My only real regret was waiting so long to pick one up.
