The Legendary Silver Jubilee Tube Amp Returns!

In 1987, Marshall celebrated 25 years of amp building with their original Silver Jubilee Series, catching the attention of guitarists such as the up-and-coming Slash, and then disappearing just a year later. This 2555X Silver Jubilee reissue brings back Marshall's highly-coveted 2-channel, 100-watt head with all the vibe and look of the original plus a smattering of cool improvements. Like its predecessors, the 2555X includes high- and low-output switching. If you've ever heard a 100-watt Marshall at full roar, you'll appreciate how this feature lets the 2555X sing at both arena and club levels. This edition also gives you even lower noise performance and improved reliability.

Add the perfect cab to your Sliver Jubilee amp!

Whether you've been chasing down a Silver Jubilee amp for years or you just want to satisfy your craving for genuine Marshall tone at its best, you'll love this 2555X Silver Jubilee reissue head. Multiple speaker jacks let you easily match this head up with your favorite cabinet, and it plays well with a wide range of cabinets. Of course, if you're a purist, then you'll want to grab a matching cab or two to go with your 2555X. Lucky for you, Sweetwater also carries the slanted 2551AV and the straight 2551BV extension cabinets, which come decked out in matching silver vinyl.

It’s a JCM 800, what’s not to like!

Awesome amp, classic Marshall sound, only thing I wish it had? Old spring reverb.

Beast

I bought this amp about 6 months ago in 2020. I thought i was buying a high gain amp, well its really not high gain. I was a little let down. I haven't owned a Marshall since the 1990's when i had 2 JCM 900 heads and they had more gain. If you want lots of gain buy a JVM.

I mostly run this amp in half power mode which is 50 watt triode mode. Triode mode is warmer sounding to my ears. You can use the rhythm clip mode and will give you more gain but to me it's useless because it thins out the sound of the amp which is otherwise FAT...

Im using this amp with a Universal Audio OX which is stellar by the way. I didn't like the tone at first but then i did a bias. The amp was set cold at 60.I looked online and a lot of people said 73 was a sweet spot and that is true. Being able to bias this amp without taking it apart is really sweet.
The next thing I did was ad a range master treble booster and that really made this amp sound like a beast..
Things just opened up with the treble booster. My jaw actually hit the ground.Thats how good it sounds.

In closing its a great amp, huge sound stage, punchy, articulate when setup right and with the treble booster. This amp is a great tone platform. Marshall has their sound and i missed it glad to be back. Im getting great tone In the studio. Thank you Sweetwater and Matt Brooks.!!!

This is it, one of my all time favorites

So my main head is a JCM800 2203 which I love. The Jubilee of course has a very different tone, but it's like the 800's perfect cousin. It is amazing for all the reasons you know. The gain is wonderful, the clean is wonderful, and the clipped clean is amazing with single coils or humbuckers for that biting clean tone. The 3 EQ knobs are extremely sensitive, much moreso than other Marshall heads, so you get very different tones by changing these slightly. One surprise to me: it's not that loud, nowhere close to as loud as as JCM800 or a Plexi 100 watt head. The nice thing about this is that you don't need an attenuator to play at bedroom levels, this actually works well as a home amp. But in a band setting, you do have to totally crank the master and lead gain to keep up with a full band, whereas I barely have to have my JCM800 on 2 with a full band. I've always wanted one of these and it's never going anywhere, this is now one of my core amps.

Wow

I feel like I have "my amp" for the first time in a long time. Great crunch and distortion tones, I haven't played much clean yet but it sounded good with an SG with a Duncan jazz in the neck even if it was just for a short time. I bought this for it's overdriven sounds and wow, really nice. I couldn't be much happier with an amp.

Modeling enthusiastic

I am usually very open to use technology for amp simulation. I consider that technology nowadays is very closed to the old tube amps. I thought a lot before to pull the trigger and purchase this amp. Now, after couples of weeks using it, I can share in this review my impression.
I am very happy with this amp. The tones that you can get out it is amazing. No doubt one the best investment on my guitar journal that I have made. Thank Sweetwater to made everything so easy during the process
