Created in 1950 to solve ongoing technical and legal problems in the European broadcast community, it has evolved to include its own television new network as well as standards making committees and regular publications of new developments to members. EBU has recently been highly involved in setting technical standards for things like HDTV, DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting), and DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting).
