Acronym for Kay Algorithmic Real-time Music Architecture, named for developer Stephen Kay. A patented algorithmic MIDI data-generating technology that takes input notes and controller movements and generates complex musical phrases and effects. According to the note and chord data that you input, various parameters of these algorithms are used to generate MIDI messages such as arpeggios, notes, rhythm, duration, accents, chord density, pitch bend, timbral variation, panning, repeats, randomization, etc., creating musical phrases and patterns. You can control these parameters to modify the phrases or patterns in real time.
KARMA was introduced on the Korg KARMA music workstation and is a feature of the Korg OASYS.
