1. Choose Garage Band > Preferences to open the General Preferences page.
2. Click the Audio/MIDI button to view that pane.
3. Check the “Optimize for” section to see what is currently selected.
The option “Maximum number of simultaneous tracks” is recommended, particularly for slower computers and laptops. With faster systems, you can choose “Minimum delay when playing [software] instruments live.” If you aren’t recording software instruments, do not check this box.
