Sixteenth Note

A note or sound with a duration that equals 1/16th of a whole note (assuming duple meter). In time signatures with an “16″ denominator (granted, not all that common), the sixteenth note represents one beat in a measure. In standard Western music notation, an sixteenth note is represented by a black (filled in) oval note head with a vertical stem with a double flag. In tablature, an sixteenth note is represented by a number on a line (indicating the fret and string of the instrument) and a vertical stem with a double flag.
