The Dreadbox Vision
Dreadbox endeavors to create unique and high-quality instruments for musicians and sound designers. The goal is to provide endless inspiration through unique sounds and flexible operation. And for such forward-thinking products, all Dreadbox offerings carry surprisingly low price tags. The Dreadbox vision remains the same today as it was in 2016: to deliver unique and innovative instruments at unbeatable prices.
The Innovation
In a world full of precise digital processing, analog character still reigns supreme in the hearts and ears of many musicians. Dreadbox knows this, which is why they’ve taken huge steps in engineering and programming to deliver maximum creativity and flexibility. And when you use a Dreadbox instrument, you’ll hear just what you’re looking for: thick, raw, and warm analog tone.
The Effects
Dreadbox’s roots lie in effects pedals. For years, the company has developed and manufactured fan-favorite analog effects for guitar and bass. A full line of effects pedals are available, each bringing undeniably warm analog circuitry to effects addicts. Dreadbox’s most successful pedals are the Komorebi, a vibey chorus/flanger, and an oscillating fuzz dubbed Disorder. Don’t worry, though: the Dreadbox team is never one to rest on its laurels. They’re constantly brainstorming, developing, and experimenting with new creations.
The Synthesizers
After mastering the effects pedal, Dreadbox invaded the synth world with their wildly popular Erebus semi-modular synth and the vintage-style Murmux. Each and every one of their designs has a unique sound and distinctive sonic character. Dreadbox’s best-selling synth instruments are the Erebus, the Typhon, and the Nymphes. Though they are one of the newest synth companies, Dreadbox has quickly earned a cult following and the respect of the synth world’s heaviest hitters.
The Assembly Line
From an empty PCB (Printed Circuit Board) to a completed synth or effects unit, all Dreadbox products are manufactured and assembled in-house. Furthermore, each step in the assembly line doubles as a quality-control checkpoint where the work of the previous step is inspected for accuracy. This combination of a small, dedicated team and numerous quality control checkpoints ensures that every Dreadbox product sounds and performs exactly as it’s supposed to.
The Headquarters
Dreadbox HQ is located near downtown Athens, Greece. Their offices house the company’s brightest minds and testing workshop. From the layout of the floorplan to the interior decoration, everything is kept streamlined and spartan to give the team members and musical instruments plenty of room for inspiration. Dreadbox HQ is where management and product development take place. Additionally, this facility includes a video and recording studio, a full demo room, a workshop, and space for brainstorming. But best of all, Dreadbox HQ also includes a brick-and-mortar storefront so customers and synth-obsessed pilgrims can interact with the people behind the company’s extraordinary products.
