Vienna Symphonic Library Orchestral Strings I Reviews

Customer Reviewsfrom Scottsdale, AZ. October 10, 2006 Music Background: Studio owner VSL symphonic cubeI've been using several of these libraries for five months. The learning curve is substantial. The samples and the engine are very good but there are several drawbacks you'll have to live with.First, the documentation is abysmal. You'll need to register with the user forum to get your questions answered. Don't plan on being productive from the day the software arrives. Second, this product is an unbelieveable RAM hog. I have four libraries running on three PCs networked with FX-teleport. Third, when you have a problem, the help desk is in Austria. You will email them messages which they pick up in the middle of the night, and then write back to you. With one problem I had, I was dead in the water for three weeks before they could give me an answer. Fourth, VSL has a program and security architecture, using Syncrosoft keys, that requires planning instrument placements on each of your computers. The instruments in a single library cannot be spread across the available space of several computers. A single library (single license) can only run on one machine at a time. If you try asking VSL to adopt some alternate security architecture, they will simpy ignore you. They won't even talk about it. Otherwise, the sound quality is great, and with a little work you can create amazingly realistic performances.
