Active ABY Pedal with Switcher and Buffer

The Radial Bones Twin-City ABY amp switcher pedal lets you connect to two amps simultaneously — and run them both with no extra noise or signal loss! The Bones Twin-City ABY pedal includes both an ABY switcher and a buffer as well as Radial's Drag Control load correction circuitry, which lets you eliminate signal loss. This amazing box includes a pedal that lets you toggle between amps as well as a pedal to select both outputs. It also includes an isolation transformer, to eliminate hum and buzz from ground loops. Get the most out of your 2-amp setup, with the Bones Twin-City ABY pedal!

Essential for your 2-amp setup

The Twin-City ABY switch pedal enables you to connect any two amps and drive them simultaneously without noise, loss of gain and without degrading your natural guitar tone. This is accomplished with Radial's highly acclaimed buffering technology and the same Drag Control (TM) load correction circuitry as used in the award-winning Radial JD7 Injector. The set-and-forget Drag Control lets you compensate for cable signal loss and introduce the perfect amount of loading to replicate the way your guitar and amp interact.

Eliminate hums and buzzes

To eliminate hum and buzz from ground loops, the Twin-City ABY pedal is equipped with an isolation transformer on output B. This is augmented with a ground lift switch and 180-degree polarity reverse switch that ensures both amplifiers play in phase while noise is reduced to an absolute minimum even when using older vintage amps, which are generally more prone to noise. As a buffer, the Twin-City ABY pedal lowers the impedance and susceptibility to noise, making it the ideal signal driver for large stages when using long cable runs.

Take the Twin-City ABY pedal on the road

Like all Radial products, the Bones are constructed from heavy 14 gauge steel for road-ready reliability. For even greater durability, the Twin-City ABY pedal employs Radial's Electronic Impulse Switching. EIS gives Bones pedals unmatched performance, without the challenges posed by mechanical switches. Bright, easy to see LEDs deliver on-stage switching cues so you know exactly where you are at all times.

Radial Bones Twin-City Active ABY Amp Switcher Pedal Features:

  • Buffered ABY with Drag load correction
  • Isolated output eliminates hum and buzz
  • 180-degree polarity sets both amps in phase
  • Compact design for an easy fit on any pedalboard
  • Toggle and Both footswitches
  • Requires PSA-120S power supply, not included

Reviews

Radial Twin-City ABY Switcher
I love this pedal, the Clean Tones with No Pops, Thumps, Noise and Phase Issue make it an amazing pedal for controlling two amps at once or switching between A or B. With the Active Transformer, Lift and Buffers keeps the tone clean, with the addition of "Drag Control" I can alter Vintage to Modern tones that most ABY pedals out there Don't have. The Drag Control can make the amp have a slight vintage round-warm tone to Flat as the amp sounds or pristine slight treble aggressiveness as newer modern amps possess.

Originally I tried Radial "Passive Transformer" ABY and found that it doesn't work for me (noise and output level) but because of Radial Engineering Quality innovation I really wanted to try the Active "It's the Best". I did also own the Fulltone True-Path ABY-ST 2 and it sounded good though slightly dull and not as versatile, also Lehle Little Dual II Amp Switcher, I thought was clean but the size was kind of large for what it is and it's better for stereo=input, sent it back. So far the Radial Twin-City has been wonderful for two years (I wanted to wait before posting review) in every venue to studio sessions it's been rock-solid professional piece of gear...

Noise and annoying hum gone!
This pedal does exactly what it says it will do. I went through three different amp switch pedals to run dual amps and this was the solution to the noise That I was getting when running both. I started to wonder if it was because I was running two tube amps... The ground lift switch on the Twin City pedal was the answer! Once I flipped It, ALL of the noise went away and ALL My tone was preserved. I heard no tone loss as I tested between this and direct into amp. Big smile on my face.

Im running a Marshall origin 50 and a Fender Super Champ Head into a Marshall 4x12 cabinet. Option A is the Marshall with a Boss GT1000 and Option B is the Fender with a Tube Screamer and Afterneath pedal on the clean channel w/ Spring Reverb, Playing through a Fender HM Strat. I love the options of being able to Blend the two or separate if I want one specific tone. Wow, I can get some really amazing sounds with this setup. What's beautiful is being able to record a loop on the Boss GT1000 while sending to the Marshall Origin, theN flip over to lay some lead down through the Super Champ and both parts are separated between the two amps and They sound so clean and undisturbed by another Signal playing out of same speaker. Absolutely beautiful!

I would like to disclose that I tried to solve this with both amps playing out of my Boss GT-1000, using the left and right outputs. The GT1000 offers 6 different ground lift options within the hardware controls. I tried all of them and none of these options solved the annoying hum noise that I was getting. In fact, after the first 3 options they got terribly worse.

Long story short, if you are looking to solve your issue with the annoying noise due to grounding issues, while running dual amps, give them your money lol

Works perfectly!
Noiseless and effective switching between my EVH 50w stealth and my Blackstar amp. Great product at a fair price!
Unleash the power of options!!
Wow! I've got this hooked up to a Marshall Solid State AVT pushing 2 Celestion Greenbacks at 16 ohms and a 90's Red Bear Tube Amp pushing a Swamp Thang/Texas Heat Combo at 8 ohms. This has opened up a slew of options for me as I can now run certain pedals through my effects return on the marshall and a different chain straight into my Red Bear!! When the Marshall is on it's echo effect, and I switch the amp over to the Red Bear, the Echo carries over and fades away which I wasn't able to do live. I'm just really stoked to be able to play both a solid state AND tube amp without skipping a beat!!
If you are looking for a quiet A /B / Y switcher
I recently had the need to keep my large touring midi rigs at home and try to build a small and portable yet fully versatile 5 wire stereo rig. This was quite the daunting task when you are accustomed to playing through the finest of everything. Once all of the key components were in place, there was a need to not only switch between amps, but play them both at the same time. I normally accomplish this with my 6 midi rack mount GCX units. They work flawlessly and are SUPER quiet. But I do not want to bring any rack cases with me for this project. I tried numerous A / B /Y boxes and every one of them were either too noisy and/or made a popping sound when switching. I reached out to Curt at Sweetwater and he recommended me trying this Radial unit. I am happy to say that it impressed me tremendously. It is by far the most noise free pedal version I have ever tried. The ground lift and phase buttons really make a difference. So a big thank you to Curt for suggesting this to me and kudos to Radial for making a monster of a small pedal. Mission accomplished. For more on my rig visit me on Instagram @axmanjt.
