Reviews

Great little tool
I was having trouble with one, yes I have a couple, of my pedal boards. Wasn"t sure what it was, could have been a patch cord. So, I needed a cable tester. And I didn"t want to spend a fortune. The cheaper ones, didn"t seem adequate as the reviews indicated they did not work well or at all with your everyday industry standard 1/4" cable. The next lever up was the Whirlwind, which reviewed favorably and was capable of testing 1/4" cables, my primary and probably only requirement.
And they are made by Whirlwind, located here in my hometown of Rochester, NY. In fact one of my best friends and drummer in my band who used to work for them as well as the early days of MXR, and also ART and Alesia, now owns a screen printing company that does Whirlwind"s graphics on their pedals.
Of course that all doesn"t really matter. Especially if the product isn"t any good. Which I can happily say is not the case. Works great, and is bone simple to use.And it"s small and lightweight, always a plus. Sorted out my problem, wasn"t any cable at all, turns out the problem was my long used tuner, which is the conduit of the juice for that little grab-and-go board. Looks like another Sweetwater purchase is required

Worth it!
I was a little hesitant to spend $ on a cable tester especially since others (like the Behringer) we're a lot cheaper and seemed to test more kinds of cables and connections. After thinking about it for quite a while, I figured that I didn't need all those other types. Plus it was compact enough that I could wear it on my "audio tech tool belt" without it getting snagged on anything. I use Whirlwind XLR's at work and they're phenomenal, so I knew I was getting quality stuff when I bought it. It has certainly served me well and it's a great addition to my audio gear collection. I'd highly recommend it!
