Great JBL D140 like sound but more power handling

I have one of these in a RevSound RS115 cab no tweeter, 18" x 18.5" x 15", that weighs 25 lbs. and has great warm tone, presence, and old school charm. The sound is very much like my old JBL D140 speaker but it can handle 400 watts. Anyone familiar w/ the tone of the JBL knows they could only handle 100 watts but were very punchy and warm, if that's the sound you still prefer you will be very pleased w/ this speaker as a replacement or for a custom cab like mine.

Great sounding 15

I finally installed this BN15-400x into an old Yamaha bass cab, guessing from the 90's. Nice ported quality plywood cab. Now mind you, I am always worry about cab volume and port size etc. I threw caution to the wind, blocked the port in the Yam cab and installed the speaker. This is a REALLY GOOD SOUNDING SPEAKER. I am amazed at the tone and the low end this sealed 15 cab is developing with this speaker. The Yam cab is 23"H x 22"W x 15"D. I am running a Hartke LX5500 head. It has one 12ax7 that i swapped out for a real deal blue tip Telefunken. I bought 5, 25 years ago for $, Such a deal.
I am telling you, this rig sounds more like a tube amp every time I play it! The speaker is still breaking in and it already sounds tremendous. I owned the full SVT rig with 2 810 cabs back in 72, cost $. WOW have prices gone wild!
Anyhow, I can't see how you can go wrong with this speaker. Plenty of low end and high end. I am going to purchase a 2nd one. The rig blooms with round low end texture with that all important high end crispness that is so pleasant to the ears.
It is priced competively for a 15 neo 400 watter! Block your port and rock and roll. Thanks Sweetwater and Thank You Celestion.

What a surprise

I bought this speaker to replace a 15 inch peavey black widow in my Ampeg bass cabinet, i was looking for a solid replacement bass speaker as i am a 68 year old musician and im really not able to move a heavy cabinet to well anymore. This speaker did everything that i was looking for, a light weight speaker but having the low end i was looking for the type of music that play, i paired up the this speaker with my gallien krueger 210 glx bass cabinet and i was very pleased with the results, i will be replacing the 2-10 inch heavey speakers in my GK cabinet with the 10 Celestion speakers to give me a great sounding combination with both cabinets, i highly recommend these speakers to any bass player looking to lighten the wieght with out losing the sound quality.

Good stuff!

I was happy with my Hartke AK115 bass cab, but with this speaker it lost 8 lbs. in 10 minutes~ much appreciated since I'm always hauling it between gigs and our rehearsal studio on the second floor of a commercial building. If you're skeptical that a lightweight speaker is gonna sound wimpy, forget it! Not a dramatic difference from the Hartke paper cone 15", but definitely clearer and warmer. Plenty of nice bottom end kick, full bodied and even through its entire frequency range~you can EQ it to do anything you want for bass.
