Each American Deluxe Strat features a special matching pickguard. In this case, the amber finish is beautifully complemented with a four-ply brown shell pickguard along with special aged plastic parts.

The original Strat had three single coil pickups, but the American Deluxe substitutes three specially-designed Samarium Cobalt Noiseless single coil pickups, so you also get instant access to all those classic, glossy Strat tones with a simple flick of the five-position blade switch.
But there's more here than meets the eye! By simply pushing down on the volume control, you can access the bold new sounds available thanks to Fender's exclusive S-1 switching. This gives you incredible new pickup combinations like the neck pickup in parallel with special capacitor and in series with the middle pickup. Fast Playing Natural Maple Neck
Leo Fender wasn't afraid to "think outside the box" when it came to guitar designs. In the 1950s and well into the 1970s, the blond natural maple neck became almost synonymous with Fender guitars. While this American Deluxe Strat keeps the fast playing maple neck, it's now topped off with an rosewood fingerboard with a 9.5-inch radius. And in keeping with contemporary player preferences, the modern "C" shaped neck is finished in satin polyurethane.
