Smooth Sound for Every Application!

It's hard to truly do justice to the Earthworks SR30 microphone. The SR30 is a true performer, delivering a precise, natural sound you simply won't find on a lot of cardioid microphones. Unlike a lot of directional mics, the SR30 won't give you a hollow, "boomy" sound when used close to the source. The sound is smooth in whatever application. A favorite microphone for many recording artists, the SR30 hits high marks for clarity and realism in a directional mic.

Clarity and Isolation at Its Best

These are incredible mics for the price. I'm recording primarily strings and small ensembles, and you just can't find comparable clarity in other microphones in this class. I've used them both as a pair for room mics and individually as spot mics for instruments. They excel in both situations. I recently A/Bd them against the AKG 451s that I've had for years, and there was no comparison in terms of frequency response and clarity - the SR30s just sound way better. In spot miking situations, they capture the full clarity and sound spectrum of an instrument while doing an incredible job at isolating other nearby instruments. I've used them with both Millenia and Vintech pres with outstanding results.

Great Company, Great Product

I develop virtual reality/multimedia software applications so I have to record just about everything in any situation.

I started using the Earthworks SR30 about four months ago and found myself using it for everything. From recording acoustic guitar and miking guitar cabinets, to collecting sound effects and samples for music and video production The SR30 does it extremely well.

I liked it so much that I purchased the "Matched Pair". I use them for creating stereo recordings of a variety of sources including in an isolation cabinet with one on the rim and the other on the speaker dome to create stereo guitar tracks. The SR30 handles all the tone and volume I have thrown at it from clean to crunching rhythm to screaming leads.

I have worked with many mics over my career and have never been more satisfied than I am with the SR30. And if you should need it, Earthworks provides exceptional support.

How about a snare drum in your face?

Outstanding! I've tried so many mics on a snare drum, including SM57, Neumann KM84 (yes, old school), ribbons, you name it. This mic is the best yet. The capturing of the snare sound is fantastic. I usually mic the top of the snare with this, but point it a bit at the shell itself and run into an Avalon 737-SP w/ Babyface mod. It made me want to cry the first time I used it! It's also great on percussion and horns!

Great sounding Mic that can't be repaired!!!

I have been using Earthworks SR77s TC30s and Sr30s since approx. 2000. Many great characteristics about the mics.....Except I have more than a few that will Pop very loud if any static electricity such as a drummers sticks or especially brushes come close to the mic! Nothing can be done about it and you are out of luck....approx. $600. dollars worth of luck!
Also since I personally own 12 of their mics I have a couple that now have a buzz! I want to send them in for repair...NO WAY!!!! Earthworks have a 10 year warranty, and the mics are made in such a way (everything is glued inside!!) that they can't be repaired!!!!
I contacted Earthworks recently, they checked the serial number and told me that they could probably get me a (Small) discount on a new one....that is highway robbery! I won't EVER spend another cent on Earthworks mics!! There are other mics that will do the job just fine.
I spent the last 20 plus years telling and showing people how good those mics are. I used to rent them to various A/V companies until they wound up buying their own Earthworks mics. But unlike Shure or any other mic company THEY CAN'T BE REPAIRED!!!! So GOOD LUCK!!
