It's hard to truly do justice to the Earthworks SR30 microphone. The SR30 is a true performer, delivering a precise, natural sound you simply won't find on a lot of cardioid microphones. Unlike a lot of directional mics, the SR30 won't give you a hollow, "boomy" sound when used close to the source. The sound is smooth in whatever application. How about a snare drum in your face?

Outstanding! I've tried so many mics on a snare drum, including SM57, Neumann KM84 (yes, old school), ribbons, you name it. This mic is the best yet. The capturing of the snare sound is fantastic. ... read more [+]I usually mic the top of the snare with this, but point it a bit at the shell itself and run into an Avalon 737-SP w/ Babyface mod.
