I was so impressed with the Wampler Plexi-Drive that I wrote my initial review just days after receiving it. Most or all of the reviews here (including mine) can tell you what an excellent OD pedal this is but, after a few weeks of experimentation, I have discovered what a wonderful clean boost it can be. With the gain at about 9 o'clock, it provides a crisp, beefy, well-defined clean tone that is unobtainable with my other pedals, and I have some good ones (see pic).
I've never thoght of an OD pedal as an "always on" effect but the Wampler Plexi-Drive simply sounds awesome no matter where the gain is set. It is equally useful with single coils, humbuckers, Marshall and Fender amps or any guitar & amp combination. Wampler makes a superior product and the Plexi-Drive is a shining example of this.

I have ten different distortion pedals and this one out performs them all! It always produces the best results every time!!!

Turned my fender blues jr into a plexi. Most authentic ac/dc sound I have come across in a pedal. Very tweakable. Btw it has a ton of bass on tap. The bright switch is nice. I am also loving it because I can sound like Green Day better than the Mxr dookie drive pedal itself. The Mxr dookie drive sounds fuzzy and fake so I returned it. The boost on this pedal sounds great. This is a Plexi amp in a pedal. I did try the Friedman od deluxe but had defect issues and decided against trying a 3rd replacement. Now this pedal isn't as hot sounding as the lower gain channel of the Friedman, but is a lot better sounding. You can turn down the gain on the Friedman but it doesn't sound as musical as this pedal. The Friedman is more like a jcm800 and not a Plexi. To get the be od higher gain channel I am going to go with the jhs angry charlie pedal when I can afford another pedal.

I've had the Plexi Drive Deluxe for a few months now and use it almost daily. It gives my Fender amp a whole new world of tone, taking a clean sounding Fender right into classic and punk rock territory. The eq and the bass and bright switches are great features and well worth spending a little extra money. Many thanks to Aric Ficek of Sweetwater for his assistance, even got the pedal delivered earlier than expected.

I'm a blues jr kinda guy but I love those big Marshall amp sounds. When I realized that most of the overdriven high gain sounds from bands like Smashing Pumpkins and Green Day are using Marshall amps to do the heavy lifting, I decided to look for a pedal that could give me similar tones. This pedal is awesome and it really doesn't change your amp tone completely like most overdrive pedals but it blends nicely together to give it the Marshall sound you're looking for. Paired with my tweed blues jr this pedal sounds really great!
